NFL 2021: Draft

The Jaguars are getting ready to sign Tim Tebow at TE. Great news for everyone, but it's a real shame the Jaguars don't play the Saints this year so Timmy and Taysom Hill could get to know each other.

Tebow is the one with the veteran minimum contract.

So, basically doesn't even apply to the cap.

I think he has enough vested years from his QB days that his vet minimum deal would make it into the Jags' Top 51, but just barely.

You could almost build an entire 11 man offense of Tebows for the cost of one Taysom Hill.

Over/under snaps Tebow plays at QB this season? 2.5? 7.5? 50?

Lawrence / Minshew / Tebow single wing backfield

Packers bringing in $wag Kelly for a tryout. Watch your back, Jordan Love.

The Tebows (an all-Tebow team, with Tebows at every position) vs The Taysoms.

Who ya got?

And before you say The Taysoms because he (they?) are younger, Tebow's only three years older (33 vs 30).

Tebow also took 6 year break and should have a lot less football miles on his body.

Good point; Taysom's butt is probably all chapped from all that bench-sitting.

Is Breaking Madden still a thing? Because this sounds like a Breaking Madden thing.

Jon Bois is on Twitter. Maybe he'd come out of retirement for this.

So you don’t even need a show for Breaking Madden, because Madden Breaks itself. With Madden 21 on GamePass I started the task of bringing the 49ers to glory by pairing them with Justin Fields and dumping Jimmy G. (Sounds pretty awesome right? It gets weird in a hurry)
- To make Fields, I force a Watson for Jimmy G trade and lower all Watson’s stats thus once again pulling one over the Texans while simultaneously removing a predator from the game, great!
- Season plays out pretty normally actually, Niners go undefeated,
- Fields wins MVP (8,942 yards and 79 TD’s)
- Deebo breaks LT’s touchdown record with 36TD’s
- Kinlaw wins DPOY with 29 sacks as both Armstead and Bosa missed 7 games
- Mostert was on pace for a 5,000 yard season before tweaking a hammy, Coleman came in for a few and racked up 1,000 yards before he also got bitten by the turf and then McKinnon finished second in the league with 1,400 yards in 6 games before he got hurt and I had to sign Frank Gore off the street for the playoff run
- Playoff teams are fairly standard, Saints finished second, AFC was Chiefs, Ravens, Browns

MADDEN GAME IMMERSION BREAKS

- the Cleveland Browns take out the Patriots, Ravens, AND Chiefs on their way to be the AFC Super Bowl representative!?!?!?!?

MADDEN GAME IMMERSION REINITIATES

- Baker throws 4INT’s in the Super Bowl, Richard Sherman returns 2 to the house, OBJ has 5 drops
- Off-season time!!!!!!!
- Colts sign all the old guys: AJ Green is their new star Wideout
- Kap signs with New England to start over Cam
- THE JETS SIGN AARON JONES TO A RECORD RB DEAL WHILE STILL HAVING LEVEON BELL ON THE TEAM!?!?!?!?!?
- Jaguars have first pick in the draft and take.......... Christian Barmore 1st overall
AND Trevor Lawrence at 12 after a trade up

So yeah, Madden is still hella strange.

The most shocking thing in that story is that OBJ was healthy enough to play in the Superb Owl

Do Madden CPU franchises bite on the Baker, OBJ, and a 2nd trade offer?

Depends, can I get a QB from that powerhouse in North Dakota? Or do I get the one that is playing TE?

So the NFL's 2021 schedule is out -- sort of.

Looks like Week 1, T-giving Day and the London games have been announced. The rest will come out at 8p tonight.

If you didn't think the NFL schedule makers had a sense of humor, the Panthers' Week 1 opponent is ...

.. the Jets.

Also: Seahawks, Chargers, Niners and Cards all play Eastern/Central time zone games, and the Jags open the season with an exhibition game against the Texans. Guess the league wants the Jags to win finally, huh.

Is Urban Meyer in over his head? His decision making seems pretty suspect. I can very easily see his losing the Jags locker room by week 5.

Yes. Rodgers for that deal was a slam dunk.

You underestimate the Jags' tolerance for bad coaching.

The stat that Panthers fans remember from the 2020 season: Carolina was 0-and-8 in one-score games. And that's why Teddy Bridgewater is an ex-Panther -- he's tough but not clutch and couldn't win the close ones.

Here's what ex-Panther Teddy B had to say in an interview about his time in Charlotte (emphasis mine):

"With the whole deal in Carolina, it is what it is, man. I told them once the season ended, 'I wear big boy drawers, and I understand the nature of this business.' And it's a performance-based business. Yeah, I could sit up here and say Christian (McCaffrey) got hurt and we didn't have this ... (but) I look in the mirror and say, 'Hey, you gotta tighten up.' ...

"As an organization, there's things you can do better as well. I'll just say this, for (offensive coordinator Joe) Brady's growth, that organization, they'll have to practice things in different ways. One of the things we didn't do much of when I was there, we didn't practice two-minute (situations), really. We didn't practice red zone ... (But) I'm appreciative of the opportunity and I just keep it moving."

Wow.

So . . . exactly what was the offense practicing, if they didn't bother with red zone or two-minute drills? Just straight offense ever day?

Moving the ball from the 20 to 20 and losing 1 score games apparently.

Teddy B + a boat load of picks for Rodgers! I think that's my favorite option.

1. Broncos trade Teddy B to Cleveland for Baker Mayfield.
2. Teddy B, OBJ, and a second for Rodgers.

I see what you did there!

I think the funniest thing about this trade if you assume OBJ isn't broken in any way is that the Packers finally get an upgrade at WR.... and Rodgers isn't on the roster for it.

Kind of like how the Cardinals started acquiring linemen right after they neglected and then dumped Josh Rosen.

Or how the Dolphins spent 3 picks in the first 4 rounds on offensive linemen the next draft after they neglected and then dumped... Josh Rosen.

PFT has more from Teddy B from the same interview:

"You walk through the red zone stuff and then Saturday you come out and practice red zone, but you’d only get like 15 live reps. Guys’ reps would be limited.”

That's the difference between someone who has been around the NFL a while (Bridgewater) and someone who hasn't (the Panthers' coaches).

I'd like to think Rhule & Co learned something from 2020 but they traded for Sam Darnold so maybe not.

I hate to be one of those fans who piles on his team but that's kinda where I am at the moment.

Please, someone say something snide about the Jaguars.

"Joke's on you, Teddy! With Darnold, we're not even gonna get to the red zone."

It's your team's turn to be the embarrassment of the 1995 expansion class.
