Post a quote, that could have just been text but instead for some stupid reason is an image, entertain me!

100% spot on.

Long long long time lurker on these forums but the above post was enough to make me crawl out from under my rock.

1,000 times this. I'm a huge advocate for the idea that you can only experience something for the first time once. Last time I went to the cinema was to see Man of Steel and had to content with a jackass diagonally infront of me using his phone every 5 mins, a contender for the nosiest Dorito eater in the UK, a group of three friends who just talked throughout the whole movie and a family outing with a seven year old who obviously found the film too violent and upsetting but who's parent's decided to ignore this and let him jump agitatedly in his seat for the second half of the movie.

Yes, I'm aware that the poor parenting is the bigger issue here but this trip made me swear off EVER going to cinema again. I have the equipment at home and snacks are cheaper. I can also pause if I need the bathroom.

Also, I like having subtitles turned on at all times.

Me too. It's helps when the poorly parented kids in my basement are talking throughout the movie.

Later in life it's always blown my mind that 50s/60s B&W TV (Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, Twilight Zone, etc.) that might as well have been the Old West (tm.) in my mind was less than a decade behind my 1969 birth.

I don't know if I should Yikes or Fist-Bump.

There is a park in town that has hunting in the park and walking trails in the same area. I guess they do close the mtb trails so that at least the bikers aren't getting shot.

We just are supposed to wear bright blaze orange....That or don't wear antlers. We had to skip a fun hike last year as we left our orange at home and didn't want to get shot after seeing a buck get hauled out of the woods at the trail head.

I remember a few years ago when The Internet pointed out that it had been longer since Back to the Future came out than the difference between then and Marty's initial jump back to the '50s, but it didn't really hit me until a little later when, in 2019, I went to a neighborhood festival that had a Bon Jovi cover band playing, and I realized it was just like when there would be "oldies" cover bands playing in the park when I was a kid. It has been longer since Slippery When Wet came out than the time between that album and Buddy Holly's death.

About 7-8 years ago I started noticing that the oldies stations were starting to add songs from the 80s into their rotation. I was like “I remember when this song debuted on MTV, it can’t be an oldie!” Then I remembered how long it’s been since MTV was actually a music video channel…
