Satisfactory - a Factorio-like First Person game

I just got nuclear up and running. Just in time for the patch to break it. But what am I supposed to do with all the nuclear waste?

They teased that maybe there will be some things to do with it in the next patch.

I thought we were supposed to put storage containers deep inside a mountain cave system and forget about them just like in real life.

My plan was to run conveyor belts to the edge of the map and have them fall into the void but things don't fall off the end of the line.

Can you just trash them from the inventory screen?

Nope.

You can put them in a truck and drive the truck off a cliff. But apparently they don't get garbage collected so eventually your game will grind to a halt.

Just build a massive storage building at the edge of the map and never go there.

God, who decided that combat was a good feature for a game where you build factories? I hope they put a chillout mode in the final game.

In the tutorial I died at the first iron ore node and lost my little zapper thingy. Just seems like bad design to me, or maybe I'm too old and not l33t enough. Unsatisfactory.

You shouldn't lose anything. It will be where you were killed. However I do agree with the sentiment. I've started a new save and running around to kill things just because I don 't have oil yet is getting a bit annoying.

Unless you die falling off an edge or in the central pit. I'm not sure they've fixed that issue yet.

Update four patch notes.

Which includes

- Lights
- Drones
- a different kind of jet pack
- Blender
- hadron collider
- zip line grapple
- Reworking tier 7 and adding tier 8
- plus more I forgot.

Update 4 is pretty great! Starting over again.

Is the update only on Experimental?

Yea, it'll probably be there for a month or so based on previous big patches

Wow, they massively boosted aluminum production.

Doing the math, I think I can basically quadruple my aluminum sheet output (double aluminum ingot output) with the same bauxite input and slightly higher copper and coal inputs. All with no alt recipes and fewer refineries.

About the same complexity, but just far less input resources and what used to be alts are now basic recipes.

My current production line is locked up right now because the water waste proportions all shifted around.

oops, posted twice.

Yay!

It's also 20% off on Steam currently. Given my current obsession with Dyson Sphere Program, I think I'll take the opportunity to finally pick this one up.

Mods aren't working with it yet. Maybe I'll restart without flight because my current factory kinda requires it.

The game has had a jetpack, but it was more of a slow decent that actual flight. Did they add a real one?

They added Hover Packs which run on electricity and are supposed to be great for hovering around the base. Might be just what you're looking for.

Its been a year or so since I played. The trailer had these small VTOL planes that looked like they might be delivering goods. Is this an equivalent to the automated trucks, just flying? That would be pretty sweet.

I believe their intended use is to transport a few high value, high density (ie refined or constructed) products around. Their capacity is limited but if you’re wanting to transport across the map without building a massive rail line or between different factories, that’s the use.

Note you don't get that until tier 7. But they are awesome.

Oh man i am hooked hard again, restarted, this time going back to the OG starter location grassy plains. Using more of those Scali style factory designs, even though I'm not anywhere close to have enough tickets for glass. still working on my tier 1 and 2 infrastructure but man i love this game.

I started up a new save on Experimental when they put Update 4 on there a month ago. I didn't get all that far in, so now I'm trying to decide if I should see if my old non-Experimental factory can load into update 4 intact, or if I should just start a new non-Experimental save.

My old save has a factory built on a massive platform floating above the purple crater area, which I kind of like, so I might just try that first.

I don't remember where that save was, maybe tier 5? Definitely after coal power and mancannon tubes, but not up to nuclear yet. Does update 4 basically kill that save totally, or might it come over intact?

You should be fine. My understanding is it really changes things that started in Tier 7.

You'll be fine. The first thing that really changes is aluminum production. But it's easy to tweak to fix if you have a factory. You will want to double check all your water in your coal plants, and also double check your fuel production if you have fuel generators.

I thought I was so clever finding a bug that let you click off the Satisfactory window while holding Space to keep crafting going while you walk away. Turns out they just made Space a toggle. Press space and walk away and your stuff gets crafted.

Nice little change since we were all 'phone crafting' anyway.

so ive finally set up plate production to get into tier 3 and 4. at what point do the new switches and batteries come in? (i am so tired of big game hunting and clear cutting to keep my factory operational, i had forgotten what a PITA it is)

Power storage is tier 4. Power switches I believe are in the MAM under caterium research.

But what you really want at this stage is coal power! Tier 3.
