What are you playing this weekend?

(Repeat for the next 90-110 gaming hours.)

If you're talking Mass Effect, it's actually "Shepard."

Gave in to the nostalgia and fired up the GOG version of Jagged Alliance 2. Still so, so good...

Days Gone

I'm already Day 2 of my five-day long weekend and I've barely done any gaming. I suppose that's fine considering the nice weather and I still need to set up my new propane grill.

When I get sick of chores or drinking then I'll put some more time into Mass Effect Legendary Edition. I may also try hopping back into Outriders and Elder Scrolls Online. These are all very time-consuming games so I may need to pick my battle here.

I've dove pretty hard into Elder Scrolls Online of late.

I just killed my space girlfriend’s mom. So I will keep going and see how that shakes out

The only game I'm playing right now if Xenogears (*cough*RetroPie*cough*), but with the fan translation of The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure releasing tomorrow, I might go ahead and get started.

Definitely more Final Fantasy XIV. Vaccine shot #2 is Saturday, so anything else I play will mostly depend on how I'm feeling after that.

I intend to continue trucking along in Dragon Quest XI S on my Switch, while possible taking a quick detour for Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and, having caved into the new hotness, some Giant Vampire Lady crush-having simulator otherwise known as Resident Evil VIIIage.

Still playing Resident Evil 8. Likely near the end. So far still really enjoying it but its becoming more of a shooter near the end here.

I'm trying not to buy any more games since I have so many to play but caved and bought Days Gone. Sounded like it ran fine on older computer setups (and confirmed it does) and I had been curious about it. GMG had 17% off so pushed me enough to buy. Will put some more time in to it when finish RE8.

I'm getting tempted to use the $10 Epic coupon on the first Kingdom Hearts collection. I had the originaly game on the PS2 and recall bouncing off of it pretty quick. But interested in giving it another shot. Ultimately I know if I get it the same thing will likely happen. So resisting temptation right now to purchase.

Well, I started my Yakuza 6 replay, so I'll be playing the deadliest catch minigame while being the Dadliest Catch.

Breaking rocks and running (swimming) away from fish in Subnautica Below Zero.

I'm replaying Knights in the Nightmare on DS.

Such a unique (and bewildering) title.

The game demands that you look at the top screen while touching the bottom screen and I've always been kinda amazed at how natural it feels.

Anno 1800

drums!

Maybe some Satisfactory with my brother tomorrow morning, and other than that I just clicked install on The Witcher 3 for some reason. I always told myself I'd replay it after I built a modern computer (I first played in on a 2013 iMac, which performed surprisingly well). I built my current computer back in late 2018 but have never actually reinstalled TW3, so maybe now is the time.

Just picked up Death Stranding on Epic so I’m going to give that a try this weekend. Likely plenty of Rocket League will be played as well.

I've downloaded Witcher 3 and going to try and get into it for the third time, maybe even fourth. I've bounced after a few hours previously, on paper I should love it, not sure what I'm missing.

Also West of Loathing, played a bit in the week and seems like good fun.

Wonderful 101. I probably be done with the game if not for some odd design choices that left me spinning my wheels for long periods.

I'm giving Stellaris a shake again while Elite: Dangerous is figuring itself out. Maybe I'll keep at it for more than a couple hours this time.

Just like last weekend: Civ 6, hoping to inch closer to a finish, and The Alliance Alive. Also replaying Celeste. Life's been feeling stressful and summiting that mountain was such a feeling of achievement; I'm going back to chase that memory.

My hopes are to finish up the part 1 side quests in Nier Replicant (PS4) so I can get to part 2 but that might be asking too much. I'm only at 36% for quest completion so I'm not sure how many hours that remaining 14% translates to.

Then I'll be continuing through world 22 in Ring Fit Adventure (Switch). 2 or 3 more sessions and I'll probably be on to the final world.

Finally, I want to get through a couple more chapters in Black Mesa (PC). I want to beat it so I can start Half Life: Alyx but that last fight in the lobby really tested my resolve. I don't know if I have the fps skills to finish the rest of the game.

Same as last weekend except I'm starting part 2 in Nier Replicant. Throwing in a bit of Yakuza 0 as well.

I think it's a Disco Elysium sort of weekend, since I feel like I'm getting closer to the ending. And if I finish it, it's time to start Trails to Azure with the brand new fan patch.

I've just bought Art of Rally over on the Epic Store using my £10 off voucher, with that and the sale discount it was a bargain at £4.99! Only played 30min so far but I'm liking it a lot. So, Ill be playing more of this over the weekend.

Keeping with the driving games I might play some Wreckfest.

I've also started The Wolf Among Us so perhaps a bit of that to finish an evening off.

^ this is my experience with it as well. I’m not sure why.

More CONTROL despite getting lost frequently I’ve really warmed to the games quirky supernatural stuff. It’s a hard thing to get right but I’m enjoying all the weirdness that is going on with the exception of a certain hotel you visit. The puzzles there often have me stumped for way too long and pulling the light cord over and over gets annoying. Also Enter the Gungeon I have no expectations of getting very far in this bullet hell rogue-like but it’s fun trying.

I actually got myself to play two rounds of Firestorm the Battlefield Battle Royale. The map is gorgeous and the Battlefield weapons make me feel more comfortable than in other such games. I got to the last ten with my second go. Hopefully I can stick with this one for a little while.

Thirded - I've started it at least 4 times, and never made it past the first 2 hours. I've got hundreds of hours in similar games, yet this one never grabs me at all. I sometimes wonder whether it's because I feel that in other games I'm shaping the character as I go along (like in the Dragon's Age games), whereas I just get the impression with Geralt that he's already too defined...plus I don't really have any interest in him as a character.

IIRC, everything in that hotel is done in sets of 3.

Yeah, Geralt is already defined, and while you can make decisions at the margins, it's not really a creating a character like you would in other RPGs. That said, I loved Geralt, if for no other reason than he's much funnier than you'd expect from standard-gravely-voiced-male-character-in-a-video-game.

Also, 2 hours isn't nearly enough. You're still in White Orchard at that point. Next time, at least get to Velen and see whether the game opening up changes things at all.

This weekend I'm continuing to alternate between The Evil Within and New Pokemon Snap, despite being polar opposites. They both continue to surprise me too.

I'm at a particular chapter in The Evil Within that's so much like the original Resident Evil that it can't be mere coincidence. I mean with Shinji Mikami as the director, of course it's not a coincidence, but it's very obvious what they're doing here. And I love it.

I'm kind of disappointed in myself that it took so long for me to get into this game. Sure, it's got its flaws, but it balances horror and action really well, maybe even a better balance than Resident Evil 4? I mean, although I'd still say Resident Evil 4 is the better game, by the time it leaves the village, the balance is lost - it's well and truly an action game with occasional horror elements. All that aside, if there's one thing I'm looking forward to more than finishing this game, it's starting The Evil Within 2.

I also picked up Wargroove and Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes on the Switch. Physical editions! There was a 2 for $30aud deal, so I jumped on it. I probably would have paid that much just for Travis Strikes Again, so getting Wargroove basically for free was pretty awesome. I already have it on Steam, but this one is obviously a physical edition, something I can play hand-held, and comes with a bunch of little goodies. I'm also surprised at how much I'm enjoying Travis Strikes Again.

Anyway, as usual - too many games, too little time.

I should be getting Samurai to 80 in Final Fantasy XIV, then I'll start leveling Dark Knight. There's still the matter of grinding out the last Resistance Weapon step for my Red Mage, but we'll see if I feel inclined to do so. With the long weekend I'm also hoping to make more progress in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Decided to complete the Bio Shock trilogy with it being on sale. Playing through Bio Shock 2 as I skipped that one way back in the day.
