NCAA Basketball 20-21 Catch-All

Quite an effort in the second half for Baylor. I wasn't sure they were gonna salvage anything after the poor shooting in the first half, but they absolutely hounded Villanova defensively and took control.

I did see some comments on twitter that Villanova should have been up more in the first half when Baylor was struggling. I guess they were right. Oh well.

Oral Roberts still leading as we near halftime. Wonder if they will hold on...

I can't be sad about Villanova losing. They played a heck of a game, considering the personnel deficit they were under.

I'm not sure if Oral Roberts can keep up the pace, but they are definitely playing like a team with something to prove.

Damn, another good game for Oral Roberts, just not quite enough to close it out. Surprisingly good look for bringing the ball the length of the court with 3.1 seconds.

Arkansas comes back from 10+ down the 5th game in a row. Jeez

Houston's defense just completely shut down Syracuse at almost every level. I went to bed at half time, figuring there was next to no path forward. From what I saw this morning, this was an entirely accurate prediction!

Today's tests should be interesting.

Wow Memphis State wins the NIT. Not the championship Penny Hardaway wanted, but it's something.

Congrats to Memphis, post season wins are better than losses and/ or not playing!

Meanwhile, Gonzaga is just steamrolling Creighton. A 27 point lead with 4:42 to go.

Dominating first half for Michigan. Not used to seeing FSU get scored on at will.

Continued in the second.. I thought they might have a shot when they cut the lead to 5, but well. Not so much.

And that was without Livers. Impressive to say the least.

UCLA strong finish to the half

Cards destroy Ducks 60-42. Dana Evans ties career high 29. Louisville vs Stanford Tues night for the final four.

Wow, that was a heck of a sequence to send the UCLA/Alabama game to OT!

UCLA was definitely the better team in OT. Pac-12 still rolling. From first four to elite 8.

FTs.

Yep. Can't often go 11/25 from the line and expect to win a close game. Bad look for Alabama.

USC absolutely running Oregon ragged so far. If it doesn't change much, I'll probably punt and head for bed.

Yeah the end of the Texas Maryland women's game was better than this Oregon USC. Good night all.

We looked like crap yesterday. Did everything we could to hand Michigan the game. It’s like we were Dr Feelgood handing out Adderall at an ADD party. Our defense was not great but having the offense hand the ball over as many times as they did guaranteed that we were going to lose.

I was hoping for FSU from last year and instead got it from 3-4 years ago. We need smarter guard play and didn’t get it. Just reminds me how great our team was last year.

To be fair, it was another instance of Michigan playing a fantastic game as much as it was an instance of FSU having a bad one. They were definitely ready to go, and FSU just... wasn't. I also think a lot of those early foul calls took some wind out of FSU's sails, and made them more tentative down the line.

I’d believe that more if FSU hadn’t gone 5-4 down the stretch with tons of turnovers.

Once I calm down, I’ll be really happy for a team that made it to the sweet sixteen after graduating a ton of talent to the NBA and we are (in theory a football school).

Sure, I feel you. UNC didn't exactly cover themselves in glory down the stretch, despite being one of those losses you lament. I also think that FSU has transitioned from a football school to a basketball school. The success has been more consistent on that side for the past several years.

Regarding tonight's first contest, I think Cinderella's slipper no longer fits. Houston is just crushing Oregon St at every facet of the game.

Man, Baylor-Arkansas tipping at 10PM Eastern makes it hard to stay up and watch.

As an actual basketball school... Louisville would probably trade all our recent football success against FSU (maybe even the Lamar gameday 63-20 beatdown) for some basketball tournament appearances in 2018 and 2021.

1 tournament win in 4 seasons now is brutal.

So Oregon St made a nice push in the second half to make a real game out of it. Houston wins, but it wasn't the roflstomp that the first half suggested it would be

I watched the end of Baylor-UConn women and then flipped back to see Oregon St tie it up.

The women's game was a travesty BTW. UConn mugged Baylor on final shot with 3 or 4 seconds left, no call. And they had just called fouls on 2 drives by the same player the 2 previous possessions. But when it counted, they let it go.

Baylor vs Houston should be fun

Well damn. Can we start the 9/10 pm games already?

Gonzaga and South Carolina are both up 20 in the first halves. Over.

Yeah, for real. Not much likely to happen in either case.

Go Cardinals, beat the Cardinal.

At least Carl will be on my side tonight.

As expected, Gonzaga rolls. One spot in the final four remaining... Michigan or UCLA?
