Huh? Did we totally forget about this?
Well, I know I did until like a week into the season. They are currently playing, just FYI.
Also, Albert. Honey. Sweetie-Pie. Schnoockums.
The Angels surprisingly announced the move to designate Pujols for assignment one day after he wasn’t in the lineup for the slumping club’s fourth consecutive loss. The decision was made after Pujols, dissatisfied with irregular playing time, had a late-night meeting with general manager Perry Minasian and team president John Carpino.Pujols, who is batting .198 this season, is determined to play first base regularly for another team after he clears waivers, Angels manager Joe Maddon said. Pujols is fifth in major league history with 667 career homers and 13th with 3,253 hits.
“He wants to play, and he wants to be in the field,” Maddon said. “Hopefully he’s going to get that opportunity somewhere else, and believe me, we’re all going to be rooting for him.”
Dude, I got my car the deluxe detailing and yadda-yadda-etc. treatment today and it's less washed than you are.
By my calculation batting .193 this season puts him top 10 or 15 at batting average. What's the issue?
kekeke
John Means throwing a no no for the Orioles was pretty awesome. Really, the guy threw a perfect game, but such is life.
I think what shocked me the most about the article is that he has been in LA for 10 years?! Only 1 year less than he was a Cardinal yet I still associate him only with St. Louis.
He...wasn't good as an Angel.
Watching every Blue Jays game. They are a bunch of fun. Really wish they, like every team this season, could get healthy. Vladdy and Grichuk have unlocked their potential.
The realization that I’m just a bit older than the oldest active player has made me feel a lot older. I might finally have to give up on the possibility of a baseball career.

Yes, I'm totally not paying attention to the standings in the NL West. Nope.

Bartolo made it to 45! There's still hope!
Hmm, he hit his first home run at my age. Back to the cages I go!

Jamie Moyer was 49 (turned 50 after the 2012 season) when he finally hung up the cleats!
Maybe La Russa should go for a drive and have a drink to calm down.
Y'know, it really speaks to how far off baseball has fallen in the cultural consciousness, that Ohtani, who is literally doing Ruthian sh*t no-one's done in 100 years, and he's an after-afterthought in sports and pop culture.
I follow baseball closely and I didn't even realize he leads everyone in homeruns and it's not that close.
I mean, it's good for the Angels' ownership that no-one cares about baseball, because they should be getting annihilated daily.
They have Ohtani and a man who is generally regarded as a generational talent on the level of Mantle and Mays, and since Trout came into the league, he's had 4 winning seasons, and none since 2015.
They even have Rendon, a massively underrated superstar that they pried from a World Series winner, and Jared Walsh is hitting like a madman. They are seemingly completely incapable of getting any pitching whatsoever. The Blue Jays have been terrible at getting pitching going and still opened the pocket books to get Ryu and have cobbled together a superior rotation and bullpen over the same timespan as Trout entering the league.
Kluuuu

This too, since we're halfway through May and we have six no-hitters.
I think they've been devalued as much as the triple-double has been in the NBA. Lotsa dudes out there aiming to go .240 with 40 HRs and 180 Ks.
And the shift doesn't help everyone else.
I bet YouTube was really happy they picked the Giants-Reds blowout as their streaming only game.
I usually don't tune in until NBA playoffs are done and they are a month late this year. Catching a few highlights of Louisville players but not much else.
Like, genuinely, human arms are not supposed to do that.
That's not an exaggeration, even a human arm capable of doing that broadly cannot do it for extended periods of time.
In his 30s as a starter is just nuts. Not like he's coming out a couple times a week to throw 10 pitches for a save.
Sometimes I think it's more of "is this how the colored folks do it?"
Not a jab at LaRussa specifically, but more to his generation.
