Why Are So Many Young People Becoming Socialists?

The rest would become socialists if they had any time leftover after uploading job resumes and then immediately filling out forms with the exact same information.

WTF kind of question is that? That title does not make me want to stomp the play button.

Any chance of a summary?

It’s a pro-socialist take explaining how younger generations coming of age during late capitalism is causing a dramatic increase in the popularity of socialist policies.

Does My Neighborhood Determine My Future?

Thanks to the regimented nature of these forums, and the fact that the other video thread has “entertain me” in the title, I feel like this is the appropriate place to post this but I also wish I could post it somewhere else so that more than just the people who follow this half of the forum will see it.

I would love for the US to adopt these election laws from the UK.

Republican Senator John Kennedy Asked Stacey Abrams Which Provisions Of The Georgia Voting Law She Objected To And She Didn't Hold Back

well that got taken down fast.

So did Kennedy. Hey-oo!

Good gods that was painful to watch. Kennedy is not arguing from a position of good faith, and his constant interruptions and shifting goalposts is infuriating.

f*cking Republicans. I'm sick of their hypocritical horsesh*t.

Drink a shot every time he says "platitudes"

Hah, an actual discussion and debate video.

But, yeah, definitely not in good faith.

Opinions from around the world about US health care.
Pretty much what you would expect but it has a few bits of data. One that drives me nuts is they talk about how much Americans pay for health care and get so little but in their countries they pay little and get a lot - but the fail to add in how much they pay in additional taxes to cover that healthcare.

As I understand it, if you look at all the taxes charged by both the Feds and the states, and then all the fees you have to pay to states to get the various services that are required to live a modern life, and then lump in how much is being paid on your behalf for healthcare, and then add in whatever you pay monthly, plus all your copays, taxes in Europe are usually lower, overall, for almost everyone. Only the really rich pay more.

The biggest obstacle to real change (not just health care change) in the US.

The bolded part is what most Americans forget about. It's not just you paying for your healthcare, your employer pays a huge chunk of the cost, whereas employers in Canada (and I assume European countries, though I don't know for sure) don't pay anything for general healthcare.

A quick google that I have not checked for accuracy seems to indicate that 82% of your health plan cost is paid by your employer. If you leave that out of your calculations, like many do, it's easy to come up with numbers that paint the American healthcare system as much cheaper than it actually is.

Video about sharks and the little fish that follow them. Also its a video about Apple and the companies that follow them. And do you really have a choice in what you buy. Do those fish really have a choice in following the shark.

Let's talk about why Republicans don't want a commission....

* just finished watching it myself and man is it depressing. Or just disheartening. All her predictions are wrong but she doesn't care. Still believes all the crap.
It really is a mental illness. When I worked at a drop in center for the mentally ill I once had a long conversation with a schizophrenic where we fully agreed and showed there were no voices and and the end they just said " yup and there are voices"
It didn't matter, facts, evidence, reason, logic don't matter.
And I don't know that it ever did. We just used to be separated enough that it didn't matter if the farmer 5 miles alway thought his cows were talking to him.
It only matters now because the I'll people can feed their illness much easier.

QAmom - Confronting my mom's conspiracy theories

Sean Donnelly is an animator and filmmaker. In this touching, sad, and kind of terrifying video, he chronicles his mother's descent into the madness of QAnon conspiracy theories.

The Qanon Casualties subreddit is filled with stuff like this.

The mom in the video is actually a bit unusual in that she admits that her predictions were wrong- from what I’ve personally witnessed both with my own relatives and by lurking in Qanon forums and on Telegram normally the Qcumbers insist that their predictions actually happened but are being hidden from the public by patriot operatives to prevent widespread panic among those who aren’t yet “awakened” enough to accept the truth of Q.

This is the way American democracy ends: not with a bang but a hurr-durr.

What is the 'official' term for Qanon acolytes, out of interest?

"Suckers."

Although, it might be about time to make "griftee" common usage.

There’s not really an official widely accepted term outside of just “Qanon Believer.” They call themselves “Anons” but “Qultist” is the most common one I’ve seen among everyone else, though a lot of people just call them a random word with “Q” inserted. “Qcumber” for example.
