Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

Haha and Justin Long as Roboto. This voice cast is fun.

Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man! Of course he and Hamill had to work together again.

Edit: I didn't even catch Alicia Silverstone was the Queen in the first episode

Tony Todd as Scare-Glow.

Holy sh*t that (He-Man) was awesome. And yeah, where's the rest of the damn season?

RE, the series spoilers

Spoiler:

Lots of almost revelations where people were trying to tell each other important things but got cut off.

Sorceress in the opener wanted to see Teela one last time? She's her mom or grandmother. Man at Arms adopter her or whatever, but she's meant to take over as the new sorceress maybe?

And yeah, Adam trying to tell Teela he loves her. Man at Arms and Teela. Multiple times with the "I have to tell you..." and then usually cutoff by Evil-Lyn

And Dennis "President Palmer" Haysbert voice acting too!

That's "God" to you,

Thanks for pointing me towards Fear Street and the He-man stuff! Gonna add to my list today for some weekend viewing.

I'm interested in watching He-Man, but I never watched the original show. I know nothing about the character other than he doesn't seem to like clothes and he has a big sword. Would I be able to follow the revival or would I be totally lost?

I never saw the original show and I did not have a problem following the plot. You should be good to go

They give a less-than-a-minute intro at the start. He-Man good, Skeletor bad. Sword magic. Go.

That's pretty much all you need.

Which I was delighted to see used...

Spoiler:

... the original packaging art from the toyline.

Of course, there were other wink-wink, nudge-nudge jokes in the first episode alone I got a laugh out of:

Spoiler:

"Smells like pine!"

"He-Man finally used his sword on Skeletor!"

He-Man existed to sell toys, the idea that the new series is a continuation in any sort of story sense is, among my friends and I who were all right in the strike zone of the original, one of the most mockable aspects. Some sort of previous affection will probably help, but prior knowledge shouldn't be required. Hell, even the intro feels excessive, and it's mostly there to emulate the art of the toy boxes.

Watched Blood Red Sky and liked it. The movie was to long and parts didn't add up. Also one bad guy was forgotten. The stupid of vampires on a airplane got me. We had snakes on a plane . Next we can have dinosaurs on a plane. Note the movie takes itself seriously. Vampires on a plane is nothing to joke about.

I was only surprised by one scene that might have been homophobic.

Eh, Robot Chicken already did that:

The toys were out long before the show was. As a tween, the pre-show era of the figures provided a cool interactive story telling vehicle between me and one fellow nerd friend. In fact. I thought that I was too old and too cool for action figures when the toys first came out. My friend Dan vehemently denounced my “too cool” attitude and passionately expounded upon the greatness of action figure culture; which was never a phrase until just now.

The real revelation of Masters of the Universe: Revelation is that there was a pretty damn good reason we were all trying to keep Skeletor out of Castle Grayskull back in the 80s.

Masters of the Universe is being review bombed by sad man-children because He-Man isn't prominent enough.

Anyone old enough to care is in their early 40s and it's embarrassing.

Watched Kingdom Ashin of the North which was epic. It brought all the politics of Kingdom and topped it off with Zombies. We get the reason for zombie attacks in the first two seasons. We knew the how but not the why. The show does not disappoint. I kind of forgot there were even zombies in it for bit until the S hit the fan.

Acting is great, camera work is great, sound is great. Need season 3 now. I need to know if the nation is going to fall because dumb dumbs are running it or are the zombies going to eat everybody. Also need one of those hats.

If there is a follow-up season (and if He-Man is alive, haven't watched it yet), Smith should make him gay...maybe even a power bottom.

Glad to hear the show is newbie friendly. I'm sure I'll miss out on some things, but that's fine. Who knows, maybe I'll end up watching the original series in between seasons 1 and 2 if I like it.

Although I am disappointed to hear He-Man isn't that prominent in the show. From what I've read -- despite trying to avoid spoilers -- Teela is the real main character. This was supposed to be my introduction to the He-Man character, but if it's more of a spinoff focusing on someone else then it's not a very good introduction. Hopefully he still gets some significant scenes so I can get to know the character and he doesn't get killed off in some big twist. I know there's a big twist, but thankfully I have managed to avoid the details of it.

As far as characters go, He-Man isn't terribly deep. The name pretty much says it all.

I've started watching solely because of the controversy. I played with He-Man toys in the 80s but as far as IPs go, it was one of the more silly ones, IMHO. I'm impressed that Smith managed to take the concept and craft an interesting story out of it. I'm enjoying it and the cast is top-notch.

There's literally nothing to He-Man, he was just an empty vessel. Big muscled Conan rip-off, but less interesting because he was made to sell toys to children.

Even as a 6-year old he was the least interesting toy.

Should have brought back Thundar the Barbarian. That was at least an interesting post apocalyptic premise ;P

Was that gate to the Mines of Moria that Evil-Lyn manifested?

Edit: Just finished.

We all agree that Teela's big secret is that she is

Spoiler:

the daughter of the Sorceress (and probably Man-at-Arms).

Right?

Characters don't have to be deep or complex to be likeable. Sometimes a simple barbarian who wants to yell about Greyskull and beat up an evil skeleton is all you need. Batman is cool, but Superman isn't boring.

Anyway, I'm staying out of this thread until I catch up and that could be a while since I still need to finish Castlevania. You guys are getting way too close to major spoiler discussion for me.

Nevermind, nothing to see here.

He-Man is just 5 episodes. You can be caught up in just over 2 hours.

Apparently, the prequel to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead arrives this fall. That was fast!

Watched Gunpowder Milkshake and liked it. Not a very deep movie but I watched it for bang bang action and it gave me bang bang action. Pretty camera work, good fight scenes, and some very creative scenes. Its in the same tone of john wick. Evil group gets mad at their killer. Killer gets other killers sent out on them. Fight, fight, fight.

Note don't drink milkshakes with gunpowder in it.

FTFY

I found the fight choreography uninspiring and just bad.

I just loved that there was a guy armed with a 2x4.
