What are you playing this weekend?

It's a button-mashing weekend for me: Transformers: Devastation and Dragon's Crown Pro.

Mostly Rainbow Six: Vegas, as I continue my journey through
the Finished Games thread.

I will continue to poke at Monster Hunter Stories 2, with a dash of leveling up some classes in FFXIV.

Star Wars The Old Republic - my Sith Assassin is on the last chapter of the original storyline now.

Not sure after that, it's meant to be about 29 degrees here tomorrow, which might make it one of the few days in the UK where sitting out in the back garden without a coat and umbrella within reach is an option.

Mass Effect 2, Deep Rock Galactic, and trying to not die in this heat.

I think I’m close to beating Mafia III but it’s hard to know for sure.

Tell me about it. It was so hot I ended up playing Far Cry: Primal although, to be fair, the two things may not be related. Here’s hoping it’s cooler today.

Akiba Trip. It is a Climax joint. I own it and oh boy 10 years have passed and the remaster is out soon. The PS3 version technical is pretty bad. Surprising because there is a Vita version too. Welp vampires I guess.

Pillars of Eternity 2

Um, this is really, really good.

It's like someone said "hey I see you like Baldur's Gate 2, so I took Baldur's Gate 2 and I added Sid Meier's Pirates! and combined it with Pillars of Eternity but this time made Pillars of Eternity easier to follow and made every feature in Pillars of Eternity even better."

and some MMO called World of Warcraft. It's decent.

I'm getting close to the end of Monster Hunter Stories (iOS). I might try to polish it off this weekend. I may also try to finish Lego Builder's Journey (PC).

This game is very high up on my CRPG Pile O' Shame. That, and the Original Sin games (especially 2.)

...at least I beat Disco Elysium, which is the best CRPG of the last ~5 years??

I've been grinding levels and items in Dragon Quest XI S, so I may likely continue doing so. Aside from that, I've been putting off doing the temple of light in OoT 3d and there's plenty of Monster Hunter Stories to go around.

Back in my day, we went through the water temple* without being able to equip/unequip the heavy boots without going into the menu and unequipping it every time. We were grateful when we got to the temple of light, and played it with smiles on our faces because we knew how bad it could be. Kids these days are a bunch of ungrateful lilly-livered ninny-nannies!

Spoiler:

*Uphill both ways! With a Poe chasing us!

Gonna be a busy weekend but hoping to fit in some Final Fantasy XIV (gotta grind that Gold Saucer currency!) and will be streaming Remnant: From the Ashes.

It is and will continue to be a RPG club party. Playing Outer Worlds with the CRPG club (I made it to Monarch, and the skybox is very pretty), and Monster Hunter Stories with the JRPG club (just made it to the snowy region).

Still playing these two, although I'm past Monarch in Outer Worlds and may beat the game in the next week, and I'm in the Desert region in MHS.

Oh, I've done it on the OG 64 and again in the Master Collection that came with my now-defunct GC. I do appreciate those quality of life improvements, though!

EDIT: But have you done it while playing in 20 ft of snow!?

Plus some Star Fleet II and Warhammer: Inquisitor.

Still grinding away at Mafia III. Starting a road trip on Sunday so I might not get too far. I’m getting close to the end and I still haven’t unlocked all of the perks. Kinda lame. A game like this should be paced so that you have almost every perk by the time you’re 60% through. I’m probably 80% through but I’ve only unlocked half of the vehicles. 40% of the weapons. It’s so close to being a near perfect game. I’m really surprised that they haven’t balanced things by now.

Hmm, now that my SWTOR Sith Sorceror is basking in the end of her initial storyline, it's time for something else.

Time for some My Team career mode on F1 2021, I think. Which will probably be mostly tweaking car liveries, overall colours and team logos, leaving about 20 minutes late on Sunday for some actual testing.

Scratch the testing, I've forgotten about team activities and R&D allocations.

How long are weekends, again ?

Playing Outer worlds (switch) for the crpg club. Will put some time into Hitman 3 and Control.

Lots of Streets of Rage 4 so far, which is FANTASTIC. Last level is tough though. Made it to the final boss once so far and then got obliterated.

Also planning on some Koudelka, Panzer Dragoon Remake, Batman Returns and God of War 3. I might start something else as well.

Will be spending time in Horizon Zero Dawn. Finally finished Days Gone last weekend so was able to move on to a new game. Had played about 10 hours of this on the PS4 before some reason moving on to something else. Now playing on PC. Been so busy this I've only just gotten to right before the new brave proving test.

Game is running a bit slow on my rig which has been showing its age in the last year. So the game will run anywhere between 35-60 fps but most of the time it's in the 40-50 fps range. With g-sync it'll play buttery smooth down to about 45 fps. When it goes below that g-sync isn't gonna help you any more. But still sticking with it. Most of the game is in the open areas which isn't too taxing. It's near and in the towns where I start seeing the fps drop.

So looking forward to spending some more time with it and hopefully this time finish it.

Going to fix my Switch Joycon. It's gots the drift. I dont know if it will help but I will toss the magical paper inside as well.

Game wise more Paper Mario and the Origami King and Grandia 2.

I'm playing Arkham City, which I apparently played for the last time almost exactly two years ago before abandoning it when it dawned on me I wasn't having a lot of fun with the game. I've been in a Batman/Catwoman mood lately, so I thought I'd give it a second chance, and so far... hmmm... I'm not sure. Maybe I like it?

Pressing on with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on and off stream. Got the hard game itch again, which means I've started a fresh character on Nioh 2 because I haven't aborted enough playthroughs on this one as it is.

Rimworld

help

More Mutant Year Zero. Turns out I’m REALLY into Mutant Year Zero. I can tell I’m into it by the fact that, when I come across an area of ridiculously over powered enemies with more health than a Sherman Tank who all become alerted if you adjust a shoulder strap too loudly, I don’t think, ‘screw you game and your ridiculous enemies,’ …well I do but then I go off and re-explore old maps or find different enemies to fight intent on levelling up and returning to take down that seemingly impossible camp.

It’s rough around the edges but it’s also classic, satisfying, turn based gaming at it’s best.

Continuing to chip away at Sleeping Dogs. I'm at the frustrating bits though, so I've been skimming my backlog for a relief game. I keep thinking of grinding out some levels in Dragon Quest XI before pushing forward. That first gate guardian of the floating fortress took both squads to finally take down. I'm guessing the actual boss may be a notch or two more difficult.

I'd be really curious to read your thoughts on Koudelka. I tried playing it a few years ago, and gave up on it pretty quickly.

Those Pillars aren't going to reach eternity without me...
