Video Game Deals Catch-All

So, um. Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is free on Epic this week. I mean, it's free everywhere, but it's especially free on Epic.

Looks like it's got a pack of $100 worth of stuff in game

The startup message made me smile.
Paraphrased: Hey! You're on Epic. Cool. Here's a bunch of heroes, familiars, and a bucket load of chests for you. You probably don't know what any of this means yet, but we hope you have fun!

But will it connect to my steam profile? I am not starting over in epic.

Can't imagine there isn't a way to export/import a profile... but while trying to figure out how to claim a chest code handed out during a stream that was hyped in the game I found this list that shows currently active claimable codes for extra chests.

Google says currently you can't connect an epic and steam account. Oh well.

Yeah I've never played it so maybe Epic is a good place to start. It's one thing not to have cross play on PC PlayStation Xbox Switch but to not have it based on different pc store is just pathetic.

Huh, an idle game without an export feature. That sucks!

Oh! I know this game super well, and can answer any questions about it.

I wouldn't particularly recommend it. The main thing that it has going for it is, it's an official D&D sponsored IP thing, so the characters and campaigns and stuff that appear in the game will be familiar to fans (Drizzt, characters from popular D&D streams, etc). As an idle game it's pretty hit-and-miss, but I guess not hugely worse than average.

It's a frequent request, but apparently the platforms don't allow it. (besides steam and epic it's on ios, android, playstation, armor games, a couple of web portals, etc.)

Tonight We Riot is free on GOG for the next 24 hours or so. The deal is on their homepage not the game page.

Wow Atlus golden week sale on 3DS. If there's anything you missed it's $10-20 this week. Persona Q series, SMT IV games, Etrian Odyssey series, both Devil Survivor games, Radiant Historia etc. Hundreds of hours of RPG fun.

I logged on to get Radiant Historia, as I had just heard about that one last time it was on sale. But I never did get Persona Q2 or SMT IV:A so might grab those too.

Devil Survivor 1 and both SMT4s! DS2 thumbs down.

Weekly Xbox sales hit.
Any opinions on:
Thronebreaker: A Witcher’s Tale. I love card games but less so when the battles are puzzle solving.
Either Star Wars the Force Unleashed games?

Thanks,
Chad

First force unleashed was good the near 10 years ago it came out. Now maybe less? The 2nd was trash and that's coming from someone who desperately tried to enjoy it. I never finished it. Never will.

There's a reason fans refer to them at SW:FU

Terrible games. Still can't believe a sequel was made.

The first Force Unleashed is ok. It can get infuriating at times because of its combat gameplay.
Didn't play the second.

I kind of liked the first. Compared to games of the time, it looked really good (excluding the Wii version), had good controls (excluding the Wii version), an interesting story, and a really good amount of customization. And rag-dolling storm troopers and destroying them with the force is quite satisfying. The absolute biggest problem with this game is that Fallen Jedi exists, and is so much better overall.

No argument on the second one though. I believe I finished it, but it took a lot of determination. It felt like it was rushed out the door as a quick cash grab.

Force Unleashed would have been a great Girlfriend Reviews game, because lots of cool things are happening but you're so busy staring at the screen for QTE prompts you never see them. I was vaguely aware my character was doing amazing stuff but I literally barely remember it because I had to see whether my next stupid button press was "X" or "Y".

If you like QTEs, great choice. Also, there is something wrong with you if you like QTEs enough to enjoy that game.

Force unleashed also had weird enemy difficulty ramp up at times. You'd destroy everything and then suddenly some bot throws boxes from across the map into your head that takes forever to destroy. It also suffered from poor save points. You'd start from a checkpoint a few minutes before your fight or before the cutscene....to watch over, and over, and over etc.
