Random thing you loathe right now.

You know, after sitting for a year and a half, I wasn't expecting my car to actually start, but I was still disappointed when I turned the key and all the electricals instantly died.

Ummm… you could have just took a joy ride every week. Roll down the windows. Crank up the tunes.

Full story: in early 2020 I took the old radiator out with the intent of replacing it. Then 2020 happened and I wasn't really thinking about the car. I finally put the new radiator in this week, and bought a new battery and put that in, and now I'm not sure what's wrong. I'll check the fuse box tomorrow? Anyway, one way or another I will get this car running and rest assured that is exactly what I plan to do.

Best of luck, my friend!

The cost of new windows in a 60+ year old house.

We just got some Andersen windows in our 70s ranch style house. They were not cheap. The ones they replaced were crap though. Lots of very large windows for a small house.

The latest imdb redesign. Jesus f*cking christ how everything wastes space and gives you none of the information you actually want.

$20k for 9 Renewal by Anderson windows, the composite material ones. Thats with a 26% discount off the top, which they gave to us, even though we signed up after June was over and a 3% discount extra since we signed up while the lady was there. We had to get 3 of the windows with tempered glass - 2 were within 5 feet of the front step and one was the bathroom window which is within 3 feet of the tub due to code.

Had an audio issue for a month or so in an application. Couldn't hear though headphones. Spent some time today finally googling to fix it...

Sound was just set too low in the app..

I hate how Win10 handles per-application volume levels, so I created a quick batch file to delete all the individual application volume settings whenever something weird happens. Feel free to steal it.

code wrote:

@ECHO OFF

ECHO Reset Volume Mixer Settings...

NET STOP Audiosrv
NET STOP AudioEndpointBuilder

REG DELETE "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore" /F
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore"

NET START Audiosrv

I wonder if that will fix the win 10 bug that popped up the last few months.

After I use headphones my keyboard volume controls quit working until the next reboot.

It will shows that it's changing volume on the top left overlay. But when you mouse over the volume icon in task tray, it's still on whatever it was. And clicking that is the only way to actually change volume. Sucks.

Stele, Voice Meeter will take care of that Win10 device switching weirdness. Makes it much easier.

I am a steward with a national union in Canada. I just had to refuse my services, for the very first time, to a member.

Doesn't feel good at all.

Did you at least apologize profusely?

Nope. There is no requirement for us to represent someone for getting disciplined for blatant antisemitism. I pointed him to the national office and said "you can get help from them."

It could be worse. What if you were duty bound to represent him?

Was it one of those, “oops. I accidentally did a racism.” Or was it unabashed unapologetic anti-semitism?

Legally, I am duty-bound to represent him. However, legal precedent says that saying "there are a list of stewards here, and here is the contact number for the national office" is considered as fulfilling my duty as a steward.

And it was unapologetic anti-semitism. On a international public-facing website. Where they had their employer listed.

Given someone from the public reported them, and was able to find the person liking other anti-semitic comments, and our employer requires us to sign a code of Values and Ethics (that has stood up in court NUMEROUS times) that this behaviour doesn't just violate, but drives over several times with a truck, I suspect the meeting today will not go well.

Good.

A random phone OS update changed all of my saved WiFi connections to randomize my MAC which was screwing up my network connections for days until I figured it out (I use a MAC address white list on my home router). Ugh.

Driving can be so aggravating sometimes. Like, person honking at me. I'm not going to do something dangerous/aggressive to save you five seconds. Bleh.

But I am willing to go slower and safer.

I can't find my DS Lite.

I played Samus Returns on 3DS recently and had the urge to dig out Zero Mission and/or Fusion. Found the games no problem. They are stored in my DS cases on the side shelf of my entertainment center. Ok so the system isn't with the games...

Had a bunch of controllers (PS3, Wii, etc.) and my PS Vita TV stored in the entertainment center drawer. Maybe the DS Lite is in there... nope...

OK fine, there's a drawer on my desk with spare mice, batteries, etc. Maybe I sat it there... nope...

OK my closet has the box of all the old games. The NES/SNES/N64 are in there. I unhooked them all 3 years ago when we were getting the nursery ready and got rid of the old CRT TV. Hm... there's the DS Lite box! Also the GBA SP box. Got them both out. No DS Lite in its box. WTF.

GBA SP is in its box at least. So now I have a possible way to play. Holy crap this thing is so small, how did I ever play it without massive hand cramps? I really have to find the DS Lite...

If you drop a roundish-bottomed bowl with small lego pieces in it, the way the bowl tips on impact will catapult the bricks with great force into the most inaccessible portions of the room. I found all but one, and I can replace it for a couple of bucks, but it's still annoying.

My mom had to put down her dog, Sandy, yesterday. Sandy was 18 and loved my dad until he passed away 5 years old. She mostly tolerated my mom but was a big link to my dad.

Good bye Sandy, you will be missed

So sorry Ego

Sorry, Ego.

Sorry to hear Ego, it sounds like it was a good, long life though.

Air pressure related pains. Specifically headaches and arthritis, bad enough to cause nausea. Yay. At least I’m enjoying the storms in the vicinity.

Edit; forgot to read the thread.

The stupid face shield in this video. It's a ramp to fire covid at people, for f*ck's sake. Oh my god - how could anybody think that this is a good idea?

Haha even without the video loading I knew that was going to be a Japanese TV show
