Fork it! We need a thread for The Good Place (Spoilers!)

"Not available in your geography" - not actually findable anywhere else.

Eh, I watched them. They're fine, it's cute, but no huge loss.

Plus y'all get The Good Place on Netflix rather than a separate subscription service. So, y'know, tradeoffs.

Holy Mother Forking Shirtballs!

Season 4 starts tonight!

Just finished my rewatch on Netflix a few min ago. Damn that s3 finale was emotional. But I love where they are setup for the final season.

Unless you're watching on Hulu, apprently. We have to wait until tomorrow.

Tonight was definitely a part 1. Feels like it needs another 20 minutes.

Also a little worried at the end...

Spoiler:

Janet and Michael going off screen for a moment when we know there's a Vicky in a Michael costume out there. Seems early but that's definitely going to come into play sometime.

Am I the only one who fell out of my chair laughing at the demons song at the end of the meeting? S4 ep1

Well that was a hell of a thing tonight.

One more episode? That almost felt like a closer.

Final episode is double-length, too.

We haven't heard from Sean since he was smashing everything. I feel like he (or Vicky) is going to make an appearance.

I would have been very happy with that being the series finale but I’m quite curious how they will actually close it out. “Whenever you’re ready...” seems to clearly imply to me the characters will have their “true” death but I guess I’ll find out in a few days.

So sad. So good. Oh wow.

Every show should do a live cast thing after. That was a really nice touch and helped say goodbye.

What a lovely end.

Thinking it over ... yea I think this is my favorite ending to any TV show ever. Can't think of what would top it.

You'd have to have the right chemistry within the cast. It was clear that these folks really like each other and enjoyed working together. Based on entertainment tabloids, I can't imagine the train wreck that would have been, say, a Castle live cast reunion.

A friend of mine posted that they basically sobbed through 90 minutes. I had PVRd it, but not watched it until last night, and so I was like, "Well, they can get a little emotional, so I'll take that with a grain of salt" (despite knowing myself well enough to admit that I can cry at TV or a movie at the drop of a hat.) I started crying about 15 minutes in, and did so on and off through the whole episode.

Brilliant.

That tear rolling down Janet's (D'Arcy's) cheek as Michael (Ted) toasted her.

It was good.

Yup. Stuck the landing. Oddly, I felt the way about the landing the way all of them eventually did about leaving. A warm sensation of contentment. They told the story they wanted to tell, and got out at a good time. The wave returns to the sea (glad some Eastern philosophy made it in there at the end, I didn't realize it was largely missing until the finale).

That last episode was a touching hour-long advertisement for euthanasia.

This is one of the few series where my thought immediately after the ending was "I need to own that whole series permanently."

Also a great argument for conceptualizing shows as a complete thing with a beginning, middle, and end, and not forcing them to keep going beyond that.

I agree one of the best shows and show endings. They really knocked it out of the park and sold the end. The final moment caught me by surprise as we didn't know they did the cast after show so I thought there was 20 minutes more when Michael was keeping it sleazy.

Me to the bf: Have you watched the last Good Place yet?

Bf: Yes, I did, I did many cries

Me: Screw emotion, the judge was wearing an East Dillion Lions t-shirt!

Bf: Oh, I didn't notice through the TEARS

Think we took different things away from the show

Season 4 finally made it to Netflix.

That was great.

No more words. Too many tears.

The music you want to listen to after the final episode is called "Spiegel im Spiegel". There's a lovely recording by Nicola Benedetti on Spotify

I just finished this up and agree with everything here. What a wonderful show, what a great ending, so fine.

I do feel they tossed in a bit much towards the end - Brent for one never really served much purpose except to maybe show any random human can get better - but overall I can't imagine a better ending.
