NBA 2020-21 Season Catch-All

17 of 19 from the line in game 6, just FYI.

If he had shot his usual 50% they would have lost. If he can do 17 of 19 last night it really shows it was all mental. I hope doing that in the close out game will open the doors to carry it over to next year for him.

I am beginning to think that basketball is even more mental than I originally thought. I mean look at the effect Chris Paul had on Phoenix. It is confidence for sure but confidence can be broken. How many times has it been said that talent becomes stars when they are shown the way to win at each level? That certain teams can't make it out of the first round because its mental. That a young or inexperienced team can lose to an experienced team because the experience team knows they can win even when trailing by a lot. And the young team knows the same but isn't sure it can win even with the large lead.

I think it is one of the reasons why when you have all those videos of a talented average joe against a bench warmer in 1 on 1, the nba player smokes the joe. The bench player isn't a starter because they lack talent but more so that they lack the mental development.

Anyone who's played at any level and ever experienced the flow state of the game can confirm it's very much a mental game.

Look no further than Robert Horry…a middling player that when the biggest moments came he was a good as any superstar.

Big Shot Bob.

More rings than Jordan. Heck, more rings than anybody not a Celtic, riding on Bill Russell's back.

Jrue Holiday is clearly mentally wired like a gold fish then.

The way he shot on the offensive end clearly didn't effect him defensively.

It does not feel weird at all cheering against Rudy Robert this morning.

USA looking better. Getting a lot of transition. There is an Olympics thread now.

Even Fournier was the best player on the court today. 8 NBA seasons, 19ppg was his best a couple years ago. Wow. Embarrassing way to lose

The Lakers are near a deal to acquire Washington's Russell Westbrook for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a 2021 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

Going back to the "No Spacing" lineups that worked oh so well in LeBron's first year as a Laker.

But… why? It just seems dumb on the surface for the Lakers. An AD and Lebron team needs shooting badly. If they wanted to trade those guys and picks they could have probably gotten players that actually fit.

Thought Trezl just signed on to stay. Weird.

Buddy Hield made sense. I don't get that. This clogs the lane more. Poor Schröder as well. He gets to be Westbrook's backup again.

No. He definitely signed to be traded, but I thought it was for Hield.

Hield trade might still happen. Sounds like the Westbrook deal may drag on and include more and more teams.

Lebron wants someone better than Dennis Schroeder to handle the ball while he rests. Least that’s what all the experts say.

Ah whoops. Hard to keep up with news on twitter the last couple days.

It’s official, apparently. Wild.

Anyone have feelings about their teams picks yet? I do.

James Bouknight was not supposed to be available at 11. I’m nervous about the pick for the Hornets for 5 reasons:

1. He clearly didn’t look thrilled, though maybe he was sad he slipped
2. He looks like Jeremy Lamb in the face and I don’t like Jeremy Lamb
3. Hornets have iffy luck with talents that slide, like Monk and Vonleh
4. I have little idea of his game as I didn’t expect him
5. A go-to scoring guard that shoots 29% from 3 = ?

Oh right, draft tonight.

Kinda busy with Olympics

David Johnson to Toronto!

Happy for him.

My old man brain might be failing me, but I can't recall a time where the Olympics, NBA Draft, the opening of training camps in the NFL, and the MLB trade deadline overlapped with each other during the same week. Guess Jeopardy isn't giving the permanent job to LeVar Burton if they scheduled his episodes right now.

Jeopardy! should have jumped on the Rodgers drama and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. He sits for a year, on TV, regularly dunking on the Pack, then comes back for Baby Shanny in Santa Clara.

Spoiler:

They probably already picked Ken Jennings to take over a year ago with Alex's blessing when Ken got an Executive Producer role and on-screen appearances for reading clues in certain categories. The whole guest host thing was to fill out the season order for syndication and let Ken start a new season with a clean sheet and rebuilt sets. Oh yeah, and he's openly mocked disabled gaming advocate Steven Spohn on Twitter, which should DQ him for the job in favor of LeVar...

Wait, what thread is this again?

I can't remember either!

I referenced dunking...that's basketball. Right?

Yeah NBA is way late for draft because of bubble/covid delays. Seems like they could have waited another 2 weeks for Olympics to be done though, jeez.

Bill Simmons voice: “Ken Jennings for Pat Sajak. Who says no?”

NHL free agency was yesterday too.

I wanted Evan Mobley just because my old man brain still thinks, everything else being equal, being tall in the NBA is good.

Could GSW not package those two firsts for something good?

Edit: And why is Ricky Rubio a Cav now? I know we lost Delly to an AU team, but couldn't we find someone else to be a backup PG?

Also CONCACAF Gold Cup.
