Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

Fixture S1 is the pro controller attachment. Spkieout tried and said it was great so I got one too and it's great. I play 90% of my Switch time that way.

Does anyone else get numb pinkies when playing in handheld? I think I might need to get one of those pro controller attachments that someone here had very good opinions of.

Yup
I had a plastic cover that helped and now use that replacement joycons that are super comfy.

I’ve been using Satisfye grip. Which replacement joycons do you use?

We have two and other than no Amiibos, they are great.

Counterpoint, the Hori was great, but they broke on me after only 3 months. Shoulder button quit working. So I replaced with the fixture.

It is so frustrating Nintendo still didn’t include Bluetooth headphone support.

Nintendon’t do Bluetooth.

Sony had it on the Vita.

I thought all the Bluetooth bandwidth was taken up by supporting 8 Joycon controllers.

It was too laggy so I think they cheaped out on the components.

One of the best investments I made was the Genki Bluetooth adapter. They make a few different editions, but y’know, $50 is steep, but it’s been worth it.

More pressure might wear things out completely in the end, but I'll be trying this later today.

How do you permanently fix your Joycon drift? You dump them in the trash and buy a Hori.

I was just about to ask if anyone has tried this yet!

If you find that dude's intro annoying (I genuinely almost closed the video and didn't watch because I found it irritating) this link takes you directly to the fix:

You need to have the correct screwdriver sets, first off. Anyone with a ifixit kit or whatever will have what's needed for the JoyCons.

That said, I had recently used contact cleaner on my drifting JoyCon, so I wasn't able to replicate the pressure thing he does in the video (before opening it and putting in a mm thick piece of paper). Meaning, I didn't open mine up just yet. When it drifts a bit more I'll give it a proper go.

NoA Twitter says OLED preorders start today at noon Pacific time. 3.5 hours from this post

Oh goodie! Forced "refresh" frenzy!

If it means the secondary market will be flooded with, or at least get more of, fully functional Switches, why not?

Looks like I got a red/blue model. Wanted the white but eh, I’ll take it!

Didn't get one but it was my fault for not starting the process until 2 minutes past the hour.

This new way of getting consoles is less fun than standing in line at retailers. At least there you were sharing an experience with other fans (idiots)

I didn't bother with the OLED. Instead, I'm gonna hack my OG unit for some extra performance. Great job, Nintendo!

Price on that is HIGH.

Joking aside, I'm excited and going to ask if that can be a holiday 2021 present for myself.

I think for most buyers, the cost of Steam games vs. the cost of Switch games would close that gap pretty significantly.

For people with existing Steam libraries but would be starting from zero with a Switch, the gap is annihilated.

Granted, making apples-to-apples comparisons of two very different software libraries is pretty impossible. But the Switch Tax is certainly real.

TBH the price is lower than I expected considering it’s not a closed ecosystem. It’s just Arch Linux under the hood so you can run tons of stuff on this that you couldn’t run on a Switch easily. Lutris allowed many PC games to run. Emulators. Etc.

I was joking and not trying to hijack this thread. Shall we start a Switch Deck thread?

Edit: there’s a thread so I’ll see myself out https://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/...

I thought it was pretty in line for a portable PC that could play my Steam library.

Can someone please just say the price. It won’t load lol

Well, maybe. Impressive as Valve's WINE/Proton stuff is, the games still (mostly) aren't running natively and there are games that just don't work with it.

Though given the internals, I don't think it'll take people too long to get Windows installed on it.

Blind_Evil wrote:

$399 for base model, without dock. $649 for high end, also without dock.

Blind_Evil wrote:

$499 Canadian for base model which, if I know my conversion, is about $20 USD.
Ok maybe more like $400.

I’d be curious at those prices, but dubious it’ll run really high end games well? I dunno. I’ve been emphatically out of PC gaming for more than a decade now. If the impressions are great, maybe I’ll get one down the line.

I also managed to get a white Switch OLED preorder about 5 minutes ago so keep your eyes peeled if you want one.
