Finished Any Games Lately?

I was between big games, so I downloaded Maneater, which I had on PS +. It is a silly little game where you play an eventually overpowered shark. I finished it up with all the trophies in about 10 hours, so it was also nice that it was short. The opening is a little slow until you feel like you are getting really powerful. A good "B" level game.

This is coming to Xbox Game Pass soon and I am looking forward to it.

Yeah Man-eater was great. I posted in the PS5 games thread as I played and platinum'd it. Just so much fun and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

I think I'd really enjoy a 10-15 hour AssCreed game

How well do you remember the later missions of Mafia 2?

I actually really dug the driving to and fro in Mafia 1 back in the day, but that was when open world games were fairly novel to me and before I had kids... One of my favorite memories of the game was getting on the elevated tram and just watching the city go by, being a person in that time and place.

Hmmm, I don't really remember Mafia 2 at all, other than I know I liked it. Maybe one day I'll play it again and it will be like new

Man Eater is great. Bought and played it all the way through on PC when it came out.

Since you played both, this won't be a spoiler anymore Hiding it for anyone else who doesn't want it ruined though.

Spoiler:

I definitely didn't know that!

I just finished off Ending E (and A-D previously) of Nier Replicant v.sqrt(1.5). I can't help feeling like I would have been terribly unsatisfied with the original release leaving off at Ending D; Ending E did a great job of tying everything together again. I definitely enjoyed my 50 hours with it, though I'd still vote for Automata as the superior Nier game, by quite a wide margin.

I just finished Subnautica: Below Zero last night. The first Subnautica was one of my favorite gaming experiences in recent years, and this was mostly more of the same, so I greatly enjoyed it.

The first 2/3 of the game is the most fun. That's when you're focused on surviving, gathering resources, upgrading your gear, building a base and exploring new biomes. I love my base in the twisting corals and can't bring myself to delete the game yet because of it. It's very peaceful walking around in there and looking out at schools of alien fish and bioluminescent plant life and corals.

For the last third I was mainly searching for the exact location of places I needed to go to advance the plot. With all the convoluted cave networks, it became a bit tedious and I found myself resorting to hints online.

If they do make a third game in the series, I hope they implement some kind of mapping system that you can annotate. I understand their reasoning behind not having a map, but maybe they could make it a late game advancement- like you have to get a GPS satellite system up and running first or something.

I never get to post in this thread but lat night I actually finished a game,
I beat Mass Effect 1. I let the council die because it seemed far more important to destroy Sovereign more than because didn't like them. I aslo romances Kaden because he seem the best, and I let Ashley die because she seems like the worst! Wrex lived too but as I recall that doesn't matter much because they force a different ending for him but I am ok with that.
I honestly can't remember the last time I saw credits role in a game. I consider a game finished when I am done with it and that is usually before the developer intends so it was kind of neat.

Now on to ME2

Any tips on playing the first one? I tried to get into it, but had no clue what I was doing. After the opening, I jumped in the water, swam around and had no direction on what to do or where to go. I eventually swam too close to the crashed ship that had radiation that killed me. I played again and still didn't know where to go or what to do, outside of being told I needed to find something to eat. Then I drowned while looking for stuff to eat.

You can grab nearby small fish. Just swim up to them, hit the grab button, then bring them back to your pod and cook them up. Also there should be a few emergency rations and water in the pod to help you get started.

Yep, swim around grabbing fish to cook at the fabricator in your life pod. That’s also how you get water too. Then you focus on collecting the little mineral nodules on the ground which allows you to start fabricating gear to open up more exploration options.

Okay, awesome. Thanks. I don't recall getting those instructions, but I probably missed it and then got soured on the game for not telling me more. I will give that a shot. I've heard nothing but great things about the game, so I look forward to it.

Cross-posting because reasons.

Finally finished Watch_Dogs: Legion. Took me seven months, but I’m celebrating with Julie here! IMAGE(https://emojipedia-us.s3.dualstack.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/thumbs/240/google/274/sparkling-heart_1f496.png)

Considering how long it took me to beat, it was decent. That whole save data loss put a damper on things (lost 6 hours of gameplay on Series X because of an autosave bug). I did enjoy the hacking and bits, but for me, even with all the crashes and bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 ate its lunch and dinner and kept me overnight and took me out to breakfast.

Another cross-post, sans apology.

After all the long games, etc, I wanted a palette cleanser.

Sayonara Wild Hearts gave that to me in spades. What a game. Just, amazed by the the entire experience. I don’t think I could recommend this game highly enough.

I had a tear running down my cheek by the end of the game. I won’t spoil anything, but those that know… know.

Spoilers for the ending:

Smooches! Motherforking smooches! The game ends with you smooching all the bosses as an act of forgiveness! I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but I did NOT expect THAT. IMAGE(https://emojipedia-us.s3.dualstack.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/thumbs/240/apple/285/kiss-mark_1f48b.png)

It never instructed you to grab fish, so everyone always:

- Intuitively knows to catch fish for food
- Lucks into a fish swimming in front of their face and sees the prompt to grab it (me)
- Looks it up online
- Or starves to death and gives up

Below Zero adds an instruction to grab fish so apparently they realized it was an oversight.

Magical Taruruto-kun (Genesis)

A basic, yet super colourful platformer that was only released in Japan based on some obscure manga that I doubt they even remember in Japan. No translation patch, so I had no idea what was going on in the plot although you do seem to rescue a lot of school girls. The gameplay was a little repetitive, but fun enough for an hour. The only noteworthy thing about this game is that it was developed by Game Freak back in the days before they became a Pokemon factory.

I completed Resident Evil Village, the first RE game I've played in many years. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It wasn't as scary as I feared, and I really enjoyed exporing areas, with the castle being the high point.

Small tall lady spoiler:

Spoiler:

Not enough tall lady.

I finished the Resident Evil 2 remake which is now a benchmark for me in how to update old games. It felt like the original whilst embracing all the things that have improved about games since and messing with the story beats enough so you still felt off kilter and well scared. I’ll definitely get to RE3 at some point after that.

I did manage to wrap up the Witcher 2 this weekend. We’ll, one path of the story. I had planned to dive right in to the other side, but, since Witcher 3 was on sale, I couldn’t resist going in and starting it.

Witcher 2 was good. Great, even. But wow, Witcher 3 feels incredible, and I’m still in the starting area.

Rolled credits (x3) on Returnal, completing all the main story beats. Great game in the Live Die Repeat roguelike genre.

I knocked out Resident Evil 3's remake. I didn't pay full price for this, but if I did, I could understand feeling short-changed. This was fun to knock out over a few days, but it certainly didn't have the value of multiple playthroughs and game time that the second remake did. With that said, it was still very fun, but an obvious rush job to get another game out after the success of 2.

Very late to the party on both. Crackdown 3 and Mario Odyssey. Crackdown 3 was a quick mindless bit of fun. A solid 6 of a game with lots of explosions. I can see why it was forgotten but I had fun.

Mario Odyssey was amazing and probable the best Mario game for me period. I broke out in smiles while playing it. Loved it.

If you liked Crackdown 3 and you havent played Saints Row 4, give it a shot!

I rarely finish games, but I just watched the credits roll on Cloudpunk. What a true delight. I loved spending time in the world of Nivalis, but I wasn't sure if there'd be more, so I just did it in little bits, but then the DLC came so I HAD to move forward. So good.

Really enjoyed Days Gone, only the hordes left but after 3 of them in story missions I don't think that they will keep me in the game. Parts of this were not put together very well and the main character was a pain but overall this was a very good game, well polished with a great story arc.

Decent game time as well, not sure of the exact time but steam has 90 hours so possibly 70, I tend to leave games running when I go out etc.

I SO agree with this comment, loved the first game but gave up on Below Zero when i hit this stage

I'm glad to read this. When I first found out about Cloudpunk, I made sure to closely follow its progress, almost entirely due to it's voxel art style. Then when it was released, I just never followed up on that for whatever reason. Must try to make an effort soon!

Huh? It is very important that he live for how things play out in ME3. If he survives Virmire he helps Shepard complete the mission and then goes off to do his own thing eventually ending up back on his home planet and becoming leader of his clan. If he dies his brother is the clan leader and his brother is a total asshat.

Just watched the ending to Rain on Your Parade. What a delightful romp that didn’t overstay it’s welcome, and continually changed up the formula. Actually laughed out loud at a late game achievement, too! IMAGE(https://emojipedia-us.s3.dualstack.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/thumbs/240/samsung/265/rolling-on-the-floor-laughing_1f923.png)
