What do you expect from someone that tried to legitimize hitler. It would be shocking if she didn't support a murderous racist cop.

OMG really?!? I don’t know much about her but she seems to be the go-to for “Chauvin’s innocent” crowd.

Of course. If they can find one Black person to agree with them, then all the other ones are wrong. Seriously.

She's the go to for all racists. Such an Uncle Tom.

Sadly, I can’t provide counter arguments without being told that she’s a lawyer so way smarter than me, and that I’m the real racist disagreeing with a Black woman.

Candace dropped out of the University of Rhode Island during her junior year citing "an issue with her student loan" and never graduated, let alone went to law school and passed the bar.

And Candace isn't exactly a welcome guest at The Cookout so it's difficult to be the "real racist" for disagreeing with someone the Black community as a whole is barely tolerates.

I'm sure she gets conservative points for being "one of the good ones," but disagreeing with her doesn't make you racist.

She was giving a speech defending nationalism and said that Hitler’s only fault was trying to expand his power beyond Germany’s border and later when people called her out on it she just accused them of being racist.

Yeah, apologies to the crowd, but "telling white people what they want to hear about black people" has never not been a lucrative line of work for black people. It's been my emergency backup plan for years now. Claim I've had a revelation, I'm now a #WalkAway person and have left the Democratic Plantation, my family has disowned me, please donate to my GoFundMe/Patreon/Etc here.

As far as that woman goes, I couldn't express my opinion without giving Amoebic more work.

EDIT: I don't mean that as a slight against Amoebic, I should make clear. I mean my sentiments grossly violate the CoC.

Candace Owens's star is already fading now that we have a functioning government again. She'll pop up when bigots need an Uncle Tom, but other than that she's been debased to begging Cardi B for attention in order to stay relevant.

Eh, conservative talking heads tend to do better under Democratic administrations- Most of the current crop, including Owens, came to prominence under Obama and Trump was bad business for them because they had to rationalize and sell his narcissistic whim-based decisions. Now all they have to do is complain about stuff.

A reminder, discrimination in any form is systemic. Thus, battling racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc., are about battling ideas and systems that stem from those ideas. It doesn't matter who perpetuates and sustains those ideas, because it is often not about the individuals, but the systems that codify discrimination.

The power structures (most often, but not exclusively white, cis, straight, men) will always be able to find people to act as "model minorities" to perpetuate discrimination (like Ms. Owens, Kaitlin Jenner, Kanye West, Tomi Lahren, etc) and will always sacrifice a few of their own when they are seen as being destructive to the system they perpetuate (Chauvin, Bill O'Reiley, etc.). But ultimately, the power-brokers that benefit from the systems will always do what is best for the systems at the expense of the individuals (whether elevating exemplars or excluding deviants).

Battling discrimination is about battling ideas and systems, not people! You can promote antiracism and disagree with certain black people, you can fight for feminism and disagree with certain women, you can be pro trans while disagreeing with certain trans people, etc.

I always understood systemic social problems to be different from individual ones, in that they are self-sustaining without needing individuals with the problem to drive them. People can be in and of themselves racist - that's not systemic in any way, it's a personal problem, but it exists all around us and affects people every day. But systemic racism is taking beliefs or skewed data that arises in racist environments and building them into persistent social, legal, religious, political, medical, bureaucratic, corporate or other structures. Systemic racism is detached from personal racism in that it can continue to operate even if the every single person affected by it has no racist intent or beliefs. However, racism exists in both forms *independent* of each other. We should not lose sight of either form.

Did I miss something? We need to work on individuals, but we also need to remake systems that were built with racist data and understandings that exist independent of individual racism.

These people can't die off soon enough.

It's going to be a long wait considering the views of a substantial chunk of young white people.

And in other f*cked up news the city of Elizabeth City, N.C. has declared a state of emergency in advance of the Sheriffs office releasing body cam footage of the deputies shooting Andrew Brown Jr. in the back and killing him last week. Nothing says "this video blatantly shows us murdering someone" like declaring a state of emergency before the footage is even released as well as closing all city offices for the day.

The release of the video has been delayed so the Sheriffs office can blur the faces of the deputies involved because, again, nothing says "we just straight out merc'd this dude" like taking extra effort to obscure the identities of the killers.

As a white man in favor of racial Justice and equality I’d like to encourage all white folks to stop reproducing. Keep on having sex, please. But go to your doctor and ask to be sterilized. White women, if your man won’t get a vasectomy then just take the pill for the rest of your life. Or until menopause. Gay whites, just do what comes naturally.

That's literally racists' greatest fear: that non-whites will out reproduce white people and replace us in all aspects of society.

Personally I think it's their second greatest fear. Their greatest fear is that non-whites will reach a point where they can treat white people exactly how white people have historically treated them.

The family was only allowed to see a 20-second clip.

Who could have guessed.

Family attorneys said the footage began with multiple deputies firing at Brown, who had his hands on the steering wheel of his vehicle in his driveway while being shot at. Cherry-Lassiter said Brown then drove his vehicle away from the deputies while they continued to shoot. She said Brown did not present a threat to the deputies. Deputies continued to shoot after Brown's car crashed, she added, saying his car was "riddled" with bullets.

...

Attorneys said they wanted to see footage from before the shooting began, but that Pasquotank County Attorney R. Michael Cox only allowed the "pertinent" portion to be shown. Brown family lawyers said they expected there to be additional law enforcement body camera video from all of the deputies involved, as well as a light pole camera.

Only the shooting is pertinent? Gtfo with that nonsense

As a gay white, I disagree. Also the pill is destructive long term and not advised. Gay whites (esp cis gay whts) need to be held accountable for a f*ckton of sh*t that we've historically gotten a pass from the straights for that has been incredibly destructive and harmful for lgbtq+ people of color. Including, but not limited to, appropriation, reenforcing white-dominant social hierarchy, and turning blind eyes on the double-minority risk of our poc family.

(I know it's satire, rawk, just wanting to make a point).

White women. If your dude won't get snipped (a 15 minute procedure where aftercare is "sit on your ass and a ply a bag of frozen corn if you get sore") and tells you to get your tubes tied (a serious invasive medical procedure that requires general anesthesia and aftercare), you might want to ask yourself why you are with that man.

I will say I've had some painful side effects from the procedure, Mudbunny, and that's not uncommon. Not debilitating, but ongoing, which is kind of concerning.

Yeah. I was sounding off.

If my whiteness, straightness, cis’ness ever makes me less relevant as an individual, it can’t come soon enough. I was taught by my family and TV and movies that I’m a special boy. Why am I special? No reasons were ever given. It’s a pretty messed up notion to indoctrinate someone into believing. Just like Santa Clause only much more demented.

As a White parent, I want to say there's another alternative. Teach your kids not to be sh*tty racists.

To be clear, I would never pressure someone to be a parent. But if all the White folks trying to make a difference decide not to have kids, you get Idiocracy. Cause Confederate Bubba is going to have at least 5 kids with each of his three wives. And that's not counting the ones he has with his 15-year-old mistress so he can get on Maury.

well yes its not risk free, but it's also not major abdominal surgery that breaches the body cavity wall, which i think was the point.

I am sorry to hear you are having ongoing complications though, that sucks.

It also makes me think that maybe some cops dropped the n-word or did or said something equally as egregious. I’m absolutely dying to know what they’re hiding.

The footage will eventually become public when the inevitable trial happens, presumably. It seems to me that the adage of the coverup being worse than the original sin should be followed.
