Outriders - Catch All

I had been having horrific RNG luck with Legendary drops from expeditions. Ran about 5 gold CT14’s with zero gear improvements and no legendary drops. Swapped out my Techno chest piece to the legendary one that procs massive explosions on ice kills and WOW does that ever help. Trash mobs now get deleted en-mass and popping it next to a captain instantly knocks 1/3 of their health off. Also had a luck reversion and got three légendaires in two runs (none of them useful but it’s at least better than zero)

A streamer I follow has been trying to get a particular helmet the entire time he's been playing, and hasn't seen it. There's even a couple of class perk selections that make it worse by skewing the drop rate in favor of a particular type of weapon, when most people need only one good weapon drop and five good armor drops. There's also weapon mods like Moaning Winds, Fortress, and a few others that are far more powerful than your own abilities, even after buffing anomaly power to the gills and boosting with mods, and these drops appear to be even rarer than normal.

Update: got 3 legendaries off a failed Boom Town CT14 run (got silver because so many enemies just hide on the map). 7.5% legendary chance on three rewards, really maxed the return there!

They tuned that Boom Town gold time waaaaaaaaaay too far down, I’m clearing every other CT14 and now CT15 2-4 minutes below gold time but am consistently 15+ seconds over the Boom Town gold. Heck I clear Stargrave in almost sub-6 minute time making it more efficient than Boom Town!

Uggh I must suck or not have very good gear. I can't get past CT 9 expeditions. I have CT10 unlocked but die every single time.

What class/skill tree/and mods are you using?

I've been advancing much slower than everyone on here but have been constantly tweaking my playstyle. I'm only on CT 7 and have been rerunning collector quests to climb the world tier ladder.

I am world tier 13, level 30. I am a Devastator and using the Anomoly Tree. I use Golem, Gravity Leap and that Pillar skill. I use the defensive mod that gives a shield when I hit 30% health and the one that causes an explosion when I use a skill. Have a mod that boosts melee. My gear is a hodge podge but I have been trying to prioritize getting Anomoly power, close range damage and cooldown reduction when possible.

I think they actually boosted the time for gold on Boom Town and lowered it for Chem Plant.

You could get gold on Chem Plant without doing the elevator trick before. Unless you're able to one shot everything you have to use the elevator now.

This mod (Untamed Power) is amazing for anomaly builds, especially melee builds. We mentioned it earlier.

Some other high end mods that I would recommend (bolded ones for Devastator):

Captain Hunter: Do 25% damage to elites
Power Assimilation: Boost your anomaly power for each elite on the field
Mitigation from Death: Kills while ADS gives x amount of armor
Bloodlust: Killing shots increase firepower by X stacks 3 times
Killing Spree: Give weapon a 25% damage boost for each kill up to 3 times
Damage Absorber: Increase Armor by X and 10% resistance
Fortress: Receive up to 43% damage boost based on your Armor

When you get stuck the best thing to do is just drop down 2-3 CTs so you're able to get gold. Work on getting 3 pieces of a class set.

I REALLY wish they would hurry up and implement a way to save loadouts. I've lost a bunch of good pieces while farming by accidently scrapping or selling things I wanted to keep.

Some quick recommendations:

Close range damage does nothing for you if you're a melee build - it only applies to guns. Use Skill Leech instead to get health from your skill and melee attacks.

Keep Untamed Power but drop the shield mod for something that does damage - with Skill Leech your Impale should be more than enough to keep you alive in the scrum and will certainly provide more defense than the occasional shield.

For Devastator AP builds I would argue that you need at least one skill that can hit a lot of targets - either EQ or Boulderdash. I prefer EQ set up for the Triple Ripple (the two +1 attack mods, +damage, and +range) but a lot of people like the bleed builds as well. Gravity Leap can fill this role but its attack radius is very small - you need to herd the mobs to make it effective.

For a melee build your gun is almost vestigial, but there are mods that allow you to do AoE skill damage on reload, shots, first shots, etc - use weapons with those and you can throw out some extra damage while your melee attack and skills are on cooldown. Moaning Winds is the king here, but many of the lesser mods are quite effective - swap weapons to work around cooldowns.

Finally, Fortress is a key weapon mod for Devastator because you get the full benefit due to your high armor and it boosts everything you do. Unfortunately it's rare - I didn't get mine until I was pushing CT14, and it got me over the top and on to CT15.

Is it just me or does the combat music at times remind you of the Flash Gordon theme?

Thanks everyone for the tips, sadly I haven't seen Captain Hunter, Power Assimilation, Mitigation from Death, Damage Absorber or Fortress yet. I will look at swapping out Endless Mass for either Boulderdash or Earthquake and see how it goes.

Devastator, Earthquake-Boulderdash-Tremor. My armor is all Anomaly Power / Cooldown Reduction / Skill Leech.

Helmet - Primal Knuckleduster and Earth's Legacy (BD +100k damage per hit and EQ +60% range)
Chest - Extra Quake and Brawl (the T1 +1 EQ attack mod and +100% melee damage)
Pants - Human Fortress and Second Quake (Tremor + regen and armor mod, T3 +1 EQ attack mod)
Gloves - Ground Crush and Untamed Power (T1 EQ +damage mod and aoe blast on skill/melee use)
Boots - Power Assimilation and Martial Arts (T3 10k AP boost per Elite, -50% cooldown on melee)

For weapons I use Damascus with Claymore Torrent and Fortress, Roaring Umbra with Kinetic Stomp and Fortress, and some generic auto pistols with Clip Combustion and Fortress.

I'm currently working towards replacing Tremor with Golem. Defensively it's a loss as I already have ~75% damage mitigation from armor and I'll lose some healing, but I really want to tack on the 45% AP boost for better Earthquake and melee damage (which should make up some of the healing ... some of the time). I could also be talked into replacing Boulderdash with Gravity Leap as my escape skill. The main obstacle is getting specific armor parts with good armor rolls (11k+ at level 50), the right stats (AP/CR/SL), *and* one of the two mods I need for that part so I can swap in something else.

Finally made it to world tier 15 last night and finished off all of the first set of expeditions. Only on CT8 and still really enjoying climbing the ladder.

I thought the latest patch was supposed to make it where you're not juggled around by the mobs so much. I feel like it's worse. Some maps i get bounced around and stuck on geometry.

I think they only “fixed” the Stargrave expedition where 4-5 crawlers spawned at once and could effectively perma-freeze you in place even if you dodged.

I haven’t tried it yet but apparently the last patch made the game much harder in expeditions. That’s not good if true

That would explain a lot of the struggles I've been having since the patch.

The only thing I've noticed is that Stargrave is easier - you don't get perma-staggered in the big area as much.

They fixed the defensive buff that was bugged so it's not up 100% of the time. I'm sure there's other changes. I am having a harder time keeping blighted rounds up on my Techno. So there may be something there, but defense wise i've always been glass cannony except for my punching devastator. He's the one who gets bounced around like a pinball and sometimes stuck in geometry and can't do anything.

Wow that’s not good. I have a technomancer using blighted rounds as my bread and butter as well as a melee trickster.

Or it is good ? Given that everyone seems to play that build.

My argument is that instead of making builds less fun they need to increase how fun other builds are.

I should clarify. I primarily play in groups. So keeping rounds up is almost impossible unless you have a gun that's in the 90k dps range. My highest tac rifle is only 83.6. So solo I can gold pretty much all the time. In that regard the techno is glorious, but in group play without a debuff pyro it's just a pain in the ass. So other builds are more fun to play in groups. I actually have a munitions AP build for my techno now that is a blast in group play but is almost impossible to gold solo because he moves so slow with the mini gun active.

Some things that are starting to wear on me..

-During expeditions, the timer continues, even through un-skippable cut scenes. Also, some maps have the obelisk and if you clear it out early, the next spawn takes longer if you clear the previous spawn mobs fast.

-Items in the inventory has checks indicating a new item even if it is not a new item in the inventory.

-Knocked into the environment

-Crawlers

-The game still runs after quitting out. Been like that since the demo. I have to End task the exe...

EDITED

This explains a lot as to why I am getting 1 shotted now..

Restoration finally happened. Guy was only CT10, but everything brought back is at max stats

It's like it counted every single time I got a legendary and gave me an updated max level version of it spread across all my different characters.

Almost 2 weeks and still unable to play my 2 level 30's due to the one hit = kill bug. Shelving this for awhile, what a shame.

I still have yet to complete the campaign with a single toon lol. But casual browsing of Reddit leads me to believe the (hardcore) player base has fallen out of the honeymoon phase hard with Outriders.
