Outriders - Catch All

Ok this game was not at all on my radar but wow am I loving this! It’s like Diablo and Destiny had a beautiful baby with the best genetics of each parent.

Have gotten past the tech issues by switching to DX11. My UE4 crashes were being caused by one specific quest, was able to finish it by taking a different route. Have not tried co-op yet, heard it was still buggy but actually enjoying the story. Am at lvl 19 and technomancer is a blast, looking forward to trying some of the other classes eventually.

Had ran into a bit of a gear and world tier wall at level 16 and world tier 5. Got to another major city and unlocked two additional question types and the rewards from the first 2 were legendary weapons and I'm immediately able to compete in world tier 6.

Caution to anyone playing right now: there’s a pretty nasty bug where dropping out of a multiplayer game, after having joined through the random team button, will wipe your character clean of all gear. Seems to only happen when leaving or crashing out of a multiplayer session. PCF has restored gear in the past that was lost but still will likely take a couple days if you lose it.

Doesn’t seem like multiplayer itself is broken, just their matchmaking isn’t ping based so you can end up p2p with someone who has 1,200 ping and be SOL

That was my experience as well. I felt bad dropping down to WT5 but I was just getting wrecked.

Don't sweat it. Have to enjoy the experience first..Get used to the skills, mix in cover, the drops will eventually come and you can then be in a better situation to bump up the world tier.

What are thoughts on doing the bounty hunts? Is it best to save them for high level or do them if you need a boost in power? I’m currently lvl 19 and doing WT7 without much trouble. I was thinking maybe save them for if I get stuck on a WT and need a gear boost.

That's what I am planning to do. I am finding that when I did them, I was getting awards that were similar and was overlapping for my level ie two assault guns of similar stats. I plan to wait unless I am in a rut levelling with older equipment.

Do them up to the last one and leave that till your max level. When you do the turn in for the last one you get a legendary.

I ran into the Detour mission bug and had to replay the same section 4 times including a couple game restarts. This can definitely feel a bit rough around the edges sometimes. I dropped down to WT5 just to hammer thru the bugged area again.

I’m up to 3 Epics equipped now with 2more sitting in inventory. The skill tree is a snooze fest but is more than made up for with the flexible mods system.

Anyone on gamepad? The shooting and movement still feels like I’m a puppet on ice skates trying to aim a carpet roll.

That pretty much describes why I don't play shooters on a gamepad.

Same here. That’s why I had to buy on Steam even though it’s free on Gamepass. I was having to drop missions to WT1 to compensate for my inability to point a gun in the general direction of bad guys.

I have no problem with using my Xbox One Elite controller on my PC for shooters like this.

To defend the good name of console shooters somewhat, I'm speaking as someone who's played FPS and TPS on consoles since OG Gears of War on the 360. Outrider's camera sensitivity and other game-feel designs are uniquely janky.

I am using a gamepad on PC cause I am a filthy casual. I have nothing to prove and it is my time to relax and enjoy.

To be fair I’d probably get better if I practiced with game pad. The kid wants to play with me so think I’m going to force myself to adapt. And maybe play devastator instead of techno because sniping with a pad does not take me to my happy place.

We are having the exact same experience and I am extremely happy about this.

I mean we all are aren't we? We're doing what makes us happy.

The good doctor and myself are at the same level, same class, same world tier issue, and each using a gamepad on PC. They’re my people.

I left most of them until I hit level 30 and WT9, then went back and gathered them all up. Not only is it a ton of nice epics, but you get the legendary for completion as well. At least for me, once you get to that point, having the right gear is critical and you're starting to buff / level the gear you have, so it gives you a bunch of options at once to optimize things.

I beat the final story boss solo at WT10, which was both difficult and satisfying. I watched a Twitch streamer do it at WT14 with a buddy, and I have to say I don't think there was much difference except that the boss had WAAAAY more HP. I ended up with a melee Devastator that was an absolute ton of fun.

Overall the story was both nonsensical (you can make an interstellar ship, but you can't send a few scouts down with a way to get back to the ship?) and very ... human in the way it turned out. I'd give it a six out of ten, serviceable without being particularly compelling.

The game itself, though, is pretty damn good. There's some control issues (grr sprint not working) and some bugs, but for a major release like this it was pretty tight and well done. The gameplay loop is compelling and enjoyable, and the world tier system allows everyone to play the way they like with no fuss. If you're focused on improving, it pushes you to use your resources to optimize and buff rather than hoard them, which I liked quite a bit.

On to drop pods!

Maybe its the grinding I did, or maybe it's Technomancer, but, so far, I haven't needed to drop the WT. Currently lvl 18 on WT10 and while i'm not just rolling through, I'm managing and only dying a bit. This is the reason why I decided againt using the trickster also. I had a feeling that all the fun and simple kills would go away once enemies had more health since you need to actually get kills to refill health. Technomancer heals a bit per shot so with my mini gun at 300+ ammo, ice turret freezing enemies, and healing skill that has a little bit of invincibility right after you pull it, I can handle a lot of the harder stuff. The biggest problem is with enemies surrounding me or spawning behind me as I move up and killing me before I notice them.

I havent played in a couple days because i'm waiting for my friends to have free time and i'm trying to stop from doing that thing we normally do where I play a lot and then when we all get together, I'm one-shotting their enemies - like in Borderlands 3. I'm one-shotting some enemies now with the snipers at 1500 damage and all the technomancer sniper boosts.

I struggled early on though because I didn't have a handle on my skills. Once I did that, I moved on to getting proper mod setup to enhance my skills or to do crazy stuff like 40% damage to all nearby enemies or the death chains that do like 2k over 10 seconds and I think the cooldown is like 4 seconds or 8 seconds - either way its less than the 10sec. I just unlocked the first hunt and I'll probably grind that too. I'm a Disgaea (and other JRPGs) player so if I can grind in a game, I do it. Feels good to melt bosses and even better in this game because you can raise or lower the difficulty. I think enemies are 6 levels higher than me right now and as long as I don't get close, I'm good. Coop adds a buttload of HP though so, always let the lower player host because it's insane. Feels like it's more than double hp.

Yea playing the technomancer to WT11 and pod tier 9 has confirmed to me that while the trickster is fun to play the technomancer is just OP. I'll spend more time with the others but progressing with this is surprisingly easier. My trickster is only WT10 and pod tier 6, and just pod tier 3 or 4 with the other 2.

It's about time the healing class got this much respect

World Tiers and Pod Tiers are separate right? WT only affects the level of gear drops and "story" enemy level but not Pod difficulty. Or am I interpreting the system incorrectly?

No, you are correct. I was concerned about this as I started doing pods at WT10, but after a couple of Challenge Tiers, my wearable gear level started going up.

I was just watching a streamer using a Techno minigun build that was just absurd. He was using the mod that refills your magazine if you get a kill when the magazine is less than 30%, and something that caused the damage to stack on kills. Essentially, the damage ramped as he killed (like to 100k+ per shot and sometimes higher) and with a little care he could keep the minigun supplied with ammo for a long time.

Edit: i'm an idiot. Yes they are separate and two different tiers.

Having a blast on PS5, rocking around WT 8 or 9. Can't wait for stable crossplay. Anyone else on the PSN until then?

I am!

PSN: ksmooches

I should be into this game, but I couldn't even finish the demo. I haven't had a game make me sick since Uncharted 1. I messed with the settings and it helped a bit. But even then, this still seems like multiple steps back from Div2.

This is actually not that nonsensical. Today anything we send to Mars is a one way trip, even a manned mission. It would take a lot of infrastructure to be able to build/assemble a rocket and get it ready to take off again. This game takes place in 2076 so it is feasible that they don't have the technology to fly smaller ships into space. They also mentioned that the main ship was built in space as there was no technology for something that big to take off.

I've been super tired these past few nights and ended up falling asleep on the couch, waking up to find the controller disconnected and TV dimmed. This is not out of boredom from the game itself, I don't think. As such my progress has been kind of slow. Up to Level 17 now and chilling at WT6 until I feel like the gearing has made me powerful enough to go back to WT7 and try pushing for 8.

I find it easy to do the side quests as I get them. I didn't think to save the bounties for later though. Maybe I'll try doing that. I found it more than a little amusing to see one of these named "Bloody Baron".

As for spending time with an alt, I was originally going to continue my demo Trickster in parallel but all this talk of the Technomancer is warming me up to it. I want to say Devastator and Trickster to play quite similarly in that "get in your face" manner, so maybe the Techno is what I need to spice things up.
