Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

I completed my first diamond painting!

I've also been working on a beaded cross-stitch of an owl at midnight (because it's called Midnight Owl) but I've recently run out of two colors, so once I get everything else done (to make sure there are no other colors) I will contact the company of the kit to send more and then start my next diamond painting!

Very nice!

The winter storm that had at one point been forecast to dump 5' (yes, feet) of snow where I live ended up leaving about 1'. A foot of snow isn't really a big deal; five times that would have wrecked a lot of things. We still ended up with disruption throughout the state but all within a normal range.

Visiting Scotland is definitely on my bucket list.

It’s so gorgeous and different areas have their own individual feel and charm.

My random love is that the word Lossuck came unbidden to my mind. I suddenly wasn’t sure if it was an actual word even though my family use it. I looked it up and it seems like it’s part of the northern dialect. It means to lounge about. I.e. I spent the afternoon lossucking in front of the TV. From the spelling you might be wondering about the pronunciation. We pronounce it ‘lozuk.’

Spotify added a feature to filter liked songs by genre. Very nice!

I don't know if we have a specific Taskmaster thread anywhere, but the new series (11) started yesterday, and despite me only having heard of one contestant (Lee Mack from WILTY) it's already looking really good. MIke Wozniak is immediately my favourite, which his song about prawns being wrong'uns and his slightly odd, but amiable energy

I am fully behind Mike Wozniak for this he is both funny and radiates kindly energy.

Really small thing, but I was productive today. Cleanup around the house, dishes, and my actual job as well. I've been in a fugue/funk for a few days and pushed myself on this and somewhat happy with it.

Also bought a set of a lock picks to learn and its been fun. Just need more locks to pick.

We have a year old tablet with a smashed screen (thanks Mini-Sorb) that, probably due mostly to lockdown ennui, I decided to attempt to repair myself. A couple of eBay purchases later, quite a lot of time watching YouTube videos and improvisation later (who needs a heat pad when you’ve got a hair drier?!) I had a dismantled tablet and a new screen that was refusing to turn on. Dammit.

Cue some more forum searching, a new LCD flex cable and copious amounts of swearing, this morning I tried disconnecting the battery and letting the motherboard shed any residual charge before putting it all back together again.

To my - and Mrs Sorb and Mini-Sorb’s - complete astonishment, it worked. Fully functional screen, some photos back we’d thought we’d lost etc.

Now I’ve just got to stick it all back together again!

Yay! I replaced a broken screen on a tablet (thanks mini-mix), and it works, but the colors are wonky, like all the red is missing.

There is an oddly fun youtube channel on this. It is mostly how to defeat expensive unbreakable bike locks and such but there are a few videos on lock picks. There are some really clever mechanics in locks to defeat pickers and even more cleverness of how the picker picks them.

Lock pick lawyer could make a full length movie with his videos. Even the short ones. I could watch for days.

Bought two new lights for the front of the house. I showed my son the first one, and he did the second unassisted.

Good to know I didn't screw everything up!

I'd run out of three colors of floss on the beaded cross stitch I was working on and they came in the mail yesterday from the company who created the pattern and kit, so today I have finally completed my Midnight Owl!

Nice one, the blue really pops!

That is really nice, Bekkilyn!

I really, really love the fact that a piece of the original Wright Flyer is on Mars, and will be on the first Martian flight. Hats off to whoever thought of that. What an incredible thing.

Gotta confuse those alien archeologists somehow.

Oh wow, Paula Vaughan. That's a name I haven't heard in a while. I used to have some of her patterns back before I got rid of everything! Yes, it is a possibility for me to do something of hers i the future.

I was busy at work, and my son left a voicemail telling me he just wanted to say he beat Bowser in Super Mario Odyssey.

Where did you buy from? I've been thinking about a prebuilt.

Dell. I wanted to get something that I could upgrade a few years down the road, but eventually I realized that I will just end up getting a new computer instead, so I decided a Dell I won't be able to upgrade was fine.

Dude...
