Is 2021 too late to try Skyrim free on game pass?

I'm still grinding with my boy on Warthunder. So many games added on game pass recently.

Its never to late for Skyrim but it can't mod the game pass. Basic game is still fun though

If you're on PC, yeah, no mods. On the console, it does support mods in-game, and gets a 60fps boost on the Series X. IMAGE(https://emojipedia-us.s3.dualstack.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/thumbs/240/microsoft/209/woman-running-type-4_1f3c3-1f3fd-200d-2640-fe0f.png)

I was under the impression that it DID support mods on PC, but that some of the bigger ones that rely on skse won't work unless/until someone updates skse to work with the Gamepass binary.

Yes, though even some of the ones that don't rely on skse also won't work. Apparently even mods that alter existing game files (like video replacers) have run into problems, but not all files replacing mods.
If it has access to the Bethesda mods site through the main menu screen, then all of those should work. The "enable modding" option is meant for mods from other sources, the game should allow mods.bethesda mods without it. The team behind skse is looking into whether they could get it working on the gamepass version, but aren't making any promises.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is $20 at walmart for ps4 and xbox.

Half-Life: Alyx is 40% off on Steam through Mar. 31.

I have an HTC Vive from 2017. Is HL:A enjoyable on older VR gear?

Of Orcs and Men is $1.50 on steam. Play as a couple of orcs that need to assassinate the emperor. I'm not sure if they are named George and Lenny.

I bought it. I'll report back on playability once my teenage boys provide their unvarnished appraisal.

My understanding is that gear is mostly about
* screen resolution/contrast
* fps
* controller tracking fidelity

I have an oculus quest so it's good enough, but my PC's graphics card is a 960 GTX 2GB from 2015, which can't handle VR resolutions. I can't upgrade my video card because chip shortages are ridiculous, so I'm limited to native oculus games for now unless I want a headache fast.

I played about 1/2 of it on the first generation Oculus Rift. I thought it looked and played great. The biggest issue was that two trackers weren't enough for how much spinning you do.

Entirely, yes.

Assuming your GPU will cut it. My aging 1070 manages it, so it's not a super high bar to clear.

Creature in the Well is free on Epic this week.

Completely agree :)

Next week it'll be Tales of the Neon Sea

Nice Remote Play Together games sale on steam. I've played a lot of the simpler couch co-op games with my wife and brother in law and they work really well over remote play together.

A few I recommend that are on sale:

Unrailed
Out of Space
Heave Ho (hilarious!)
Unspottable
Bonkies

If you want something a bit more challenging check out Joggernauts. Basically multiplayer coop bit.trip.runner.

There are a lot of beat-em-up style couch coop games, but my wife isn't into those. The above list fall more in the vein of Overcooked and have given us many hours of entertainment during pandemic playing with others over remote play.

If you want a bit more of a cautionary tale I wasn't blown away by Brunch Club, Shakes on a Plane, Abracadabrew or Catastronauts.

If anyone has any recommendations though please let me know! Remote Play Together is a great feature.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is awesome coop couples fun!

Here are a few recommendations from the Remote Play Together sale:

For The King
Golf With Your Friends
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Jackbox Games

Digital Boardgames:
Tabletop Simulator
Handelabra Digital Tabletop Collection (inc Spirit Island, Aeon's End, One Deck Dungeon)
Acram Digital Games (inc Istanbul, Steam, Charterstone)

+1 for Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, can't believe I forgot that one!

I bought lovers. How well does it do if 1-2 of the players are littles that may or may not get bored and wander off rather than actively play?

Edit: and by play I mean for the most part wander aimlessly hitting random buttons on the controller.

Not great.

Not great.

It's a technical coop game in the way that Overcooked requires coordination and not just "cooking for fun".

ibb & obb is not on sale but it is one of the best co-op games I've ever played.
Castle Crashers is a great chill beat-em-up.
From the same studio, BattleBlock Theater is a hilarious and relatively hard but not impossible platformer.
Charlie Murder is another great beat-em-up. It has a bit of a dark theme, but it's really fun to play.
Human Fall Flat is my favorite ragdoll physics game, although you'll have to play split screen.
Broforce is ridiculous fun.
Assault Android Cactus is a very good twin stick shooter.

I've yet to find a game where my mediocre skills can carry my littles and everyone has a lot of fun. Nine Parchments came the closest, and even then I needed to drag the spousal unit in to assist on the toughest bosses. She doesn't have a ton of patience for incompetent teammates, so it's not a long-term solution. I may introduce my youngest to rock band next week though.

Thanks for all the input! Good to know. Date-nights only.
Edit to update: Showed the game to my Coop buddy and played for a few minutes. We looked at each other and decided to refund. We value our marriage.

One of my favorites. But I've never had a reliable partner that wanted to work puzzles with me. My dad is the only one who seemed to enjoy it as much as me but he's 7 hours away.

I played it once with VR. Really cool that way, but even harder to get a group for.

I loaded my copy of it for a demo with our Digital Learning Consultants (our media department has couple of Oculus headsets for checkout). A room of six engaged professionals looking for ways to get kids hyped about learning. An absolute blast. I've never been able to duplicate that experience.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes convinced me that Morse code is, in fact, an elaborate prank that the world is playing on me.

Cozy Couch Co-Op Bundle

Talking of co-op games and adding in a bit of social deception & survival...
Project Winter + DLC is a huge 79% off (£4.24 / approx $6) over on Green Man Gaming - Project Winter: Blackout Bundle

I've had a lot of fun playing this game.

I just mentioned on the Project Winter thread that my friends have been playing it regularly! Good times.

Edit: It's on Xbox Gamepass, FYI. And it's crossplay.

Octopath Traveler is the lowest I've seen it at 59% off. I have VIP status at Greenman Gaming so for others it may just be 50% off. But at 59% off, I had to grab it

Still waiting on my Outriders pre-order key

Octopath is also on Gamepass PC now.

Even better!
