Please, someone say something snide about the Jaguars.

It's a good offseason to wait and watch the Pack do silly things.

They picked BORTLES over Swag. Bortles!

It's your team's turn to be the embarrassment of the 1995 expansion class.

Hey, the Jags have gone from installing shitty quarterbacks as QB1 now to installing them as TE3. I can live with that.

Sure Tebow, have a blast running down those kick coverage reps alongside a bunch of UDFAs. Go nuts dude.

Well, they only had two QBs on the roster. If Rodgers does go, they'll be back down to 2 and still need to add someone.

So don't give up hope for a Love, Bortles, $wag QB room in Green Bay just yet. If anything, signing Bortles signals the team wanting to get a veteran in their QB room, which is something you might do if you don't think your 16-year veteran starter is going to stick around.

The Panthers might go 5-12 this season, but their social media team is the GOAT.

Watched the latest episode of Building the Browns. We got to see what the office wall behind Paul DePodesta looks like when he's on a Zoom call. And, well...

If you ever wondered if I was going to stop calling him Baseball Paul, the answer is right there.

Honest question, has your opinion about him changed after seeing how the Browns have turned it around by making very smart decision?

Not really. Basically the success has coincided with his seeming reduced involvement, along with a couple good hiring decisions.

With Sashi Brown, Paul was a de facto co-GM, and was considered above Sashi in the org chart. Since then, his influence has waned into what appears like a less involved role, and while his title remains the same, the position somewhere along the way seems to have been subtly reorganized beneath the GM/EVP of football ops. (There's some fuzziness there, but neither his profile nor his influence seem to equate to what they were in 2016. I think going 1-31 those first 2 years took some shine off.)

He obviously was a driving force in the selection of both head coach Stefanski and GM Berry, two moves which are a credit to him. But the best move he has made has been staying out of the way of those two, letting them run the team while he returns home to San Diego.

Better question, will he get that racist shit off his wall when the city of Cleveland gets that racist shit out of their baseball team?

Edit: And I am glad I spoke that Rogers for Baker (OBJ and a second) into existence.

Ouch. The Ravens have a suicidally difficult schedule. If they can get 11 wins out of that, I will be very happy.

Saw a thread on Reddit where Pete Prisco was on the Bold Take podcast, which I guess is a Jaguars-themed podcast. When asked what Minshew's future was, Prisco's response? "Working at a deli somewhere?"

Starting to think Pete Prisco did not buy into Minshew Mania.

A lot of other Hall of Fame athlete's open restaurants when they're done playing so I wouldn't be surprised if Minshew does too.

Minshew's House of Cashews.

Rodgers for Minshew?

Jags can just trade Lawrence to someone else in a 3 teamer to balance it all out.

Prisco also thought Bortles was good, insisted the Jags needed to pick up his option, and that the Jags were going to chase 16-0 in 2018 with a newly extended Bortles.

So, you know, I wouldn't worry too much about his QB assessments if I were Minshew.

I think the funniest thing about this trade if you assume OBJ isn't broken in any way is that the Packers finally get an upgrade at WR.... and Rodgers isn't on the roster for it.

Kind of like how the Cardinals started acquiring linemen right after they neglected and then dumped Josh Rosen.

Or how the Dolphins spent 3 picks in the first 4 rounds on offensive linemen the next draft after they neglected and then dumped... Josh Rosen.

Please do not jinx the 49ers linemen any more. I may not be as big a fan as some of yall here, but I still root for them more often than not.

Also, I think the Tebow signing is good, non-sarcastically. The Mets used him for years to sell merchandise and drum up interest in their other minor leaguers, because they're not even the best known baseball team in town. The jags may be big in london, but unless he's actually taking snaps in week 1, I think any press is good press at the cost of one of 37 fringe roster spots.

I will throw the Browns into that trade. As long as we get one of those QB's and give up, well... you know.

Zach Wilson's mom is named Lisa, but apparently it should be Karen.

Jags having no veteran tryout players at rookie camp, which means no Tebow tryout.

Not clear yet if this signals a pulling off the plug on the Tebow idea or not, but it doesn't look particularly good for the single wing offense.

The tryout happened when Tebow and Meyer were playing touch football in their neighborhood after doing keg stands.

I see him as more of a veer guy.

You joke, but if the team does just sign him without having him go through the vet tryout process, then it really would be Urban Meyer unilaterally signing his neighbor, basically sight unseen. There'd be no deniability left.

Speaking of vet tryouts, because the Niners/Jags pipeline runs eternal, Marqise Lee was at 49ers rookie camp for his vet tryout.

Well, if the Niners were able to make Jason Verrett a successful injury reclamation project, Lee's knee and hammies might stand a chance.

That said, I don't expect a whole lot from Etienne in pass protection. When he's on the field in passing downs, it's going to be as a receiver, either out of the backfield or in the slot.

Well mark this one in the "called it" column. Etienne's rookie camp work so far hasn't even been at running back, but rather at wide receiver.

I compared him to Bush and Kamara, but maybe the plan is more like Percy Harvin. Which works for me. The more of a WR he is, the better the value of that draft pick.

And with that number, now he can be eligible at either position.

The draft is done. Time for a preseason thread.
