Outriders - Catch All

Having now played every class through the demo I can say if the reviews are good I will buy. I had two crashes but overall a lot of fun.

All classes were fun and now I have four characters with decent starting gear. The start is very rough when you lack powers/weapons. However once I get one good gun and some cool gear it got fun.

Trickster and devastator were my most fun followed by pyromancer and technomancer.

Coming to GamePass for Xbox and mobile on launch day.

Well crap, did not see that coming as I already preordered with GMG. Meh, I will get $40 out of it.

It's not on GamePass for PC. It's console and mobile only for now. I had the same reaction.

Thanks for that. Hot take without reading the fine print, my bad.

None of the messaging is clear and I had to read several different sites and articles. The closest definitive I can find is an update in an IGN article. I'm confident it's not coming to GamePass for PC at launch.

Xbox has confirmed that Outriders will join Xbox Game Pass for console (and Android devices via Xbox Cloud Gaming) on its launch day. It doesn't appear to be coming to Game Pass for PC, however.

If only I could get games on the PC gamepass to work rather than the random assortment of some that work and others that won't launch.

I can’t seem to find info on the global release time for this. Hoping it’ll be similar to the Demo and drop at noon EST.

I’ve also been anxiously refreshing my GMG purchase page waiting for the key to show up!

Yea i assume it will be the same. It prevents vpn shenannigans. 12 days!

Bunch of new information out regarding the launch. Midnight April 1st for consoles, Global Release of 12pm EST, April 1st for PC. They're still working on Preload options for Steam which seems super weird to me but I guess it is what it is.

Nice, I'll get Thursday night and, as a birthday present, 4 hours on the morning of the 2nd. Won't get to touch it again until the Sunday, though.

Pre-ordered through GMG. Hoping for a pre-load for Steam but we will see if they can make it work.

GMG key came through today. 46GB Steam preload is nice for a fully featured release!

Able to pre-load too.

Same. GMG pre-order, got key and now pre-loading...

Am I dumb for having an itch to start over? I have all 4 classes at level 7 with good to great gear but I kinda want to go through that experience again. I worry a little that I will be OP for the first few levels of content that is unlocked at launch.

Fine I will buy the game.

I am not too worried about being op at launch as once you get one more tier I think you will get more gear with bigger numbers.

No I am considering the same

Or we are both dumb?

I thought I saw something where the developer said that they took the level 7 demo players into account.
*edit* Not quite what I thought, but it seems to imply that like as long as you were not doing insane farming you will be aok.

We would like to issue a explanatory note of caution before getting into the changes: While we have balanced the main game with a certain progression system, this progression may be impacted by heavy farming of gear and/or mods in the demo. As some players are front-loading a lot of that progression (such as by trying to fill their mod library or acquire multiple Legendaries) within the demo content already, their experience of parts of the main game may well be impacted.

Of course, it's every player's decision how to play the game for themselves and we do not want to prevent people from farming the demo for gear if they enjoy it. However, we would like to ensure that this process is not overly simplistic, easy or prone to exploitation.
What's changing?

Changes to Captains

The Captain mob ability "Healing Light" will have its effectiveness reduced.
The Captain mob ability "From the Ashes" and "Phoenix Aura" will have their cooldowns increased.
Some players were finding it hard to fully kill Captains who would trigger these abilities, making for a frustrating rather than a challenging but fun encounter.

Changes to Gauss
Gauss will have his health points increased for repeat playthroughs.
This is to ensure that he remains fun and challenging for players who are overpowered at this point in the story.
Gauss healing from his ability "Steel Wall" will be increased.

Changes to loot drops
While we do not want to prevent farming runs (We get it!), the lootcave discovered via the triple chest-run, as well as the store exploit, do not feel to be within the spirit of the game. To that end, we are redirecting farming efforts to mechanics in the game that may be more enjoyable for players to play through and repeat.

Epic items will no longer appear in shops and vendors (within the demo).
Chests will no longer drop legendary items.
Side quest rewards (on repeat runs) will now have a chance to drop legendary items.

[[[EDIT- March 6th:

Update Regarding Chests Dropping Legendaries in the Outriders Demo:

Having listened to very reasonable community feedback, we have enabled the Gauss boss chest to drop Legendaries again as we should indeed be rewarding boss runs.

Other chests still cannot drop Legendaries.]]]

Even folks who did massive farming and got tons of legendaries, it all means f*ck all in the larger scheme of the game as a whole. The only way to take advantage of them at later levels requires crafting and we have next to no mats at this point for the crafting. There 5 more world tiers... even with legendaries you're not even remotely close to being OP.

Ah so the real impact will be from being able to have a stockpile of mods from legendaries gathered from the demo. (as per the dev post)

@ran - I was thinking overpowered for the next few hours of the campaign. I know end game is a long ways away and there are many levels and tiers of gear beyond what we can currently get. I was just worried that I would face roll my way to level 12 or 15 or so and then either hit a wall or find some semblance of balance.

On a side note, Division 2 is a really good game. I don't know why I bounced off it around the early teens but it is scratching an itch for another day. The guns are good and varied. The game is much easier than I remembered. I dunno if that is the faster pacing of Outrider's combat that has ramped up my twitch skills. (sadly nowhere near what they used to be)

The bigger open world lent itself to frustration trying to reach safe houses and dying. I recall that is one of the reasons why I lost interest. There was a lot of running around trying to find mission entrances. In spite of all that, Div2's game world is amazing.

I thought there are 15 world tiers in total. So 10 more past the demo. Given what they've shown of end-game legendaries and the damage numbers (400,000+ on some guns) I definitely can only see my maxed OP technomancer build being viable for maybe 2-3 more levels before I'm just not getting enough damage through put.

I know everyone loves the Trickster and Devastator but they really didn't click for me. I haven't even max levelled either of them. Maybe I didn't have the right mods on my gear but it just all felt like a chore to manage CD's whereas sniping with the Technomancer just feels GOOD.

Technomancer like i mentioned previously had the highest burst potential with their skills than the other classes i played. I didn't have to rely on my weapons as much with it than i did the others. Probably due to the mods i had.

Still when i determined i was going to stick with Trickster as my main i didn't commit to farming like i did with the others. I didn't allow myself to die instantly when killing a captain. I instead lived and made it where i raised my world tier to just shy of being leveled up again. So the first mission i do at launch i'll instantly jump up a tier.

Rogue classes are my thing. At first I did not like the trickster. I played every class then swapped around. Then I got some new guns and mods for the trickster for twisted rounds and using the blade two times. Now trickster is my main and I did farm mods for that class.

Yeah finding an upgraded gun and equipment definitely helps. It's the mods that get me very excited for this game as well. Being able to teleport to enemies, blinking out of something, having the opportunity to use a skill 2 or more times etc..so many different ways to customize your skills for your playstyle!

I’m going to start over. I like the slow progression of a game rather than trying to farm and be very powerful early-on.

Hehe, it's not just the two of you, I am thinking the same. I haven't even farmed the demo, my reasoning for restarting is that I didn't really pay attention to character creation options when I was creating characters and most of them are very random. I don't want to play a fugly character for the rest of the game.

OTOH, IIRC character creation is pretty limited anyway. By the way, will the full game have more options?

There is a station in game that lets you customize your character's look for free. It lets you change anything you did during character creation.

CohhCarnage (and a bunch of other streamers) is streaming this on twitch today a day early if anyone wants to get a look at what the post-demo game is like.

This should wet everyone's appetite a bit more.
Weapon customizations: swap variant, raise level, raise rarity, swap a mod (only 1 per weapon even if it has 2 mods), raise attributes... so much zomg awesome sauce:
