NCAA Football 2021-22 Season

Week 1 here we come! Cal plays Nevada at home... only 3.5 point favorites, which is probably fair. Will be great to be back in Memorial after nearly 2 years. We're 0-2 in our last 2 meetings against the Wolf Pack, including a blowout @ Reno against some guy named Kapernick. We need more creampuff non-conf games against the SEC, Big 12 10 8 and ACC... we have a much better record against them.

Fun fact, the last time Cal played Nevada at home was in 2012. That was also after a one-year break at Memorial (renovation). Our record that year? 3-9 and we fired coach Tedford.

Dawgs are going to NC to play a cow school from SC. I'm cautiously optimistic even with our injuries at WR/TE. I honestly don't know what to expect from Clemson. Their D should be good, but didn't really show that in big games last year. And maybe I'm naive, but I don't know how you lose a 1st Round QB and RB and not miss a beat. Wouldn't be shocked if the cow school wins, but I sure hope the Dawgs make Dabo sad.

Here's your Week 1 schedule.

We get games Thurs-Fri-Sat!-Sun!!-Mon!!!

And, yeah, Georgia-Clemson (7:30p Sat, ABC) is clearly the game of the week.

Ohio State - Minnesota could be interesting. Longhorns vs ULaLa could absolutely be an upset; just hope those Louisiana guys aren't too discombobulated from fleeing the hurricane.

Fun story: LSU relocated to Houston for the week, and GWJ's own TheWalt saw Coach O jogging downtown.

Yeah Louisville v Mississippi your Monday holiday weekend nightcap from Atlanta.

Fully expected to drive down for this game when it was announced years ago. But thanks covid.

Right there with you. Pains me for the Dawgs to be 90 minutes away and miss it, especially since it's against the cow school. Freshman year I was in attendance for Eric Zeier's first start against the cow school.

Funny story. On our way to the stadium we passed a jacked up truck of cow schoolers parked on a campus sidewalk, talking trash. Strangely, said truck was long gone when we left that evening. Hopefully, history repeats itself.

Heh I've given up eating out, travelling, seeing friends, in-person meetings, everything for the last 19 months.

But for Cal football, i will take on the covids head on and show no fear because MUH FREEDOMS! Honestly though.. given the 6 people that showed up to the Rose Bowl last week for Hawaii-UCLA, my guess is social distancing isn't going to be a problem at Cal either.

Also that UC Los Angeles game against LSU almost guaranteed going to be a home game for the Tigers.

Hearing a lot of rumblings that both Clemson and the Dawgs are having major Covid issues right before the game.

Go Tennessee! Go Minnesota! COLLEGE FOOTBALL - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGHGGHGH!

I was at the game in Knoxville. Perfect weather. Fun time. UT less improved than I had hoped after the first couple of fast scores. Lots of work to do. But at least the offense has potential to be fun.

Jump Around is one of my favorite college football traditions.

However, I was NOT pleased to be informed that next year, that song will be as old as f*cking "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Return to Sender" were when Jump Around came out.

Haha. That was fun to watch.

Miami not impressive early.

I'm enjoying the game so far. ROLL TIDE!!!!

Always here for watching a program that's constantly talking cash sh*t about "The U" and has less ACC Championship Game victories than Wake Forest get trucked.

It's hard to believe the number 14 next to the name for Miami... When Bama stomps people it's normally not this boring.

To be fair to them, I think Miami's pretty squarely in that second tier of teams that'll probably rack up 2-3 losses this year and make a big bowl, but come nowhere near the playoffs.

While I never root for Alabama or the SEC

Roll Tide

This is the appropriate type of hate for CFB. One of my newer friends - an OU grad - doesn't understand. He says we're obsessed with the longhorns. Not obsessed, just invested in their failure.

Kentucky trailed UL Monroe today. It was a good first few minutes.

So! Georgia!

Two yards rushing.

So how many times does LSU have to lose Alabama to crawl back into the National Championship picture?

Coach O, Gene Chizik 2.0.

Lol Cal is bad.. my 3-9 take I had earlier may come true.

On the bright side, we are still in the hunt for the Rose Bowl.

Go Indinia!

First team to two wins, wins the Pac 12 North? Oregon, you're halfway there.

Bad news, we lost

Good news, we looked like a much better team and played with more intensity than we have in years. We need to clean up the errors and penalties. Our offensive line still looked really weak, but maybe a little bit better than last year

LOL, uh, Brian Kelly, the "our entire team should be executed" bit goes over a smiiiiiidge better with professionals.

EDIT: Also, Brian has the comic timing/sensibilities of a dead frog.
