NFL 2021: Draft

What took longer? The writing or the gif hunting?

The writing took longer but was much more straightforward. The GIF hunting drove me nuts. "Why has nobody made a GIF of that?"

If I did this again, I'd probably plan to create more GIFs myself, for all the stupid outdated references I couldn't find GIFs for this time around.

Dat Etienne gif is perfect.

Dork. Why didn't you make the first 4 posts in the thread as space savers and then edit in each day.

I like how you said 4. You're still holding out hope for cheerleader Thursday.

Tell you what, if the Niners DON'T draft Mac Jones on Thursday, I'll post all the college cheerleader GIFs I can scrounge up.

I was hoping for a punters/kickers evaluation. Pretty much like discount cheerleaders, right?

Milkman is the expert on draft kickers and punters.

Me when the Jets shock everyone and draft Justin Fields, and the Niners respond by abandoning their Mac Jones plans to take Zach Wilson:

All paths lead to Jones.

That feels more like a threat at most of our ages.

Male cheerleaders.

And I still don't know what is most stupid, that the Niners traded a haul to move up to

1) not take at least the second best QB in the draft,
2) had no idea who they were going to take (the literal plot of Draft Day
3) to take a player that would've been available to them where they were

And the Jets are stupid too. But I expect that from them, I thought your 49ers would know better.

Also, Wyatt Davis will be a great late second, early third round pick for someone.

A 6th rounder. Damn. Well, good for the Broncos in getting at least a decent option there, but it's got be galling for Bridgewater to go for a 6th.

Feel like neither Carolina nor Denver are going to pick in their spots if there's a QB available.

Glad I didn't waste money on Panthers gear. And now I don't have to cheer for them anymore either.

Twitter also tells me that Carolina will pick up $7M of Bridgewater's $11.5M deal for 2021.

What a train wreck for Carolina. They've have screwed up every part of Bridgewater, from the moment they brought him to Charlotte to when they ran him out of town. And they paid to do it!

Carolina's definitely in the running for the NFL's Dumbest Franchise.

Bridgewater had $10 mil guaranteed salary this year, so retaining $7m and trading him lets them save $3m (though it's more like $2m because if Teddy was cut and then signed a minimum deal elsewhere, the minimum deal would have offset Carolina's obligations).

They get a 6th rounder and $2m extra cap space as an alternative to outright release. Which at least is something, but they painted themselves into a corner on this one.

Tepper is learning all his lessons the hard way, I see.

I doubt there's been any learning. Almost guaranteed that Rhule and Tepper blame Marty Hurney for signing Bridgewater in the first place. It can't be anything Rhule did that was wrong, it was all Teddy's fault and Hurney's fault for signing him.

That'll involve some serious ret-conning. Teddy was Rhule's guy all the way, sort of like how Cam was "our guy." And you saw how the Panthers did Cam, too.

#šhïñëTHRŪthëŠHÄDĒ!

I love Cam, but, man, what a weird dude.

Bridgewater is 28, and, if you count his brief stint with the Jets in camp, is on his fifth team. At that age, Ryan Fitzpatrick had only been on three teams.

If you say anything negative about Rashod Bateman or, god forbid, ignore him entirely in your offense post, I'm going to be very unhappy.

Don't worry, you can draft him in dynasty and he'll be the next Jefferson.

To be fair, folks weren't even sure Teddy could play again, so that threw a wrench in things.

I missed this comment. I trust my evaluation of Bateman was satisfactory? Though I guess calling out the drops counts as something negative. And then I did bash Minnesota's jersey numbers and coach who snubbed Trey Lance.

Teddy Bridgewater's recovery from that horrible leg injury is inspirational and we all--

*ALEX SMITH HAS ENTERED THE CHAT*

Picking a nit here, but Darrisaw is listed as Virginia instead of Virginia Tech.

Enjoyed the writeups and gifs and looking forward to SF not taking Jones and us getting a cheerleader ranking.

Still think Mills will go well before Trask. I have this weird feeling someone is going to trade into the end of round 1 and take him. There's good odds / money to be made in sportsbooks on the over of 5.5 qbs in round 1.

Edit: I reserve the right to take that last line back if the Patriots trade for Jimmy G.

I don't know what you're talking about.

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about with the numbers. I even did a google image search and they appear to be the same size as the other teams in the same pictures. I think you might just be a crazy person.

The Lance thing doesn't bother me at all since no other D1 coach recruited him as a QB. We already had one QB on the roster that was only here because everyone else wanted him to be a TE. I did see somebody mention that Lance's high school had a very run heavy offense so he may have just had no tape coming out of high school (I pay zero attention to high school football so I don't know how true this is).
