Ooh. Don’t forget Bosom Buddies and that after school special that convinced conservative Christians that D&D is the devil.

Seriously. What the f*cl is wrong with people.

Not to be a dick about this...but why not?

When I was in college I worked in a mini-market from 7pm to 3am a couple nights per week. There was a counter where people could get their own coffee or soft drinks. The straws had wrappers, the sugars and cream little packaging. You could tell someone's socioeconomic status pretty easily based on who put their little bits of trash in the obvious trash bin built into the counter.

Rich kids literally left their trash on the rim of the trash bin. So...everything that that implies.

Or as my teenager likes to say, "Eat the rich."

We removed all the natural predators.

What animal did we drive extinct that ate dog poo?

LOL, I think maybe the implication is that they'd have eaten some of the more frustrating/stupid people.

I get really annoyed by the dog crap thing, because I just can't get over how there's such a direct line to you being a douchebag and creating a problem for someone else who steps in it later. And it takes so, so, so little effort.

I texted my neighbors/landlord asking if anyone knew what was up with my stepping in crap multiple times in the walkway/trashcan area, it's (seemingly) stopped. Could be a coincidence, of course.

I've definitely had surreal conversations where people litter or straight up *actively* create a mess to clean up because they have an expectation of it being someone else's job to take care of it. Like spilling stuff on purpose. It blows my mind, beyond even the people who are too lazy, self-absorbed, or self-centered to exert minimal effort in cleaning up after themselves.

This is kind of random, but I get incredibly annoyed/angry when someone else volunteers my time/energy/resources for something, especially publicly and when they don't ask me first.

I see this a lot in people who want the virtue signaling of volunteering for something, but are too lazy/self-centered to volunteer themselves. All the benefits of reposting on social media and tagging me without any of that pesky effort.

I volunteer and try to chip in my time/effort/money when I can. But my energy for it ebbs and flows a lot (especially in the past year, let's be honest). If I'm not stepping forward, I'm not in the mood right now. And now I have to deal with turning someone down and potentially disappointing them as if I'm the bad guy.

If people really cared, they'd give you the information in a non-judgmental (and ideally private) way. And I do have friends that will do that, just to let me know when an opportunity to help is available. But I've even had people who offered up my services without asking me argue with me about it, if I declined. Mostly when they think it'll make them look bad, because, you know, they already told someone I'd be happy to do it.

And there's the extra layer of people I know like that don't even see it that way, IMO because they're self-absorbed and not self-aware. Yet shockingly, they rarely seem to contribute themselves beyond reposting or telling someone you'd be happy to help (cue text from person I barely know or even don't know at all asking for something).

Being older and feeling much more comfortable saying no has gone a long way to dealing with people like that, but it still frustrates me. And when asking them to stop doesn't help, I increasingly just distance myself from them entirely.

I can’t stand it when apps on different platforms don’t maintain feature parity across versions. Microsoft is the biggest offender for me as I’m stuck in their ecosystem at work.

Why does Outlook Web have features that Outlook Desktop doesn’t?! Why does To Do web have categories but Desktop and iOS don’t?! Why does OneNote Web and Desktop look completely different?!

(I know why, it just gets me crazy sometimes when I go to do a thing I know I can do, but it’s not in the version of the app I’m currently using.)

I can't seem to make myself take games off of my wish list.

I mean when am I going to play:
Fable Anniversary
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Phoenix Point
Wasteland 3
Red Dead 2
Disco Elysium
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Horizon Zero Dawn
plus a pile indie games

I already have a few big games I want to beat:
Mass Effect legendary
Yakuza Like a Dragon
Dragon Age Inquision
Baldur's Gate 3 (when it is done)

I can always slide back into my rogue likes, tactics games, spectacle fighters, or warframe and lose another 100 hours.

Not to mention my backlog of other game and free games.

Brains are weird.

Haha. I feel that. I have such a backlog of games and then I just play a ton more Invisible, Inc. on Switch instead.

Fable is one of those games like the original Zelda or LttP or Super Metroid for me. I am basically down to play through it every couple of years. I tried playing through the trilogy a while back and burned out early on in 3.

I'm enjoying my foray into tabletop gaming but...uh, these stereotypes kinda hold true.

When I walked into the gaming room, I was hit with a wall of bad body odour. Not just near one person, but the entire room. I had to just get used to it, and get used to it I did...but if that's going to be a common occurance, I'm not sure how frequently I'll visit.

The other issue was, and I don't know how to word this, but the almost obnoxiously nerdy attitude. So much yelling and weird jokes, it made me feel pretty uncomfortable.

I do understand that these communities tend to foster outcasts, and I don't want to be judgemental. Yet despite my best efforts, it was really offputting. I had fun gaming with my new buddy, but the environment didn't make me feel good.

The third or fourth time I pass up a game on my wish list that's 75% off, I should probably get a clue that I'm never, ever going to buy it.

My cutoff is 60%, but yeah, I follow a similar pattern. I use IsThereAnyDeal.com which I check pretty often, but if I've seen something go deep a few times without buying it, I just remove it. At that point I know that I'm more interested in the thought of playing the game than I am actually interested in playing it.

Sorry you had to experience that! Any chance your area is large enough to have another group/venue you could try?

Not that things would necessarily be different. I tend to game with a specific group of friends rather than the community at large, myself.

But then it shows up free on Epic...

Yeah. Sort of along the same things ccoates said...

It’s cool that you made a new friend. Now you’re on your way to forming your own game night group. Maybe you could farm those public gatherings for other compatible gaming buddies, drag a few of your already established friends into the mix, and you’re off to the races.

In case nobody in your group has a home that’s conducive to gatherings of that size, there might be some public venues that regularly accommodate tabletop gaming. I once met some friends at a local cafe that was open late, but didn’t have much clientele in the evenings. We had a great time there playing games, and we certainly didn’t seem to bother the few patrons that came in for a quick coffee. For one of the International GWJ Days I checked with a popular pub and reserved a large seating area in the middle of the day when their traffic was slow. Only three Goodjers total showed up, so it wasn’t a strain on the staff, but honestly if 10 or 15 had shown up it would have been fine. (BTW, the Goodjers who did attend were lovely, and we had a wonderful time playing some games.)

I'm in this picture and I don't like it

So Monday I strained my back helping my father put up a tarp for some shade in the backyard. I've done pretty good not aggravating it all week, and it was feeling well and mending. Until today of course, when I pulled it again... putting some pants on.

Now I my back hurts again and I feel like a dumbass.

Takeaway: Pants are evil. Don't wear them.

I just realized Castaway bored the sh*t out of me. Maybe just Wilson cursing out Tom Hanks and telling him he should have died in the plane crash and saved us the trouble of the movie. Or maybe the FedEx plane should have crashed into the plane from The Terminal and saved me from 2 boring as hell movies.

Spent a few hours in my garage building a stand for my miter saw. My back hurts so much right now, even after a couple rounds of ibuprofen and sleep.

It's weird how you can overdo it but only tell that you overdid it afterwards. It's amazing how much even minor adrenaline can take over your system. There are numerous times where I am building something and only after I sit down for a while does my body inform me that I have a cut on my hand and that my muscles are exhausted.

My hamstrings were sore for a week after weeding for a couple hours one Sunday.

Ugh. I know. I played cornhole for 90 minutes and was sore for four days!

Broken rib? Probably a broken rib. Most of the time it's not that bothersome, but sneezing is excruciating.

I, um, broke a rib while playing Magic: The Gathering at PAX East some years back...
