It is. It's actually really common when it's a Japanese starter since that came is broadcast nationally in Japan.

Where/when are such games broadcast?

I’m not sure the channel or the timing since I never had cable but my in-laws do and made a point of always watching Tanaka’s starts. Four or five years ago I watched a Mariners - Blue Jays game live because Iwakuma was starting.

I would've assumed if anyone knew, you would fenomas!

I mean, while I'd love to see what the nightly TV listings in Japan are, I don't think I can find them (or read them, for that matter).

I see a lot of people clowning on the name but I like it a lot. No current professional sports teams with that name in North America and is a reference to local monuments.

For the logo they just slap a C or G over a stylized shield and they’re done.

Better than Cleveland Baseball Team right?

Cleveland's MLB team reveals its new mascot.

I was rooting for Spiders, but I will wear Guardians merch and not feel like a ducking racist.

The Guardians of Traffic

I didn't even know they existed before today, but I've only been in the area for a decade.

Edit: My way into the city doesn't go past them. Explains that!

That's an unlicensed-baseball-video-game-ass name. Don't get why they didn't just go with Spiders. And, I f*cking hate spiders.

Spiders is an unlicensed-baseball-video-game-ass name too.

On that note, what's stopping people from showing up in the ball park in the old Chief Wahoo merch?

But it's a preexisting unlicensed-baseball-video-game-ass name that was already tied to the city.

Take a guess at how many people at University of North Dakota hockey games are wearing Sioux jerseys instead of Hawks jerseys. If your answer was 99% or below, it was too low.

There have been 7 no-hitters in MLB this season. 1 short of the record set in 1884.

THE FIRST SEASON OVERHAND PITCHING WAS ALLOWED

Time to introduce the pitching pit.

My Yankees traded for Joey Gallo, and I gotta say, that dude is everything I hate about modern baseball.

He's slashing .223/.379/.490 and it's his second-best season at the plate ever. I hate it.

Also, I wonder when it will finally get through the Yankees' heads that their whole "We don't rebuild, we reload" business model of perpetual success is no longer working and hasn't in over a decade. Especially because they can't just wait to poach other team's starts in free agency anymore, because those dudes are getting locked up on monster contracts early now. They'd have to hope to swing a trade, except the Yankees have no assets to trade, because 1/2 of their players are "stars" on contracts no-one else in MLB would take and they have no farm system because they trade all of their prospects and refuse to bottom out and get some good ones in the draft.

LOL SCHERZER TO THE DODGERS GOOD GOD

AND TURNER

Rizzo to Yankees

Did they start asking about Turner before or after they dropped the series to the Giants today?

I tend to only pay attention to baseball nowadays during the trade deadline and the playoffs. How come it seems every year even decent teams just give all their best players to the Yankees and Dodgers?

Which decent teams did that? The Nationals, Rangers, and Cubs, have all been bad. The Dodgers also have an unfairly huge high-level prospect pool and both are willing to eat ALL THE SALARY.

Granted, the Cubs owners have decided to pretend to be poor since they won the World Series.

Yeah, the Yankees didn't get Tatis Jr., or Vladdy Jr., or Scherzer (who would've actually been incredibly helpful) or Juan Soto or anyone like that.

They just traded for a dude who hasn't been an All-Star since 2016 and currently has a blistering WAR of 1.2 this season. Beloved, but not actually a game-changer.

Also, as Vector noted, the Cubs are 50-54 and are emphatically aiming for "around .500," and the Rangers (who sent Joey Gallo) are exponentially worse.

No half-decent decent team gave the Yankees sh*t.

EDIT: Also, the Nationals are also well under .500, letting the Dodgers eat the rest of Scherzer's contract and getting a haul of prospects in return is almost certainly the right move.

Wow. Javy Baez to the Mets.

The Cubs are just totally bottoming out.

Rizzo, Baez, Kimbrel, Tepera, and guaranteed to trade Bryant too.

This is how I'd strip a team for parts in OOTP. Jesus.

Bryant to the Giants.

That’s the most players to make ASG & change teams in a season
