Loop Hero: What if Progress Quest had Gameplay?

Anyone having trouble farming I had better luck go to a lower chapter.

On a different note is there a enemy that breaks or steals equipment? Every now and then a slotted item goes missing.

Bandits have a chance of destroying a piece of your equipment every time they attack you. This can be any item, equipped or otherwise.

Man, I can't wait to double dip on this one when it goes mobile.

Whoo! Finally got the setup right to get to the final boss and took him down first try. Pretty cool final boss.

And with that I collected enough resources by looping afterward for a while to completely finish out my camp:

Now I’ve just got a few achievements left, the tough ones. What’s the best way for instance to die outside of battle? Fight poisoning enemies and keep your fingers crossed?

Hmm I wonder if you can use an Oblivion card on yourself?

Swamps, lots of swamps. I got that achievement from health regeneration on a swamp tile, but I believe you could also use Antique Wardrobes, Blissful Ignorance, or Surveyor on swamp tiles to get it.

Died to the first act boss today. I was pretty sure I wasn't ready, but I wanted to see him. Just a few more loops and then bed, I swear.

Something strange happened to me today. I was on a farming run with the rogue, and around loop 20, I got an Ancestral Crypt card. The thing is... I did not have the Crypt in my deck. I had the arsenal.

You can see in the screenshot that around the middle of the screen, above a beacon, I have the arsenal, and at the top right of the screen I have the crypt. Normally, you can only have one of those cards in your deck. I wonder what triggered the crypt being dealt to me.

Prime Matter (the third ghost from the Battlefield) can drop any card as a reward even if you don't have it in your deck, including gold cards (although you can't get a duplicate one). It's pretty rare though. I had it happen once not long after I started playing, it happened right before I built the Intel Center and unlocked the very same one that dropped. I guess I hadn't read carefully; I actually thought that was how you unlocked gold cards, through random chance.

Just picked this up. Here goes!

Just finished up my first fight with the final boss, managed to clear him out pretty quickly. Pretty unique mechanic for him!

I've enjoyed seeing others' loop map, seeing which tiles they are playing and where, as well as what class, so here's the one I ran with in the end, as messy as it ended up:

Finished the final boss fight. Only took me 8 loops. Pretty cool game to have going in a second window.

My only real criticism is that the starting class is very boring and once I unlocked the rogue and necromancer, I never saw any reason to go back.

Finally toppled the Chapter 3 boss today, that felt good. Chapter 4... that one is gonna be a heavy lift!

Hope this guy makes more:

Steam sale so I'm finally in. Just did tutorial and then a couple loops. Got another building built in camp. I love this. Too bad I'm going to visit mom this weekend and won't have my PC. Argh!

Hopefully get back to it next week.

Valve’s new Steam Link update lets you stream anywhere
I’ve never actually played the game at my PC; I’ve always used my iPad from elsewhere in the house. Maybe this Anywhere feature works well enough for your situation.

Sorry if this has been answered earlier, but has the feature to save during a run been implemented yet?

Edit: After the March PR blitz announcing these planned features, no timeline had been given for their implementation.

I hadn't tried it but that's good to know. I had a remote desktop client I used to use on my old PC. But I just built a new system and I wasn't comfortable leaving it on all the time while I'm away for 4 days.

Finally got back home and got some time with this again today. Read a tips article and discovered that meadows get bonus by placing near other different tiles, and a couple of other synergy things.

Also I didn't realize that letting your inventory get full and scrap items gains you resources. I was stupidly trying to use them up my first few runs. So I've still only got 2 buildings built after 4 or 5 loops without dying because I wasn't gaining one type of resource much at all, haha. Back to the grind later.

Think I'm ready to try the first boss. Tips say to get a gym first. Yay or nay?

I've got every thing built before the gym. And those skills from it look useful. But should I try anyway or do another loop to get gym materials?

EDIT: Never mind, I went for it and beat him fairly easily, still near half health. I got a grove and blood grove right by the campsite, and then stuck a couple more things around that area to keep him from gaining HP. I had some of those oblivion cards but managed to block all his extra stuff.

Had enough for gym and tavern after that, so now I have the Rogue, chapter 2, and some skills incoming I guess. Looks like a lot more to this game. Cool.

Tried Ch 2 a few times, mostly with the Rogue. Once with Warrior again. Got enough materials to build the building that unlocks Necromancer, and really liked that class the most so far. I did finally die, once with Rogue, once with Necro... just big groups of 4 or more mobs that I wasn't ready for apparently.

I did go back to Ch 1 and beat the Lich again with the Necro just to try it. Finally got forests and towers, over half of the buildings unlocked I think. It looks like several of the others require orb of expansion. I was looking that up and you have to fight 4 or more enemies. Seems like the best way to do that is with vampire mansions near other big spawns. But man, it's easy to get overwhelmed, and the drop rate on those things is pitiful. Not something I'm looking forward to grinding but it seems pretty much required if I ever want to finish the camp.

Started to get some supplies, and then traits unlocked during, and I can see that in the long run your hero gets more powerful. So hopefully the grind will get a little bit easier.... but I'm sure the next chapter enemies will get tougher too.

EDIT: Talking to myself here I guess... is anybody still playing this or did I miss the boat 6 weeks ago?

I figured that out as soon as I unlocked villages. Hate those guys. I've used oblivion on them a few times after I realized what was happening. I think one of my deaths, or maybe a close call that caused me to retreat, was due to a group of 3 of them, and they knocked out my equipped gear and suddenly were kicking my ass. Not fun.

Great game, but the fun factor for me really dropped off after beating the final boss a few times and maxing out my camp. Sure I could practice up and gain proficiency at other classes and chase the last few achievements, but that feels like work. Maybe there’ll be some new content or classes added sometime and I’ll love it again.

Yeah, about the same. Beat the final boss a couple times, filled in the camp completely, unlocked everything except a couple skills. Just waiting for DLC now.

Loop Hero v1.1 is live on PC with new bits for your harrowing loops:

* new tiles and enemies
* save mid-expedition
* escape during battle
* more speed options
* inventory management

Not quite enough for me to wade back in.

New tiles and enemies? I'm there!

I saw that Steam patched last night. Need to get back to this. Should be perfect to play in background while watching NBA playoffs.

I probably should have been playing this via Steam link or remote desktop or something when I was on vacation last month instead of Returnal. Much better for latency issues.

Developers react to speedrun.

Loving Loop Hero. I beat the first boss and set the game down for the rest of the day. The graphics and game pitch concept turned me off initially but I gave this game a try on Switch.

I unlocked the remaining two classes but have not tried them yet. Recommended one to try next?

Just the first boss? There's also the base-building game, the new cards that base unlocks get you, and the other bosses...

Just grab one and try it. You'll play all of them many times in the course of advancing the game. You've just done your first pool dive, but the open ocean awaits...
