After lighthouses we're doing text games?

This is a rather obscure one. I found it out through googling the text.

Now if you'd picked the 3rd place winner from 2003, I would have got it immediately!

I'm going to weather all this negativity because this game was incredibly well-received and I think some people here know it.

The lurking horror?
Edit: i take that back ... no idea!

Could be. The last year I judged was 2004.

Okay you whining bunch of whiners, that last game was called "Violet". It's short, heartfelt, on the short list of all-time best text adventures, playable online, and I apologize profusely for posting it.

Free play!

What's that? Free play you say? Don't mind if I doooooo!

Arcadia?

I've got nothing. I've never played a text based adventure.

I was wracking my brain trying to figure out which Infocom game had a post apocalyptic dystopian setting.

Is it Violet?

It's not an Infocom game and it's not Violet.

A Mind Forever Voyaging is very dystopian later in the game. Trinity I think had post-apoc dystopian parts? Been a long time since I played that one.

No idea about this Arcadia business, but I lost a narratively appropriate amount of productive time this afternoon to Violet. So frustrating, so satisfying. It was lovely. Thanks.

Glad to hear it!

For the current game, I feel like a couple folks may know it but be choosing not to pick it up, in which case we might be here a little while.

Legend of Grimrock, 2 I think. Man, that game was both great and awful. Both of them. The music was all good though.

Okay, I'll pull the trigger.

The game is Scavenger, written by a very famous & brilliant developer.

I had no idea the devil wrote IF!?!

But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game.

This is actually from the first one but I'll give it to you.

And both of them were just plain great!

Is that your final answer? It should be. Yes!

Hillsfar is a game I wanted for the NES, but never got. That city map seemed so full of promise.

"Bug Mars" gave it away. That there's Frog Fractions.

Edit: Above is a sentence I never expected to type.

Merphle is absolutely correct!

...is a sentence I never expected to type either. J/k
