It really does continue to be an astonishing value for money, if the games available are up your street.

I would agree but I have had crap luck with the PC side of the game pass. Some games work other just won't launch. If I get an xbox then it may be worth it for me.

Yeah, I hope Windows 11 does something with the Microsoft Store/Xbox app. Such as making it actually work.

As for the Steam sale; I have a few thing sitting in my cart
Griftlands
Monster Train

Also considered Final Fantasy 14, but Square Enix apparently wanted to make it as complicated as possible, so Steam client can't be used with an old account. Non-steam client on sale at GMG too in any case.

On the odd occasion, the little Xbox window that pops up for Authentication/you to click 'Let's Play!' appears 'behind' a full-screen game, so it's sitting waitng for you to click Let's Play, but you can't see it. killing the non-responsive game with ALT+F4 or what have you also kills the auth window, so you never see it to make the connection.

I first saw this with Football Manager 2021, where the initial splash screen would appear, then it would just sit there, doing absolutely nothing, but have seen various incarnations of the issue since.

Might be worth another try with those games ou couldn't get to launch? Once I know to look out for that, I haven't come across any game-breaking issues. I will admit that the whole App does seem rather clunky and cumbersome compared to existing PC game-apps, but hopefully it will continue to get there.

Loved the first Telltale Batman, and saw the second on sale last month, but then also rumored to be in Amazon free games so I waited. Nice!

Just to clarify, it's "Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead" which will be free next week.

Yeah that is the one I bought.

I just tried playing Spectrum Retreat. Spent half an hour searching for clues to find a 4 digit door code. Was told to look for something out of place on other doors. Other doors have 3 digit numbers on them and some of the numbers are worn out. Spent the above mentioned half and hour trying combinations of worn out numbers. Eventually gave up and googled the answer only to find out that

Spoiler:

thr number should have been in plain sight on a door hanger that for some unknown reason just hadn't appeared.

Uninstalled.

Not trying to talk you out of it obviously, but as a report for others, personally I liked Spectrum Retreat. It's a linear FPS puzzler, that alternates between walking-simulator levels (that gradually reveal the story), and puzzle levels in the mode of Portal (different puzzle mechanics, but similar gameplay).

It's relatively bite-sized, I finished it with 5.5 hours total played time.

See it sounds fun but I can't be doing with spending time trying to solve a puzzle that may or may not be unsolvable.

I tried out Ironcast which is free from Epic store.
Looks neat but the gameplay gets annoying fast since the AI basically is cheating.

Totally reasonable - my view is one has to be brutal with the epic pile. I remember thinking Moonlighter looked really interesting, but I uninstalled it because the tutorial did a bunch of things that I hate it when tutorials do.

Why do you say that the AI is cheating? I played it a bit last night and was enjoying it. I don't really like the opacity of the AI's actions.

I guess what you said more than cheating. There's no idea what the ai is doing, so it's too much of a black hole instead of strategic.

Agreed. But, what I do like about it is that there are a bunch of other mechanics besides just the basic match 3 mechanic. Also, it was free.

Is this game any good? I was super interested before release.

That's a STEAL at that price. I got it for $20 a couple of years ago, and it was absolutely worth the money (I still want to go back and get the DLC because I had so much fun in that world). The game is super fun, and the narrator is hilarious. A very underrated game, in my opinion.

And if you want a co-op buddy, I could be talked into it...

The BioWare Bundle - which has Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda is available on the psn store for $11.99

I bit because I like them and never finished either. It seemed to include all the DLCs for both games.

Some good deals in the GamesPlanet 15th Anniversary Medieval & Strategy Sale

Best of all, get a free copy of Northgard when you spend at least £3.50 (approx $5)

might have been a mistake. Back to $22 but that's still a deal.

Free on Epic next week: Defense Grid: The Awakening & Verdun

Oh I love Defense Grid. That was a fun one years ago

Defense Grid was really fun back on the… 360?

I think that’s the same game I am thinking of. You build defenses against waves of robots while a base AI talks to you the entire time.
