NFL 2021: The Week 2 thread

Isn't that Meyer's reputation though? His success is based entirely on hiring really good coordinators and position coaches that recruit ridiculously well (and beat their wives). He's not so much of a coach, just a CEO.

So he should be a GM in the NFL. Gotcha.

The Patriots may not be the force that they used to be in the NFL, but at least we can still look forward to Jets week.

I hope to gods the Ravens don't RG3 Lamar Jackson and crush him under the weight of the rest of the team's deficiencies. They really need to fix that O Line and give him more short passing options until the running backs get their sh*t together.

I didn't watch the Monday night game all that closely or all that long. Did Lamar do any read-option stuff? It looked like the Ravens kept him in the pocket and made him throw the ball. That's not a bad thing necessarily bc Lamar is a decent enough passer. It's just boring.

No, RPO requires you to have actually practice with your RBs first. Otherwise it's fumble after fumble as the QB and RB both fight for the ball.

I don't see why handoffs would be a problem for the Ravens; I mean, all Lamar has to do is lean down and give it to the guy rolling around on the ground with a torn ACL. Easiest handoff ever.

See, it's Thursday and we're still talking about last week.

That's why you don't post the new thread until they're warming up on the field for Thursday Night Football...

They play football on Thursday?

Ravens activated Freeman at RB today

Must be lining up at fullback.

Very full.

Ravens down their 3rd string corner back.

Guys, don't play for the Ravens this year. Just saying.

Congrats, the Ravens have caught COVID-49er.

EDIT: And on that note:

Looks like we have an answer:

Dammit. Well maybe the Niners will stay healthy and bounce back then

Don't hold your breath.

Dre Greenlaw suffered a groin injury against Detroit, and is now expected to miss 4-6 weeks following surgery to repair the injury.

But I already have bad knees! I fit perfectly!

Nah, that's a Jacksonville thing.

A Baltimore thing is you're healthy, in shape and then bust something.

Oh please. Besides James Stewart, Fred Taylor, Tavian Banks, Greg Jones, Maurice Jones-Drew, Rashad Jennings, Denard Robinson, T.J. Yeldon, Carlos Hyde, Leonard Fournette, and James Robinson, name a Jaguars running back who had knee injuries.

Marcus Mariota comes in and gashes the Ravens D on the ground for 34 yards.

I am HERE for the NFL finally pulling the stick out of its collective ass when it comes to QB substitutions and rotations. And I mean with actual QBs, not wildcat RBs or Taysoms.

I'm excited about this too, but I don't think the raiders had the roster to do it. Because of that play, we now have Nathan Peterman on deck for the next few weeks.

Gruden's love of The Peter Man boggles my mind.

He gave him EVERY preseason snap, minus one lone snap taken by Case Cookus.

Peter Man, Peter Man; does whatever a Peter Man does.

I can't tell if the Giants D is significantly worse than last year, or whether washington team football is actually good with Taylor Heinicke.

Hard Knocks in Season was just announced. I barely know jack crap about the Colts and I'm already in.

One of these days, I will get iaintgotnopants to see my Sleeper messages and trade offers.

I think Heinicke is solidly average. A Teddy Bridgewater-esque. Reads the defense well and has good touch in the medium 10-20 yard range which is where you win in the NFL (of course I wrote this as he threw an absolute LAZZZZZER to the artist Ricky Seals-Jones). I think WFT has a GREAT supporting cast of offensive weapons. But I also think the Giants defense might be the worst in the league. Name an impact player other than Bradberry on their defense? (Leonard Williams doesn't count)

I think Heinicke might be average, but his numbers from last year were (understandably) below average.

That was an amazing Bradberry INT though. Isn't Adoree Jackson supposed to be good? I'm bad and mostly follow offense when it's not my home division.

I just checked their roster, and the only other names I recognize are Jabrill Peppers, who I know from the OBJ trade as a 1st round pick, and Quincy Roche, who was supposed to be Pittsburgh's 4th OLB until Jamir Jones showed out, then got poached trying to join the practice squad as our 5th OLB.

Duh. Justin Tuck and Jason Pierre-Paul.

I think the future Jeopardy host is within our midst!

I could get used to ending every night with crazy finishing sequences.
