Genshin Impact Gacha-of-the-Wild All

All I wanted from this banner was a Xingqiu or two. What I got was 4 Xinyans, 3 Beidous, 2 Favonius Codex's and a Eula. Sigh. I'll be sitting out the next banner as I have no use for Klee with my main being Diluc already and I have a couple constellations on Fischl so I won't be dumb and try to roll for her like I did with Xingqiu...

Ouch, definitely sucks when you don't get what you want. I forget whose banner I rolled on to try to get more Ning, but I think all my Ning rolls resolved to Noelle. Oof.

On the bright side, Eula and Beidou are really nice pieces. Hope those 3 claymore users can share the books.

Yeah, similar to the weapon banner, trying to roll for a specific four star character can be a nasty trap. You might roll them every time, or you might never see them even once.

The rule I have is that I only do it if I would still be happy to have the five star even if they weren't a target, and even then I generally play INCREDIBLY safe about protecting my pity roll -- that is, stop rolling when I'm around 50 or so. As nice as it is to get those constellations for four stars right away, in most cases they'll probably eventually come as you roll for five stars you really want anyway, and rolls are such a rare and costly resource that they really should be saved for banners that are both super exciting AND have some manner of guarantee to get you want you are looking for.

But as peanut said, those aren't the worst possible rolls. Beidou (ESPECIALLY past C2) can be pretty spectacular in the right comps (most of which involve Fischl, who I think you've already got leveled?).

And as for Eula, I know that the prevailing wisdom right now is that she's kind of "meh" due to the fact that it's tricky to manage getting her time delayed nuke to land damage where you want it -- and honestly, they're not wrong -- it IS tricky, and it sucks when you get it wrong or an enemy dodge or shield or whatever robs you of a huge chunk of your damage. Oh, and that even when all circumstances are in her favor, she's still likely to be outdamaged by Hu Tao or Ganyu teams. Buuuut, even still she's now easily my favorite character to default to.

1. She feels fast, dynamic, and powerful to play, and I find working around her weaknesses to be a lot of fun (in contrast to Hu Tao, for example, who is unquestionably wildly powerful, but feels a bit duller to try to play optimally -- not to mention annoying as hell in stamina challenged circumstances).

2. Even without the nuke from her ult, she still hits like a dumptruck and her teams are FAR less concerned about elemental matchups, making it a lot easier to just freely move from activity to activity without having to worry about micromanaging my team composition.

(The only time I ever feel like I've been truly hard countered is with the new Abyss Herald/Lector enemies, since you absolutely need fast elemental hits to get through their shields. Oh, and I suppose wood shielded samachurls, since those are the one obstacle a team with tons of physical, cryo, and electro damage can't do anything about, other than dodge and hit from behind.)

3. My other three heavy hitter carries (Ganyu, Hu Tao, and Keqing) compete heavily for a shared pool of supports. This was great early on since it meant investments in supports could apply to a wider variety of contexts, but it makes it harder to put together two teams that are as strong as possible. Eula, however, doesn't care about many of the usual suspects (ie, Bennett, Xingqiu, Xiangling, or Venti) so she adds some good flexibility in team building for the abyss -- and in general, just adds more variety to what I'm doing in the game. (Granted, for a newer player this is MUCH more of a drawback than a benefit.)

4. She just tears through packs of Fatui enemies in a way that none of my other carries (even Ningguang) can, and it's just so, so fun to melt them away in a way that even highly stacked elemental damage based carries can't begin to approach.

5. Fischl and Beidou feature heavily in her best teams -- in fact, if you've got Diona, you're good to go. My other most common comp for her is Kaeya/Jean/Fischl, for situations where electro damage is disadvantaged or a strong global heal is more useful than a shield (Rosaria is probably better than Kaeya here with her crit sharing, but I don't have her). But Eula/Beidou/Diona/Fischl is crazy strong, and far more versatile than you'd expect for a double cryo/double electro comp thanks to Eula's overwhelming physical damage.

Edit: Caveat emptor -- I have Eula at C1 with a five star weapon and a pretty solid Pale Flame four piece set, which combine to make her auto attacks a lot stronger and thus make her a lot more of an overwhelming force even in situations where you can't guaranteed a hit with the ult nuke. This is a HIGH investment setup. That said, I'm pretty sure most of the above should apply even at C0 with a four star weapon and a less ideal artifact set -- just to a lesser degree.

So, if anyone has some downtime while waiting for 1.6, you might spend a bit of time reading or rereading the Teyvat Travel Guide to learn about what kind of crazy-woman we will (most likely) be dealing with in Midsummer Island Adventure.

Well, my teapot realm is about as done as it's going to get in patch 1.5.

I'm really hoping that the load increase coming in 1.6 will be substantial. While I'm pretty happy with most of my areas, there are a lot of extra touches I'd love to be able to add -- not to mention having the room to add characters!

Regardless, though, I remain really impressed and pleased with the balance they found between ease of use and flexibility with this feature. While it's not mindblowingly powerful, it's just fun and easy to make nice, welcoming environments.

I finally got to the highest ranking to get realm currency and promptly switched to a new realm and set up a nice area that I'm happy with using all my existing exterior items. Only thing is my mansion is on one side of the map and the traveling salesman appears waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay on the other side. Why's it got to be so far away?

I still need to setup my interior stuff. I did a little but it's far from done. But I'm so glad you don't loose your currency rank when you switch out to a different realm so I'm still getting all the coins even though not everything is placed.

Apparently, Mihoyo has finally decided since they can't stop the leaks, they'll just leak them themselves! Or they really want to hype Inazuma.

Yeah, what makes it even stranger is that they don't appear to care at all about leaks for their other game -- basically, as soon as the beta goes out for a patch it seems like it's just open season.

Of course there are plenty of other leaks coming out today: our first looks at the Inazuma world map, two new artifact sets (one gives energy recharge, the boosts burst damage based on energy recharge, the other gives attack and then drains energy on skill use to increase normal/charged/plunge), and various models.

Read a short recap of the QOL changes coming in 1.6.

I am extremely excited about the new hotkeys for party setup and the my friends list. Almost all my appeals to the main menu involve changing teams or visiting teapots. Tubby's menu is also getting an update so you can get everything taken care of in one dialogue session.

It looks like both hosts and guests can finally craft in Co-Op mode. So no more returning to your own world or kicking friends just to make a few condensed resin for more domain runs.

One of the notes is that the Weapon Enhancement Materials interface has been increased from 6 slots to 20 slots. I hope that's true for artifact upgrading as well. Using ~100 1* artifacts to upgrade is a fairly slow process.

Any news about traveling teapot salesman placement? Really annoying having to walk/glide all the way down to the lowest level from the top where my main building is.

The salesman can be in one of several spots for each realm layout. One location is always in the first area that unlocks, but once you've got more areas there's at least two more spots around the zone where he might appear each week.

If proximity to your spawn point is really of concern, remember that you can always move your mansion to whatever region you want.

But that would ruin my planned layout of the mansion at the top of the mountain on the waterfall with it and a cliffside town protected by a fortress from the invading hilichurl hordes below.

Well, I guess you'll have to take a nice walk once a week then.

I reached AR50 this morning with the daily commissions and realize I overstated my preparedness for ascending Rosaria and Jean immediately. I assumed because I had acquired all the items drops needed from their respective hypostasis, that I therefore had enough to craft the respective gems needed to raise them. I found out I was two gold level gems short for both of them when all the crafting was done. So maybe 4 more times or so I'll have to fight each hypostasis again.

Also I think I made a huge mistake by not focusing on their weapon ascension materials, as that's probably a more immediate (and cheaper) jump in power.

Oh well, it's just time and resin, and I don't have to do the quest to raise the world level right away.

Also, so far I've successfully resisted pulling at all on the current event banner for Eula. I've got enough for 31 wishes saved away for another character in the future. And that amount will continue to grow. So in a couple months if the 5-star pyro bow (Amber-plus) character looks to be amazing, or they rerun Ganyu on a banner, I'll be ready (to hope I beat the 50/50).

Sweet!

I'm very tempted to try to build out a second real using that mountain area -- I just love the terrain and variety already baked into it from the start.

We'll see how the patch 1.6 changes direct things though -- it's possible I'll end up just spending a bunch more time tweaking my first area instead.

Just picked up this game yesterday -- about how long is it to do the main questline? I have family out of town for a few days so I'm trying to budget my gaming time appropriately

Hm, that's a very good question -- for most of us it was metered out across patches for the past nine or ten months, so it's hard to say exactly, especially since I'm no longer full clear on which parts of the story I've played were parts of limited events that would no longer be available.

Tscott and ukickmydog have done it a lot more recently though, so hopefully they might have a better sense of it.

It takes a while, more than a weekend, haha. The main reason is because they have it so you can't just plow through the main story line directly. There will be one big storyline quest that will take a couple hours but then the next one is walled behind a level requirement so you have to do other sidequests and such to level up before you can do the next main quest.

Looking back at my posts here it looks like it took me about 2 weeks from when I started to getting to the boss fight for the Mondstadt main questline. Of course, I wasn't trying to speed run or focus just on the main quest- the world is made to explore and of course there's the level requirements that ukick mentioned.

When I did the Liyue main quest that was a few days I think, but I had reached a high enough adventure rank and had explored most the map that I could do it straight through and teleport everywhere.

And of course the real "main quest" is far from done. They just released a couple more quests (about Dainsleif and the Abyss Order) and they'll keep releasing more and more as they release more of the world.

Yeah, the update the current maintenance is for will introduce the prologue for chapter 2 of the main quest, so after 9 months, it looks like we are finally done with the first chapter of 8~9 part story (counting the Mondstedt prologue and possibly an epilogue).

Also, only four hours left until Klee returns! Klee's island adventure! BOOM BOOM BAKUSAN! 1.6 is out!

Also more Klee!

Edit: I know what patch number we are on, really!

So everyone is skipping this banner right? Two of the three 4stars are meh and I've learned my lesson trying to roll for a specific 4 star char. The leaked banner I saw with kazuha had three of the best 4 stars in the game on it so I'll definitely be waiting on that one.

Haha I guess I should have learned my lesson from other gachas... its less about going A to B but more about the journey (grind?) of getting there.

Still I'm excited to get started. Thanks for the input!

Jumping in a bit late to this convo, but...

This is exactly what I do. 4*s will come in time, but 5*s are only guaranteed when you have the pity. I try to only get close to pity on banners where I would like to have the 5* characters.

I have full constellations on Noelle, Xingqiu, and Fischl with this approach, and I'm only one or two copies off full constellations for Sucrose, Xiangling, Yanfei, and Razor. The only one of those characters I purposely rolled for more copies was Fischl, and that was on a banner where I wanted the 5* too.

I still badly want another copy of Beidou for C2, but I didn't want Eula, so I stopped rolling once I hit 50 or 60 rolls. I'll get her C2 eventually.

Fischl and Sucrose are both great

I will definitely be skipping this banner and likely the next as well. I have no desire to pull Klee after lucking into a C4 Yanfei last banner. Kazuha looks pretty cool, but I between Venti, Jean, and Sucrose, I don't feel a need for another Anemo character at the moment.

I'm back up to 13k primogems and 20 or 30 rolls from my next pity. I'll definitely be at double pity before whatever comes after Kazuha.

Oh, why hello there 600 free primos.

Maintenance Compensation: Primogems ×300 (60 Primogems for every hour the servers are down.)

Issue Fix Compensation: Primogems ×300 (Please refer to the relevant compensation mail for more details)

Also two new codes (not sure what the rewards are yet, probably 20~30 primogems each):

Her even number levels are all worth getting. The odd constellations are nice, but two are just the talent level ups and one some people frown on because it adds a bit of random damage, which can mess up some elemental reaction comps.

The two codes are both for some mora, XP mats, refinement mats and some food. Source: I'm logged in now and redemed them.

Free stuff. I'm not complaining.

The only thing that's temping me on the current banner is that I'm at C4 with Sucrose and it'd be nice to get her to C6- but it's possible I could pull wishes forever on this banner and get nothing but Barbara's instead.

So I'm hoping to resist the banner, but there is one thing that I couldn't resist...

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/eyc2q9R.jpg)

Won my 50/50 and Klee's power rises to C1! Barbara made it to C4 and Sucrose to C6! Fischl... is still at C2... that's right, I've only ever pulled her once (and received her once from an event).
