NFL 2021: Draft

Washington go JOK or one of the VPIs?

2002 was a long time ago. Still not sure why gruden is trusted to do football things in 2021.

Last year Miami picked Tagovailoa and Igbinoghene... this year Jaylen and Jaelen. Dolphin draft strategy all about names.

Or that.

Dammit, stop drafting LBs that the Ravens need.

BUCS FAN HAWT TAKE: Gruden gets credit for the Super Bowl win he doesn't vaguely deserve; the Bucs offense in 2002 was about as good as it was in 2001, and the real difference is the 2001 defense was good, and 2002 was one of the all-time great defenses. Per PFR, the 2001 offense was 15th in points and 26th in yards. 2002, with Gruden, they were 18th in points and 24 in yards. The 2001 defense? 8th in points, 6th in yards. 2002? 1st in points, yards, T/O differential, and, to this day, they're still the best pass defense ever rated by Football Outsiders.

If Tony Dungy had been the coach in 2002, the Bucs would still have won the Super Bowl. Gruden's career involves building up credit with Rich Gannon going nuts, lucking into a Super Bowl with the Bucs, and coasting on that for years.

Jamin Davis before JOK is super surprising.

Not surprised to see Toney be the 4th WR off the board, but I wouldn't do it.

No way Bateman or Moore slide to the Packers right?

Who am I kidding they wouldn't take a WR.

They draft a WR right after announcing a trade of Rodgers.

Seriously though, how ballistic will Rodgers go if they draft a defensive tackle or something at #29?

Is this draft really weak at picks 15+? Because I'm looking down the big boards and I'm not seeing anyone that gets me excited. Maybe that's every draft and this one I'm just extra tuned in for.

So that's where Kellen Mond will go.

I don't think it's just you. This is a top heavy 1st round. We've already seen guys go that I expected in round 2. There's not THAT much difference between 20 and 40.

EDIT: Part of it is the lost 2020 season. You've got a lot of guys that didn't take that big step because they had a shortened or no 2020 season. A lot more projection, a lot less production.

And there goes Farley. I don't wish for him to have medical issues derail his career, but if it does happen, at least it's the Titans who will lose out.

Graphic on NFLN, for notable linemen drafted from Miami.

Cortez Kenneyd, Russell Maryland, Warren Sapp, Vince Wilfork . . . and Jaelan Philipos.

Uh . . . maybe slow your proverbial roll, guys?

Jerome Brown?

Why'd it take me until tonight until I realized Mac Jones resembles (Falcon and Winter Soldier spoilers):

Spoiler:

US Agent?

Darrisaw is a good consolation trade-down pick after getting sniped on Slater.

So a RB actually does go in round 1

Since when did they start listing fractions of inches in players' heights?

Jenkins and JOK on the board, Jags...

Just asserting the fact that the US of A will not adopt the metric system.

The Combine has always measured to the eighth of an inch.

lol Jaguars

Run on RBs!

Nice! Another RB taken oh it was Jags also.

Uh, can't enough draft enough first round RBs?

Etienne? A year after finding James Robinson in undrafted free agency? Meh. Passing on tackle was dumb IMO.

Baalke had to tweak my good night.

I'm happy about this pick for my dynasty team. Was worried Miami was going to take him in 2nd round and kill Gaskins' value. Thank you Jags.

Very weak after all the high end offense went because there's so little high end defense this year.
