Kpop music thread. Stan talent, Stan-all.

I completely missed that AKMU was coming back. Interesting concept for a video. Looking forward to what the rest bring.

I haven't seen much going on in Kpop lately, but here's a couple new (to me) things I found.

Loona just did a silly dance cover on a show to 2PM's Heartbeat. I had to check out the original and I'm really liking it. First time I've checked out this group.

Also, I found a TWICE playlist on Youtube and put it on in the background while doing other stuff. I didn't realize the playlist included their Japanese releases so I heard a number of their songs for the first time, including this cover of the Jackson 5 "I Want You Back"

AKMU - '낙하 (NAKKA) (with IU)'

I love this too. It looks like the full 7-song EP is available. I'm gonna check that out.

I'm also enjoying this laid-back solo track from Exo's D.O.

BIBI - WHY Y (Feat. Tiger JK)

SOLAR, MOONBYUL of MAMAMOO 'Promise U'

I'm loving this entire album. Such a good vibe for them.

Dreamcatcher comeback tomorrow I haven't watched the teasers, so not sure what to expect.

Edit: I just read that T-ara is planning a comeback by the end of this year. They are my favorite older-gen group next to SNSD, so I'm really interested to see how they come back. T-ara was famous for their EDM club sound, so I hope they stick with something along those lines. I don't think any of their stuff has been shared in this thread. Here are a couple of their most famous title tracks.

Number Nine:

Sugar Free:

Thanks for posting those. T-ARA is a group I've seen mentioned many times but I don't think I've ever listened to.

I'm also looking forward to Dreamcatcher's comeback and have avoided all teasers.

The opposite is true for Red Velvet, though. They've announced a comeback in August and have been releasing teasers that are just highlights of several of their past great b-sides. How this will relate to their comeback is still unclear, but it's always great to have Red Velvet's discography highlighted.

Queen's Archive - "Something Kinda Crazy" Red Velvet

Queen's Archive - "I Just" Wendy

Queen's Archive - "Talk to Me" Yeri

Queen's Archive - "Perfect 10" Irene

Queen's Archive - "Bad Dracula" Joy

Queen's Archive - "So Good" Seulgi

EDIT:
And look who just dropped a Dance Practice for "Paint the Town". Amazing choreography. I'm no expert but I'd guess this is their toughest choreo yet, and the fact they're so synchronized is simply amazing.

Dreamcatcher - BEcause

I'm loving this Dreamcatcher comeback. The song and video feel very new, but also like a callback to some of the earliest Dreamcatcher songs. Everything about this is so cute but so eerie at the same time. I've never really declared a bias in Dreamcatcher, but OMG Gahyeon is absolutely mesmerizing here.

These made me realize that I completely missed So Good. It looks like it was a part of the RBB album. I didn't care for that title track, so it looks like I unintentionally glossed over checking out the rest of the album. I will have to go back to that.

I've noticed that happening to a lot of people the last few comebacks. It's hard not to be won over with those facial expressions

Another from AKMU - Bench (with Zion.T)

And another song I found a few days ago and haven't been able to get out of my head:
BamBam (from GOT7) - riBBon

T-ara is the group that all but disbanded when allegations of members bullying new member Hwayoung came out and she left the group only for, years later, a former staff member releasing text conversations revealing it was Hwayoung and her sister bullying the others.

Sunmi - You Can't Sit With Us

I like the song but I'm surprised at how much stylized violence is in the video. My guess is this won't get much airtime on S. Korean TV.

Red Velvet - Queendom

Weeekly - Holiday Party (Performance Video)

Their MV for Holiday Party came out a couple weeeks ago. It's also worth checking out, but I'm vibing with the performance vid that was just released.

Brave Girls - After We Ride

And I'm reminded that not all groups get the miraculous save that Brave Girls got when I saw something posted on Reddit about the group Solia who debuted last week and then their company disbanded them 5 days later. This is their song, Dream. (I'm getting a message that playback on other sites has been disabled for this video, so I've edited this post to link to youtube instead).

I see an obvious lack of money, poor production and questionable effects in the video, but I also see some talent and a lot of potential. Too bad these girls didn't find their way to a company that could support them better.

And in other news, There are reports that Joy from Red Velvet is dating soloist, Crush. Here's the song they did together last year:

Both have made comments to social media that seem to confirm this, but it seems they're still figuring out how serious this might be. Both apologized to fans that they found out this way and said they would have preferred to let fans know themselves - when and if the two of them had something definite to announce. Sucks that they've been outed this way, but I also take it as a win anytime this sort of news doesn't become a scandal that leads to members being ousted from their companies (like Hyuna and Dawn a couple years ago).

KWON EUN BI - Door

Former member/leader of IZ*ONE debuts as soloist.

CL - SPICY

Pre-release single - new album out in October

I didn't know IZ*ONE had disbanded

It had to do with the Produce 101 debacle, right?

I think groups formed from the “Produce” shows are always meant to be temporary. I.O.I., Wanna One and X1 each lasted about a year each. I seem to remember reading the same was supposed to be true for IZ*ONE, but I think the success and the desire of the members to stay together kept them around well over twice as long as expected.

DJ SODA X LOST CHAMELEON - 'OKAY! (ft. AHIN of MOMOLAND)' (Official Video)

LOONA (Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Yves) - NOT FRIENDS (Prod. by Ryan Jhun)

Ah, you beat me to posting it

I had a hunch that you would be aware of this song coming out.

STAYC - Stereotype

And here's one I missed from last week. Great to see something new from fromis_9.

fromis_9 - Talk & Talk

HYO- Second (Feat. BiBi)

Purple Kiss - Zombie

LISA - 'LALISA' MV

HyunA & Dawn - 'Ping Pong' MV

BIBI - PADO

MAMAMOO - mumumumuch

This single is the new song from the 2 CD release "I Say Mamamoo! The Best" which will feature many of Mamamoo's past songs reworked/re-recorded.

Also, Loona has made their Japan debut with "Hula Hoop". No MV (yet?) so here's the audio.

The single includes another song called Starseed, a Japanese version of Paint the Town and a City Pop version of Hula Hoop.

Some boy group energy for the weekend:

Stray Kids - Thunderous

ATEEZ - Deja Vu

NCT 127 - Sticker

Ok I know this is TV and not music but I feel like there may be some crossover, so I'll crosspost this. I checked the Wikipedia page to find the description and opened heaps but still can't find it.

I started watching Korean medical dramas, there was one I watched the first episode of that seems to have dropped off my recently watched list and I can't remember the name of it.

A kid causes a scene in the ER because a VIP goes into surgery and is fine while the kid's dad dies despite arriving first. The kid then goes on to be a doctor in the same hospital to correct the hospital's mistake. Does anyone know this one?

I don't know specifically that one off hand. Is it Cross? Maybe try Doctors, Doctor Stranger, Doctor John, or Yong Pal? I haven't seen any of those so I don't know the particulars of the plot, but they were really popular.
