Outriders - Catch All

Well I hope they stand those servers back up by the time I've finished dinner and my chores for the night. Daddy needs his pre-long weekend shooty shooty before passing out on the couch.

Played a technomancer to the first boss and was finishing the last side mission in the area when I got disconnected. Looks like the servers are acting up because I've been stuck on authenticating for 30 minutes or so. Time to call it a night but not bad for a launch day.

I've a good run on PS5.

Couple early tips I've discovered:

- Turn your historian quests in once you hit max level. The rewards are tied to your current character level so no real point in turning them in for level 17 loot when you'll toss it away in another level

- DO wear new gear. The bonuses to anomaly or firepower alone are enough to matter and help shred higher level enemies. And it's relatively cheap to slot new mods in. Looks like the math is roughly 5X item level in leather so I've been trying to put new gear on every two levels or so and slotting in my mods that I like

You can level up your items. That includes overall levels, mods, and attributes like anomaly power. There is no reason to wait til max level.

True but it’s fairly expensive to level gear up. 200 Iron to level a piece of gear from 13-14 is a lot. I’d need to spend 1,500 iron to level that sniper up to my current level cap. And higher rarity items are way more expensive. Titanium is a pretty rare resource so far.

I'm not having much luck getting toxic drops for my techno. Small issue I have is that the enemies are sometimes as scared as those Infamous 2 enemies where they will hide in one spot for like 20min as you clear everyone else and then all of a sudden appear as you are walking by. Also, enemies trigger spawns as you walk through certain areas which can be overwhelming when you are not the trickster who can just drop a slowdown area and get away. Usually my deaths are due to getting surrounded and not realizing.

And yes, the disconnects during fights is annoying, especially when you struggled to get to that final spot where the boss is located.

I haven't tried the trickster yet, partly because I suspect I will just annihilate everything. The easiest time I've had so far has been with the devastator. I think it gets a passive 30% damage reduction which really helps as I struggle to heal with other classes. That will change once each class unlocks modding. Though I wonder if I shouldn't just mod weapons for them and put them in the stash or hand down guns that I've outgrown but loved on my dev.

I like playing the pyromancer but her healing mechanic is the most frustrating. And sadly the trait that allows you to heal off of burn is much higher in the tree. (I think it comes near the end of the tree so you will be mostly done with the campaign by then) I also worry about the pyro fighting the boss because of the element type.

One of the mods I love is hot blood. Many other streamers have pushed people towards fireworks but hot blood I feel is better. They are the same except for a few things, hot blood triggers on enemies 50% hp and applies burn in an area. Fireworks triggers on death and does raw damage in an area.

I've also found that I like a mod that triggers hp regen on hit over weapon life leech. Not that I would complain if I had both and one is an attribute so it doesn't take a mod slot.

My last tip? Dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, learn to love it. You will get pinned and it is the only thing that will save you. You will need it when you fight the first boss. It will save you from the chargers when you are stuck reloading.

Oh and I would make sure to make yourself some nice pistols with life leech or the mod with regen for the boss. It is spongy enough to empty clips of both weapons and there is no restock crate. You will get some ammo from minion kills but, yeah that's a trickle ;P

Being booted from a game because of server going down while solo, then being stuck at the Start Game screen and be forced to CTRL-ALT-DLT to close down is extremely bad design.

Only positive is that I had to cut my free time short this morning anyway and am getting compensated tomorrow.

They always show up on the radar first. So keep an eye on that and you won't be surprised.

Honestly i've found the pistols exceptionally underwhelming. I never have a need to use. The only times i have was to do achievements and/or picked up a new one and wanted to see how it performs.

yeah, i'm trying to train myself to watch the radar like i do with other games. They dont get the red markers above them until you see them but i do notice the radar dots if I look up there. Maybe I have a crazy pistol, but when I use it, it does good damage and causes most enemies to stagger long enough for me to move or switch back to another weapon.

They have infinite ammo though. I am guessing that perhaps a shotgun would have worked well against the first boss but I don't typically like many of the shot guns in this game so I don't carry them around. The revolver does pretty decent damage and is quick despite having a small clip. It was my main weapon on the third (and successful) attempt to defeat the first boss.

Otherwise, pistols are largely underwhelming.

Servers are currently flat out busted. Not the best Day 1 launch. Im a huge fan of the game, but Im disappointed.

The load times after failing the Molten Acari are excruciating.

You must not be on an SSD?
They aren't bad at all for me. Certainly not Battletech bad by any stretch.

How DARE you?!?

Not on a SSD (base PS4)!

The load times for Battletech prevented me from playing. They are inexcusable and especially so when you consider the rogue like elements and difficulty of that game.

K I keep effing up the final phase of the molten acari and it’s annoying having to go through it all over again. This boss fight is also dragging down my tier 6 progress big time.

Game also crashed on the last reload and now I’m back in server authentication hell.

Until you get to end game, I don't think it is worth working on WT. 5 is tough enough with 6 being near impossible. If you want the challenge, sure, but expect to die a lot until you have a bunch of legendary gear and are max level.

It is sad but I am pretty much going to avoid playing this over the weekend as much as it pains me. I haven't had a lot of problems other that the disappearing UI and 2 disconnects. But I know others are having problems and it is only going to get worse once the influx of players happens on the weekend.

Is my techno build that broken? Because I’m three tapping most captains with a rifle at level 17 WT6. Haven’t found it to be all that difficult solo other than when my toxic bullets are on cool down, then enemies are spongier

They actually show up before they're on the board to shoot or do abilities on them. Lot of times I'm having to spam the button waiting for them to show up even though they're on the radar.

Couple of boss fights i did lower the WT to 5 to save the WT progression.

It's still a matter of gear. Each level of gear is a significant boost to damage. I was cruising on WT8 and around 3/4 through the game i entered a zone and the game said f*ck you and added a new wrinkle to the mobs. Even at T5 i was getting destroyed due to it. Right before my next pass through i looked through my gear and equipped a green AR that i normally would've trashed, but it was a 3k+ boost to my other weapons. I did the zone again and just breezed through it.

Gear>Build Matters

Anyone know if there's going to be a concept for build sets within our inventory like Diablo or Division or are we going to have to make multiple characters of the same class to swap between builds?

Create and level an entire extra character for gear loadouts? I thought people were using extra Division characters for multiple chances at drops?

I don’t think I’ve played a game that kills off characters as fast as it introduces them. So far there only 5 characters in the log that aren’t dead.

I forget the name for it in Division, but in Diablo it's called the Armory. You're able to assign gear/build loadouts like 4 or 5 times. So depending on what you want you swap between them.

In Outriders yea you could do it manually, but it would be a pain in the ass keeping everything organized and it would take a lot of time to swap things around.
