Video Game Deals Catch-All

I played it on Steam I think, very fun.

Yeah and there was DLC with the Portal AI.

Just a well polished game. A lot of phone and indie PC clones since but not many as fun.

GMG is doing a summer sale with a free game every day. Today was Shenmue 3, but apparently they ran out of keys already. So watch for other games through Aug 5.

Edit: there's a timer on main page. So apparently 11am eastern tomorrow.

Yesterday's was gone in less than 15 minutes, and I cannot find the giveaway today.

They probably realized they chummed the waters and now the bots are circling...

PSN summer sale started. Returnal and Demon's Souls PS5 are both $20 off, lowest price so far.

Also Amazon prime gaming is giving away Battlefield 1 on Origin. I redeemed and then origin showed I already had it but it stupidly let me redeem the code so I have it twice now? But anyway if someone else already has it, can share codes in the key giveaway thread.

Given Housemarque was recently acquired by Sony, I'm betting Returnal's going to make an appearance as a PS+ game by the end of the year.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - PS4 & PS5 (Standard Edition) [PSN]

$34.99 $49.99

The Ultimate Edition is on sale for $55.29 $69.99.

Battlefield 1 is free for Prime Subscribers. Code unlocks on Origin.

Edit: And it looks like Battlefield V will go up for free August 2nd.

I seriously doubt that'll happen by the end of the year. Sony doesn't exact have a ton of PS5 exclusive games launching. Sony funded and published the game, so it was always on track to be a PS+ in the longterm, I just don't think they'll do it by the end of this year since it's one of their premier titles for PS5.

Free on the Epic Game Store this week: Defense Grid: The Awakening & Verdun

Free on the Epic Game Store next week: Mothergunship & Train Sim World 2

Apparently Epic gave away Defense Grid already since I own it there.

Also, they have some sales. Oxygen Not Included is $10, only $1 more than it's lowest price ever. May finally pick that up.

ONI is great - easily worth a tenner. The game engine has a really impressive level of detail, between temperature management, fluid dynamics, airflow, etc. And that's barely even scratching the surface.

Might as well link to the full Epic Summer Sale page.

Newegg combo. $50 Nintendo eShop + $50 Sony PSN for $90.

Also Mass Effect Legendary at Newegg for $40 on PC (Origin). Believe that's the lowest price so far.

As someone who has been sucked in by this again, probably for my third 80+ hour stint, it gets my thumbs up. I think it's my favorite Dwarf Fortress-like. This game is seriously deep. I've started 4, 10 hour colonies this week, each one in a little better state overall than the last, but still all feeling sloppy and making me want to start over. I'm still not doing any medium complexity stuff, like plastic or space, much less running multiple simultaneous colonies on different asteroids. It can be frustrating, but worthwhile.

Amalur re-reckoning $20 on Xbox. Hmm? Opinions?

It's pleasant enough. Slightly different approach to world-building which is nice.

Buuuut it really shows it's age. If you watch some gameplay on YouTube, that's what you get. Not much left to discover. So if that looks good to you, go for it.

Solid, but outclassed these days.

Ah, thank you. What contemporary games would you compare it to? Witcher?

Hmm...Maybe a mix of the later Fable games and Darksiders? I haven't played either game too in-depth though.

It's a chunky feeling action RPG with a hack'n'slash vibe. Simple, flashy and satisfying moves but not a huge amount of complexity.

Yeah, I would say it's like a well-polished Diablo clone but with better writing (albeit still generic fantasy) and in a third person action-adventure setup, or like a singleplayer MMO. The loot collection is satisfying, the combat is satisfying and the exploring is satisfying, but it doesn't really drastically change that loop so you may end up getting bored before you reach the end.

Death Stranding for PC is $20 on Newegg (Steam Key) through Wednesday

I decided that was an acceptable price for a walking simulation with long cut scenes.

I actually finished it BECAUSE it didn't ask too much of me as a player, yet kept offering ways to throw flaming chakrams at bad guys, which never stopped being fun as heck.

Interesting. Is the director's cut confirmed for PC or just PS5?

Don't get that name "Directors cut" on Death Stranding, as if the game wasnt all of it made on Kojima's mind, whatever he wanted it's there. I remember he said on an interview that he also didnt like the name "director's cut", he said something on the line of Death Stranding "plus".

Just PS5 for now, but I imagine it will make its way to PC eventually.

Free in the Epic Game Store this week: Mothergunship & Train Sim World 2

Free in the Epic Game Store next week: A Plague Tale: Innocence & Speed Brawl

Haha just got plague tale on PS+.

Sometimes I wonder what I'm paying for there

Marvel Avengers free weekend on Steam. Going to try it out at least.

Grounded - that "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" game - is also having a free weekend on Steam.
