Playstation 5 Catch-All

Do we have a Deathloop thread? Seeing reviews drop today

This was one of those pleasant surprise games where I knew it was coming out soon but thought it was still a few weeks away. Preordered last night just before the discount deadline came and looking forward to playing after work.

I've been a little off gaming for a few weeks as happens every so often but I'm hoping this kickstarts the fire again.

Fine.

Available tomorrow.

I'm waiting for reviews to drop before deciding on this one, but I still love the way it looks, so fingers crossed that it's good.

I too have decided to wait for reviews. It isn't terribly expensive but I have enough of a backlog that I am not opposed to waiting.

i decided to go for it, though I've heard the review embargo ends at midnight tonight. Not a great sign, frankly.

Still, the little Rot characters are cute, and the art is pretty.

I've got Kena pre purchased, taking a chance but it does look delightful. I hope the reviews are at least good but I have higher expectations that this can be one of the top tier indie titles of the year along with FIST, Axiom Verge 2, possibly Eastward being in that bracket too.

My gaming time has been sucked up by Deathloop recently with FIST & Eastward being on the rotation too. What's another game added to the mix

Systems supposed to be in stock Thurs at Best Buy US. No word on time or store/online yet. But for those still looking, good luck.

Kena reviews trickling in since midnight

Seems like it's maybe a touch short, and potentially doesn't have a lot of depth in the various character progression aspects. Still, it's budget-esque priced, and it's definitely carrying a lot of charm in the art department!

I'm excited to try it later this evening.

This is a very good discussion on the game.

These all sound like features to me, not detriments.

Too many things try to overcomplicate with "progression" systems and yatta yatta. Regardless, I'll be looking up reviews myself, and then holding off anyway until it's on Steam. Regardless, I imagine this will have itself an audience.

Yeah the reviews for Kena look solid, kinda what I was expecting, a shorter simpler experience. I'll probably pick it up once I get tired of Deathloop.

Kena seems like the kind of game I can get used in a couple weeks. Not to say it is bad but just that it is a game people will finish and then move on.

I'm going to wait for a sale, or maybe for it to show up as a PS+ free game (which would mean Sony finally included a game that I actually have an interest in - for me at least, the offerings have been dismal for most of the last year). What with recent sales and my existing stack of unplayed games, that backlog ain't getting any smaller, and I can't really justify paying for anything that's more of a fun way to pass time rather than a compelling must-play.

Would probably be true, though I don't think there's a physical release?

Sure, I'm not a proponent of making things more complicated simply to make them more complicated. From the small number of reviews I looked at, the complaint was more that while there's a small amount of character type upgrades, the majority of them seemed to have no real effect on gameplay.

As for the game length, short means different things to different people. I'm not necessarily looking for a 50 hr slog, but if it was only 1-2 hrs long I might be disappointed. Given the reportedly simple(ish) nature of the gameplay, I think going shorter (8-12hrs) will likely work in its favor. I mean, given MY attention span, that's probably right on target.

Yeah, it's digital only.

I'm happy to see solid review all around. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to PS2 era platforms which is quite appealing to me. I'll probably hold off until I finish off Deathloop, then pick this up.

Physical release in November, FYI

I tell you, trying to buy a PS5 is the most frustrating game Sony has ever devised.

Especially when the only thing that prevented me today is that their own website wouldn't let me type in my credit card number. At all. Click on the box, can't type in it. Try to tab into the box, just skips right past it. Try to right click the box and paste the CC number in... nothing.

Blah!

That must be their anti-bot protection. Are you sure you're not a bot? When was the last time you correctly identified a series of stop signs and bicycles?

Thanks Stele. And for all of us trying, may the odds be ever in our favor.

Got one! Starting spamming the Add to Cart button the moment it became available. Took over 20 minutes and hundreds of tries, but eventually got one into my cart and checked out. Long shipping, expected arrival by October 27, but given that I've been trying to get one since launch, what's another 4-5 weeks?

Yay! One of us!

Good job Cone, I was less lucky.

Well don't fell alone. I felt like every time they restocked, the website sent me to the "Verify Account" dialog, repeatedly, until they were out of stock again.

I'm sensing a trend here. Please complete the following:

I may have no idea what I'm talking about, but at least for Walmart I took the type of Out of Stock notice to matter. If it's on the product page, then you have no option to even try to purchase, and it is actually out of stock. But if it's a popup Out of Stock notice that you get when you try to add it to your cart, it just means the site is getting slammed with bots and other customers. So it's Click, Enter to dismiss the popup notice, repeat 1000 times and hope you get lucky, and then try to check out before it disappears from the cart.
