Genshin Impact Gacha-of-the-Wild All

It took me a few days of checking in to the Daily Check-in before I realized they changed it up a bit this month. The days to get the primogems have moved forward (but still only 60 gems total per month) and the days where we got food ingredients are gone, and instead we get prepared meals. I think there's more days where we get XP books now too.

I just got the furthest I've ever gotten on the Spiral Abyss- perfect 3 stars on every floor--- until I hit the new Pyro-Hypostatis on floor 11-3. What the F is this BS??? Granted it was my first time encountering this enemy but my party completely wiped, and it had just healed up to full health and re-cast its shield.

I haven't tried the new Abyss rotation yet, but Enviosity just posted a good guide for that particular chamber:

I'm still really liking the design for Yoimiya, but the pre-release analysis for her is not sounding very promising. It sounds like she has major issues due to ICD on reactions, lack of AoE, and low auto attack lock-on range. I will definitely be waiting for some post-release analysis before deciding whether I'm going to roll on her banner.

Hopefully she's better than people are predicting or she receives a pre-release stealth buff.

Yeah, people seem to be pretty down on her recently. I'm thinking she'll be fine for general use, but right now wondering if she'd fit in with the endgame meta. I'm still pretty likely to at least try for her - since I'll be pulling on the banner for Sayu anyway.

How are others doing in Inazuma now? I'm still going strong but think I'm nearly at the end of what's currently available. They do have a couple things that are time-gated to last a week -which is sort of annoying me. Namely the mysterious conch thing and the Tatara Tales quests. I think I'm going to finally be able to finish the Tatara Tales quest tomorrow since today's was called "Final Preparations". Also tonight or tomorrow I think I'll get around to finishing the main quest.

I've still got about 10 electro-whatevers to find for the Statues of the Seven- but from a video I've seen I won't be able to raise the statue to the next level until the next areas of Inazuma are unlocked for us. And I think I've got just 2 more levels to raise the tree before it's maxed out until the rest of Inazuma unlocks.

Yeah, for the most part I've been taking my time -- I want to savor it. In fact, I kind of regret the fact that I focused so hard on doing the main story quests already, but that seemed like the best way to progress to the point of opening up Inazuma bounties,

Which, incidentally, I finally did today -- and even better, I discovered that Inazuma bounties don't start with the annoying elemental sight goose chase, and sometimes involve more interesting combat scenarios than just one of the larger enemies with specific elemental strengths and weaknesses. So glad to see both of those things!

I really want the roly poly, but she is literally the only one on that banner I want. Don't use Xinyan or Diona and don't care about Yoimiya. Sad times.

She'll be back on a banner before too long, and in a patch or two she should get added to the off-rateup set for every banner. Puling a banner to chase a single 4 star is almost as big a trap as pulling the weapon banner -- I'd advise caution.

Has the banner info leaked? I haven't seen anything to indicate who else would be on the banner with Sayu. If Diona is on it, I definitely wouldn't mind getting some constillations on her- but if my luck is anything like it was on the Kazuha banner, I'll get a C6 Zinyan and a C1 Qiqi.

Good news/bad news then: it’s going to be Diona and Xinyan with Yoimiya and Sayu.

Good thing I didn't bet any money if the leaks are true. I was sure that Beidou would be on this next banner since we just got her for free, and when we got the free Diona, she was on the next banner.

If it wasn't for Yoimiya, this would be a perfect banner for me. Too close to hard pity to do much pulling on it though, but at least I'll be happy for any of the 4*s I'm likely to get. I've eagerly waiting Sayu for too long not to pull though, hopefully I stay within the odds and not get an early 5*.

Good luck, Mantid! I'll try to send you all the Sayu luck I'd been stockpiling and won't be using.

I haven't had a ton of time to play yet, but I'm also trying not to rush through all the island exploration right away. Once the other 3 islands are released, it'll probably be at least another 9 months before we get another huge update like this. Hopefully there will be a few more updates along the lines of Dragonspine and the Archipelago Islands before the next major region release.

This is going to be a tough banner for me. I've liked Yoimiya from the moment I saw her, and really like her character in the game, but it's pretty clear the next banner is one we should be saving up for.

I may wait a couple days to see what the content creators say about her once they had a chance to properly build her in game. Then I may try pulling for a C1 Sayu, and if Yoimiya comes, great. And if not, that's okay too.

Speaking of content creators, has anyone found any other decent ones in terms of character and weapon appraisal lately?

Jinjinx quit YouTube for mental health reasons not long ago. TenTen is on indefinite hiatus while moving and setting up in his new job. Dreamy still makes good guides, but she only covers the occasional character in Genshin lately. It seems like everyone else just jumps for click bait conclusions the day a character's banner goes up or doesn't do any kind of proper testing.

The departure of Jinx and TenTen leaves a big hole. I've been trying to fill it with Zajef77. He's a bit louder than I care for, but he relies on math instead of the intuition and misplaced confidence that a lot of other content creators seem to go with. He doesn't make a lot of YouTube videos, but his stream is small enough that he's willing to respond to questions. His chat seems pretty helpful too.

I also rely on the guides that show up on keqingmains. Unfortunately, those often come very late in a banner or after it completely.

This, to some extent. There are also a few Discord servers (keqingmains being one example) that have theorycrafting channels that will analyze things a bit quicker that that, and have either FAQ channels or pinned comments that can get you good information quickly. BUT beware: those are often NOT places that put any effort into managing their communities, and absolutely do not even come close to maintaining the standards of better pieces of the internet such as GWJ and Waypoint, so use discretion if you're going to dig into that mess.

Alternately, speaking of Waypoint, the Waypoint Discord server has a Genshin Impact channel where there are often folks chatting who are keeping up with the theorycrafting elsewhere but will chat about it without the danger of toxic 4chan style nonsense. It's maybe not the most raw or direct info feed, but almost certainly a much more pleasant way to find it.

I've watched a variety of people on youtube and there's really no one that sticks out that I'd recommend in particular. One's toxic, others ramble on, etc. I usually put in my search terms and watch as much of a video to get a general sense of what they're saying and check out a couple others to see if there's a general consensus.

Happy birthday Amber!

Well, I made the mistake of browsing the Genshin reddit today and seeing a bunch of Sayu videos. She looks like so much fun. I didn't realize her Sonic spin doesn't use any stamina, so she supplants Mona and Ayaka for fastest overworld traversal, possibly with an added bonus of not getting stuck on small bits of terrain. The dash also triggers swirl, allowing you to do silly stuff like this.

I believe I'm around 30 rolls into pity right now, so I may toss 20 or 30 rolls on this banner in hopes that I can land a copy before hitting soft.

Oh god, that's gotta be patched soon right?

I thought I saw something about how the roll might also be able to travel over water like Mona/Ayaka's sprint. If that's true, then she can just roll out to any far reaching island- no more ice bridges or making sure Amber's on your team so you can glide all the way out to where you're going...

I was going to hold off a few days for feedback to be sure I really wanted to wish on this banner but this makes me want Sayu now.

It's not quite as busted as you're thinking. She doesn't consume stamina while rolling, but her roll only lasts as long as you hold E and that has a max duration of 10s. So you can ice bridge for 10 seconds at no stamina cost if you swirl ice, but then you fall into the water. It's not going to replace Mona or Ayaka for overwater travel.

Okay, that seems a bit more reasonable. Still fun but fair.

edit: New banner results:
1st 10-pull - Favonius Greatsword - ugh : (
2nd 10-pull - Sayu - Yes!
3rd 10-pull - a 17th constellation for Razor.... why!?
4th 10-pull - Sayu C1 YES!!!!

C1 Sayu is mine! I'm stopping there for now.

Spoiler:

First 10 pull!

I didn't have Xinyan yet either, so that's a welcome bonus. Some of Sayu's constellations look nice, but I'm good with C0 for now.

Edit: It looks like I'm 45 rolls toward soft pity now too.

Here's a decent and fair look at Yoimiya. Also, SevyPlays seems to be a pretty good channel in general with some well informed and some entertaining videos.

I'm still considering pulling for Yoimiya eventually.

My pros list:
1) I have an unused Amos Bow on my account she could utilize.
2) I don't have Diluc, Klee or Hu Tao on my account- with as many 5 star pyro character there are in the game, I have none.
3) I like her.

My cons list:
1) I'll be less prepared for the next banner.
2) I'll have to beat the 50/50 (but, ironically if I missed the 50/50 and didn't get Yoimiya, it might then better prepare me for the next banner, since I'd have the 5-star guaranteed).

While I mull it over, I'm just enjoying having Sayu, who is just a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to farming talent books for her tonight after work, and scouring the landscape for Crystal Morrow, one of her ascension materials.

That's actually a pretty solid pros list, particularly not having a strong pyro DPS already.

That being said, I'd wait at least a few more days (or better yet, until towards the end of the patch) for theorycrafters to do their thing and see where she REALLY fits into the picture, and what team comps they might come up with that might help her shine a bit. That way you can have a better sense if from a performance perspective whether she's somewhere in the realm of "eh, fine" vs "oh boy, just hope for a Diluc 50/50 drop or a Hu Tao rerun."

(That said, if I had the resources to get both her and Raiden, AND I didn't already have a built Hu Tao, I'd totally roll her up -- she's probably among my top 3 favorite character designs in the game so far.)

Buuuut... one other thing to keep in mind is that we're approaching the game's anniversary at the end of September, and typically this type of game will have at least slightly bonkers offerings for anniversaries to entice extra sales. There are no concrete leaks yet, but often gacha games (including Mihoyo's other games) will reset top up bonuses and do things like "select a character" banners and the like, so just keep in mind that just AFTER Raiden empties everyone's pockets, there could easily be a wildly "generous" opportunity to get something you want (ie, to entice everyone to be at least dolphins) -- and that could include the ability to potentially target another pyro DPS for pulls.

EDIT: Thanks for the video recommendation too -- I'll add her to my list to see how it goes.
