Genshin Impact Gacha-of-the-Wild All

I went looking for some data on 5* drop rates in AR40 domains vs AR45 domains. The best data I found suggested that the drop rate was 10% in AR40 vs 100% in AR45 with a chance for more. That's incredible. I thought the worse case scenario would be 50%. Perhaps I found bogus data, but <10% resin efficiency for 5*s does explain why all those "Don't do artifacts until AR45" YouTube videos exist.

For comparison, leylines are about 87% as resin efficient at AR40 as they are at AR45. Weapon ascension material domains top out at AR40, so you're already as efficient as possible farming that right now. Talent domains are 75% as resin efficient at AR45.

Cool. I've done a couple of the artifact domains already, but I don't think it was a waste as it improved what I had, but I won't go whole hog until AR45.

Speaking of using resin wisely, I don't know if it's been mentioned here or not, but next week people may want to wait until the patch hits before doing the weekly bosses. They apparently are adding something where your first 3 boss rewards will cost half the resin. Although I'm not sure exactly how it will work next week, since the patch will hit a couple days after the big bosses reset.

Yeah, that's actually the case with every patch reset -- since the battle pass resets with the patch (which happens on Tuesdays), but weekly progress resets on Mondays, you would at at the very least be missing out on battle pass progress if you do weekly bosses on the Monday or Tuesday morning before a patch.

But yeah, this week the situation is higher stakes, since the cost change for weekly bosses will also mean you'll lose out of the new discount for your first three bosses of the week. (This change is being made due to this patch adding a fourth weekly boss, so they're taking pit on folks who need talent materials from all four.)

Eh, you're not exactly missing out, as you can refight all the bosses for BP credit. You just can't claim the rewards again. It's fairly trivial to rerun Stormterror and Childe as you can just thrash them on the lowest difficulty. You do have to fight full strength Andrius, but that still takes less time than just getting there.

That being said, there is a definite downside this time. Namely losing out on 90 resin.

That's always been a bit of an annoyance when trying to just chew through the weekly tasks.

Has anyone else been having trouble with the daily check-in web rewards? I've lost about 4 days now because it's just gone dumb on me (Chrome PC and Android) and refuses to recognize it's a new day and allow the reward. I've been stuck on the 3rd primogem reward for 2 days now.

My only trouble is remembering to do them. There was a weekend where it just completely slipped my mind and now I'm also 4 days behind. Enough to cost me some Hero's Wit, but no lost primogems thus far. One thing to be aware of is that the checkin reset time is not the daily server reset time. For me in MST, the server resets at 2am, but the daily check-in reset is 9am. Combine that with the different hillichurl web event reset time (10pm maybe) and unless you have a consistent playtime each day, it's quite possible to miss something.

Oh, the conversation about BP readiness reminded me of another thing to hold off on if you want to get started fast. There's 900 points out there each week for the bounties and requests. If you want those BP points next week, those do need to be saved as they can't be redone.

And be sure to do all the bounties / city rep each week, even after maxing out your BP, as that's worth 150,000 mora.

BTW, people weren't kidding when they said resources and mora become an issue when you reach higher levels. All through the game up until now I've been, like---I have millions of mora and it's only costing me 500 or so to enhance items; this is fine.

Now I'm like---I just ran through that domain 3 times to get the materials I needed to ascend that weapon, what do you mean I only have enough mora to level it from 70 to 73?

Also, people who are still hoping for a Jean on their account are going to hate me...
I had 3 normal wishes from in-game rewards and I wished on them this morning. First got me a rare constellation for one of the free characters; Kaeya. The next got me Jean again. I now have a C2 Jean. This was wish 59 on the regular banner -but I think that the 20 wishes on the novice banner at the start of the game counts as regular wishes, so it technically counts as wish 79.

Finally, have they said if the characters in the store you can get for starglitter will change at the end of the month, and if so have they said who will be available? (that pull for Jean just put me with enough starglitter to get one of the characters, and I'm NOT using it for a C1 Amber.)

Right now they haven't said, but for the first six rotations we saw:

  1. Razor & Amber
  2. Bennett & Lisa
  3. Barbara & Kaeya
  4. Fischl & Xiangling
  5. Beidou & Noelle
  6. Ninggaung & Xingqiu

We are just at the end of the seventh rotation and we are back to Razor & Amber. The going theory is that they are on a set rotation, so while not announced, we're expecting to see Bennett & Lisa next.

Of course there are no guarantees. They may sneak in Diona and Xinyan at some point, with Rosaria and Yanfei sliding in a few months from now.

OH, C1 Bennett would be awesome. That's actually what I was hoping to hear. I've got my fingers crossed that the speculation is true.

Mihoyo finally released an Official Interactive Map to help find and track items in the game.

Twelve hours till maintenance begins, and an estimated five hours till 1.5 is live! Plan your commissions and resin accordingly (you'll regenerate just under 130 resin between now and then).

Edit:
Good grief! This is the fourth day straight I've logged into the commission "Michelle Never Stops!" Please! Stop already!

But Michelle Never Stops...you are asking her to stop!

This map is amazing and looks very comprehensive! No more googling sketchy maps when I want to locate valberries or Fatui Agents to get the mats I need to ascend a character.

But those repeat daily commissions when you have achievements tied to other dailies that haven't popped is really annoying. I'm still waiting to do a 2nd commission for Victor in the cathedral and the achievement with the 3 kids in Liyue Harbor. I've done all 4 commissions almost every day since I unlocked them near launch. Almost all the randomness in this game is to it's detriment as a method to string along the player. Random relic rewards, random wishes with 9/10 pulls being 3*, random commissions, random world boss rewards. All of it makes the game less fun, but a better [money] treadmill. It could be argued that mmmaaaayyybe some randomness helps, but getting a fire damage artifact with anemo DMG % up and all manner of others like that have no business in the game, and the repeating commissions.

Did I mention the randomness would be the reason I quit? The rest of the game is fantastic. Visuals, music, gameplay, exploration, voic- ok maybe not voices, traversal, and quest lines. I enjoy it all. I even had an amazing moment today when doing a commission at the north eastern tip of Mondstadt, the sun was rising and the water was an amazing color. Such a great moment, but I didn't screenshot it because I was in a dialog and it was gone by the time I was done.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo... I'm usually good about logging in to at least convert my Resin to Condensed Resin before bleeding much, but I forgot to account for maintenance today. The pain!

Now to catch up on some old posts:

In case you're not aware, the artifact drop rates are significantly greater in the domain versions that unlock at AR45. Getting something more serviceable is reasonable, but I wouldn't go too hard until AR45.

Yeah, this is good advice. You might find people saying something like "don't do artifact domains at all until AR45!" and from a pure resin efficiency perspective they're not wrong, but given the sorry state my artifacts were in when I reached AR40, it would have been a lot less fun getting to AR45 if I hadn't done just enough to get some decent starter pieces (ie, probably mostly still purple pieces, with a few lucky orange drops, getting something close to decent main stats but not worrying about substats) for my core characters.

I didn't do any artifact domains from 40-45. I stuck to Talent Book domains since the drop rates for those was much more efficient at that AR. It was a good plan, but admittedly, it was a bit painful sticking with my terrible artifacts for that long I wouldn't blame anyone for doing some artifact farming in that range.

If you do, I would just say to only do enough to get decent main stat pieces. Don't worry about substats yet. Also, don't burn any original resin yet. Save all of that for 45 and beyond for the guaranteed 5* drops.

F**K me. I just spent 5 single wishes in hopes that I could get a constellation on Rosaria or Fischl.

The 3rd wish went gold and now I have Tartaglia (Childe) on my account. I didn't realize I was that close to pity.

Then the 4th wish got me a C1 Fischl. One more and I'd be at C2 which is think is a big boon for her.

My first thought is I want to stick to the plan and get Fischl up and max Rosaria, then I'll figure out about adding Tartaglia later.

Childe was my first 5* character. He's a bit of an oddball, and generally viewed as one of the weaker 5* units, but as Zero described, he can be incredibly powerful with the right team behind him. He's the best hydro applier in the game, which makes him a prime candidate for enabling Xiangling to do crazy damage or for the fireworks comp.

I'm not sure if it's just because the banner was up or if his team comps have just been gaining popularity lately, but TenTen put up a Childe guide this week, and JinJinx put up two, one on mechanics/builds and one on team comps. Coincidentally, this was the week I finally took my Xiangling from lvl 60, lvl 70 weapon, +16 artifacts, and lvl 9 ult to lvl 80, lvl 90 weapon, +20 artifacts, and lvl 13 ult. I think my Xiangling artifacts could still use quite a bit of work, but the improvements in my Abyss capabilities were very noticeable.

This was the first week I managed a 36 star clear, and it was surprisingly easy thanks to this combo. Childe team destroyed one half and Ganyu damn near soloed the other I had been stuck at 35 stars for my previous two clears.

I'd actually like to ask for some advice on my Xiangling setup, but I can't get in to check my gear or take any screenshots at the moment, so it'll have to wait. I'm rocking something like 530 EM, but barely 1000 attack. I've had some weird artifact rolls for her. Thankfully, the EM is good for this particular comp, but I'm assuming I'd still be better off trading half of it for more attack and/or crit dmg.

I'm also eager to try out the fireworks comp sometime, especially now that I have my coveted C6 Fischl, but my Beidou is currently still only C1. It sounds like C2 is a gigantic power spike, so I'll wait until I can get another Beidou copy before investing in that.

Lol, just did 2 wishes. Got 2 Noelles.

Edit: and on my 4th pull, got the 50/50 pity Zhongli.

Edit 2: wow, so something crazy going on, 6th pull got another fischl, 8th pull got a Diluc, 11th pull got Yanfei

I was going to hold off on pulling on this banner, but I did the Yanfei trial run and there's something really appealing about having a character shout things like "I object!" and "Inadmissible evidence!" in battle. It's just the perfect level of absurdity for me.

I had basically zero pity on the character banner, so I took a chance and did my first 40 rolls since two of the three four stars on this round work for me while I only need constellations for one of the rumored characters for Eula's banner. I got much luckier than usual, pulling two Yanfei, one Diona, a Dragon's Bane (which is situationally useful for my teams), and finally a R2 for my Stringless. The bad news is, I'm now sure to get C4 for Qiqi when I try to roll Eula in a few week's time.

Is there any point in rolling the weapon banner? I have a bunch of characters I don't know what to power up now, but it seems it wouldn't be very effective anyways since my weapons are pretty much trash.

ukickmydog wrote:

The 5* weapons can be massive power spikes for most characters. If you really want to maximize a character's power, that's a good way to do it. It's also completely unnecessary. Good 4* weapons are plenty powerful to clear everything in the game.

I've yet to roll on that banner. Maybe I will in the future, but getting a new stat stick is so much less exciting to me than rolling for a brand new character, or even a good constellation.

Generally speaking, no -- the weapon banner is mostly a trap. The way it works is nasty:

As with the character banner there is a hard and soft pity tracker, and it's actually a bit lower (80 vs 90 for hard pity), but there is a MUCH less charitable version of the 50/50 system. Basically, your first 5 star hit only has a 50% chance to be ONE of the two banner weapons -- it could just as easily be any random 5 star weapon listed in the details of the banner, and while most are generally pretty good, who could say if they'll be good for characters you want to use. Then, once you've failed the 50/50, your next 5 star hit will be ONE of the two banner weapons, and then it all resets. What this means is that you have NO guarantee that you'll ever get a specific one of the two weapons -- you could roll forever and potentially only ever get copies of one and not the other.

So, there are two scenarios where you still might consider rolling:

- If BOTH of the 5 star weapons on the banner are something that would be equally valuable for one of your most used characters, AND you can commit to rolling enough to get through a 50/50 failure and get to a guaranteed drop of one 5 star weapon.

- If most (if not ALL) of the 4 star rate up weapons are something that might be useful to characters you use frequently. Four star drops work like they do on the character banner -- every other four star drop will be guaranteed to be one of the rate up weapons, but you can potentially roll forever and not get copies of any specific one. Also, beware that while all 5 stars on the banner are weapons, 4 star characters can drop when you aren't on a guaranteed rate up roll.

So, here's the other thing: 5 star weapons are great, and most likely will be an improvement over whatever 4 star you might have. But, not always -- for example, if you've got a high refinement version of some of the better four star weapons, they might be better for some characters (depending on artifacts, etc) than a single refinement 5 star weapon, and there are certain characters that always are best with a specific 4 star weapon (such as Xingqiu and the Sacrificial Sword). But there's no content in the game that requires them -- in fact, it's not too hard to get so powerful even just with 4 star weapons that most fights are trivialized anyway.

So, my general recommendation would be to save your rolls for character banners with appealing characters. New characters (or constellations for ones you have) add a lot more fun and excitement to the game than most weapons will -- mostly, weapons are just stat sticks to let you do what you already do with slightly bigger numbers. Only a few will genuinely change the way you play the game. And as you play the game, you will eventually pick up more and better weapons, be it via crafting, events, drops from character banners, and the battle pass. (Worth noting: most of the battle pass weapons are QUITE good, especially for your carries, since they give crit rate stats. Actually, really only the bow is questionable, depending on what 4 star weapons you've rolled from the gacha.) Also, the Blackcliff weapon series that will be in the stardust store all next month are another 4 star option that's usually quite good for most carries, since they have crit dmg stats.

Finally, this weapon banner in particular is NOT good.

Memory of Dust is usually the top choice for Ningguang, but the other 5 star catalysts are pretty close and will travel between characters better. And Summit Shaper is no one's best choice among 5 stars, not even for the character it was designed around (Albedo) -- as a carry, at least one other 5 star is better, and as a support he does best with a 3 star weapon! (Granted, that is a rare situation.)

The 4 star offerings are a bit better, but not great. The Flute and Eye of Perception are decent, but middle of the road options for most characters that can use them -- great to use if you have them, but nothing to roll specifically for. Sacrificial Bow is a top choice if you use Diona as a healer often, but most other bow users are going to have other 4 star choices they'd prefer, so again, nothing to try to roll specifically for. Use it if you've got it, especially vs a 3 star option, but that's it other than on Diona. And as for the Lithic weapons, they CAN be quite strong if you're running teams with three or four Liyue characters, but I personally wouldn't invest too hard into something that restricts my team comp choices so much.

Alright everyone! When you are in your teapot, open up the map and click on "No guests currently" at the top right. This will open up a window, at the bottom of which you can change whether or not players have to ask permission to enter. Allowing direct join will help, especially on weekends when we will want to visit other players' merchants.

Now everyone can see the messes we've made just to get more coins generating per hour!

So how does one add people to the friends list in this game? Is there a gamertag I'm missing somewhere?

Select the "Friends" icon in the main menu. The middle icon at the top is add friends. You will need their UID (mine is in the screenshot above). Might be easier for you to post your UID and let us add you, rather than half a dozen of us trying to post ours again.

For those of us who need particular wood in the near term, I have found this image helpful:

IMAGE(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/757341308460466316/837016540414214214/unknown.png)

Going forward, I plan to hit every tree I pass by 3 times so I never have to target farm. One thing I have noticed is that if you hit the tree too fast, you don't get 3 drops. There seems to be an internal cooldown on the wood dropping that's slower than Zhongli's attack speed.

Also, a reminder that if you want furniture crafting speedups, set your Sereneteapot join settings as Mantid advised. I've added visiting a dozen Tubbys for crafting speedups to my logoff routine.

And done!

EDIT:

And crafting sped up where I was able to visit!

So farming wood require only 11 trees. Each tree drops only three pieces of wood until you farm 10 other trees, so by finding a group of 11 you can farm them indefinitely.

Teapot merchants have a limited inventory, shared across all playing in your teapot. If there is anything you must have, buy it today, or one of us might end up buying tomorrow (or turn off the ability for friends to enter at will).

Also, one of the endings of Noelle's Hangout II references this incredible fanart. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the heads up!

Edit: D'oh! I kind of spent more than I intended to at the special shop, and forgot that I needed a new recipe from the regular shop this morning to get some serious progress happening this morning. Whoops!
