Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr (Catch All)

Yeah it is cheap enough I would just buy the whole package, and like Veloxi said the one campaign feeds into the next. It a fun game and if you want Diablo with guns it is the best option I've ever played.

For me, it’s one of the top 4 ARPGs, with Grim Dawn, Diablo and Path of Exile. Can’t go wrong with any of those.

Yeah it's at the top of my list too, if it didn't exist Grim Dawn would be tops. I think what I love most about it is the mission-based nature. Rather than just flailing around these massive maps, it's one map = one mission, and they never take too long, so you can get your fix in 10-20 minutes or hours if you want. Love it.

I might finally get all the DLC and give it another playthrough. I bounced off pretty hard during it's first release. I had pretty serious performance issues, however.

I ran it on a 970, and now a 1660, so it doesn't take too much. Hopefully it will run well for you.

I definitely recommend creating a season character. It adds a lot of uniqueness to the game I found a touch boring after a while.
I also was extremely exited about the tech adept class but bounced hard on it after me first impression. This morning I gave it a second go and it has made a world of difference. I have yet to delve too deeply into the bot customization but the fact it is there adds impact to the class. I also looted a plasma gun in the tutorial this time around and man if that bendy laseriness isn't full of total awesome, I don't know what is. I hope it is usable by other classes it is that much fun!

side note: I am running it on a rx 580 at 1440p

I'm not sure why it never ran well for me. I'm running a 2060 Super now so I shouldn't have any problems. I originally didn't enjoy how slow the movement was and when that was paired with the performance issues, it became a big slog.

There are movement boosts later on, I think, and some classes are faster than others? I think?

I've mostly played an Assassin which is fairly quick, for this game, but overall this game is slower than a lot of other ARPGs.

Yeah, the Assassin moved well. The Space Marine was plodding but the jetpack was fantastic if equipped. I was in on the ground floor before it even came to Steam. I was a huge fan of the original release of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (although I felt the follow-ups weren't quite as good) but came away pretty disappointed in the final product for this. However, I know they've done a tonne of work and I have the same ARPG tastes as you three.

Yeah it's come a long, long, long way since release.

FYI, the current season ends in a couple of more days. You can still create a seasonal character, but it will get converted to a normal one at the end of the season. I'm not sure when the next season starts, but there was a gap of a few weeks before the current one.

I think they said the next season will happen 2-3 weeks after the current one ends.

Yep. It looks like the current season end got postponed a week, until June 15th. Also, co-op void crusades are getting added with season 3.

Ohhh, co-op Void Crusades are, like, the thing everyone wants.

All this talk. Martyr is fresh installed on the new laptop now. It was a dark, blurry mess when I played it on the old hardware. The rtx 3060 cranking it out now and...it’s still dark but detail all the way up and buttery smooth just as the Emperor intended.

Getting in at the tail end of a season is unfortunate. Might be a good time to play through that Prophecy campaign then come back in a few weeks for new season?

Well starting a new seasonal character will make you go through either the Martyr or Prophecy campaigns anyway, so there'll be some repetition regardless.

Honestly, I'd start a regular character, one you'll think you like, and get used to the systems over the next few weeks. Try different classes. Then you'll be better situated to start a seasonal character with a play style you enjoy, and you won't be confused by the mechanics.

Bleh to playing it safe.
Bleh I say!

That's not it at all. The game requires you to learn a lot of subsystems. Getting them out of the way before the season means less figuring it out when it matters.

Gotta agree with Robear here.

What I really wanted to do was start early in a new Season with an Assassin and give that an honest go this time. Since I'd gone 2/3 through the core campaign a few time with the Crusader and Assassin over the years, I may as well try out the Tech Adept in Prophecy. I suppose I wouldn't mind finishing up Prophecy on a regular toon once the current Season wraps.

Purchased. I like what I’ve played so far. Really dense menus though. Seemingly no explanation for what each attack does or it’s not clear to me what inventory items go where on a character behind trial and error. Lots to learn. Any recommended beginner’s guide or videos?

Thank you,
Chad

Do you guys have a favourite flavour of Psyker that you'd like to share?

I was still learning Psyker, last time I played.

A few questions:

1) advice on how to sort through inventory and select items? I’m a bit overwhelmed with how much stuff I pickup and terms like -1 quality don’t make intuitive sense to me?

2) I’m playing a level 10 crusader. My two weapons are a laser rifle and shotgun. Any reason to have one weapon be a melee?

3) other beginner tips/orientation?

Thanks!
Chad

1. I just mouse over and see what turns green. If it all turns red, sell or break down for crafting materials.

2. Melee is good when you get a swarm at close range. I use it all the time with my assassin. Rifle for the ranged stuff, a couple of warp rods if there's too many in my face.

3. There's a lot in this game so try not to stress about it. Have fun and see where it takes you.

Good advice.

There does not appear to be a way to mark items to sell later, right?
Currently, I am going one-by-one over my items with "compare" activated to decide whether to sell items? There's just a lot of stuff picked up each mission and I'm surprised there is no "junk" or "sell" designation to speed up the sell process or am I missing something?

Beyond color, sale value and comparison of damage, what else should I be looking for when evaluating whether to keep or sell an item?

Thanks,
Chad

When you're in the shop or crafting area, there are buttons that allow you to sell all the items you have of a specific quality, be they blue or green or whatever. Might that be what you're looking for?

I basically look at the overall power level really.

Thank you. I will try that.

I thought there might be a button to mark individual items to sell later kind of like you can do in Borderlands. I'm sure I'll get used to the system.

Thanks!
