NCAA Basketball 20-21 Catch-All

The Lord told me to tell you all to give me six million dollars or Arkansas will defeat Oral Roberts University, thank you.

Here comes Cade!

Lots of high seeds headed to the sweet sixteen! Oregon state just sort of justified their stolen bid.

Oregon going for 100!

Big 10 sucking. Love it

Indeed. I was thinking the same thing.

Of course, this happens every year. One conference gets lauded as the country's best and ends up with lots of seeds and then flames out bad in the first/2nd rounds. Happens to the ACC a lot. Heh.

I've seen more of this year's tournament than I have in the past 15 years due to working remotely. It's been a fun one. Notables include my Beavers having a really gutsy team and now Oregon running basically a warmup line against Iowa.

WFH has helped me see a lot more of the games - secondary browser window open to one or more of the concurrent games on the 1st and 2nd days. Bummed the Tarheels got blown out, but there are a couple of ACC teams left. Failing those folks, I might pull for Gonzaga, since they've never won it all.

At some point someone is going to say "Wow the Pac-12 is good" right? If this was SEC football Cal, who's 3-17 in conference and actually lost to Oregon State 3 times (due to COVID scheduling, one loss was non-conference), and each loss was by less than Okalhoma State or Tennessee, would be the #6 team in the country right now.

Fed would be pounding BCS drum if A&M had a chance to lose to Alabama 3 times in a season.

/insert rodney dangerfield meme

What a BS flagrant 1 at the end of the game by Elijah Harkless. Completely uncalled for. Barely a play on the ball, but a push from behind to send Suggs across the baseline. Gross.

I'm not sure what a BCS drum is - I did own a drum set that I sadly lost in my friend's divorce. No BCS drum anywhere in that kit, though.

Anyway, Carl, if you Cal guys got a better education you'd know we do have the chance to lose to Bama 3 times in one season; it would have happened, too, if we didn't have so many covid cancellations, and then met up with them in the conference tournament.

Speaking of tournaments, the Aggie Women are in their first game right now, currently 8 points up on 15 seed Troy. We're playing in Austin at the longhorn's arena, garish court decorations all over my screen. Hey, if we can win here, we can win anywhere!

I'm talking about Football! (I know wrong thread). Imagine if you were 9-3 but all 3 of those losses were to Alabama! You thought A&M should have been in the Playoffs (is that what they're called? Sorry we only care about the Rose Bowl out here) because your loss to Alabama was so good! Imagine 3 losses?! That would be like going undefeated in the Pac- and both Big-'s!

You guys can take this silly football nonsense to some other thread! We're just here to talk about all the basketball!

What is this "you guys" nonsense? I'm only talking basketball. You're hurtin' feelin's here.

Ags up 14 at the half.

I'm just sitting back watching the Pac-12 bring in more money for the conference. Those teams do all the hard work while Cal gets to collect revenue. Socialism at its finest. (I keed I keed)

Mmhmm.. I'm watching you!

[Says the person without any authority whatsoever]

Gig 'Em, Aggies!

Did the refs rescue Michigan? Some questionable calls the last 6 minutes or so

Maybe. They hit a lot of shots in the final 4 min. Some bad decisions from LSU too.

After some back and forth, FSU brought the A game in the second half.

Cards women rolled by 30. Good stuff.

Missed most of Maryland watching that but looks like big 10 is down to just Michigan.

And at the half, USCw is killing Kansas. Pac 12.

The Pac12 has been nearly unstoppable. Lots of games won unexpectedly. FSU handled Colorado today, but I think that's the only loss?

USC looking tough out there. Kansas can't throw it in the ocean!

Damn. I only did like 6 brackets this year. Without Louisville, I wasn't feeling the usual need to do a ton, and have variants with them winning just in case.

But I have 2 brackets in the 99.4% at ESPN. Both in 95,234 place out of however many tens of millions. Both with 10 of the sweet 16. One with Gonzaga winning, one with Michigan winning.

And yeah, one of those is in the GWJ group, hehe. And that's the Gonzaga one, and it's the first one I filled out... my gut bracket, if you will.

I would actually have a perfect West bracket, except I picked the wrong 8/9 winner. Yeah, I have 1, 5, 6, 7 in Gonzaga's regional. Yes I picked 13 Ohio over Virginia. And my East bracket also only has one miss, Abilene. I got 1, 4, 11, 2. Yeah.

Now, the other side is a disaster. I picked Illinois and Texas Tech (so close, 2 points). So I won't be winning any big prize. But maybe the group. We'll see.

The Michigan one has a lot more possible points. Arkansas-Villanova is my elite 8. I still picked Illinois so the midwest is screwed. And in that one I had both Texas and Virginia in S16. But just got more right on the other side. If I could somehow mesh the two.... haha. Or just pluck the one bracket where I actually picked Houston instead of Illinois, maybe. I should have had more faith in Loyola. Picked them for first game everywhere but never over Illinois. I saw them play 2x in the regular season and should have remembered. Should have checked their KenPom numbers and realized how good they really are. Oh well, just for fun, not money I guess.

I'll try to kick off the Sweet 16 second chance group in the morning. Although if you were in it before can probably rejoin too. Will check tomorrow.

Unbelieveable win for the Ags in OT! Iowa State shot like 300% from the arc and led for 95% of the game. I am beyond hyped!

Yeah... The refs swallowed their whistles the final couple minutes and let the higher seed win. As a casual hoops fan enjoying a competitive game, it sucked.

Wow looking at Saturday's games, none of the 4 has a line closer than 6 right now.

Obviously I totally disagree, and what a rotten killjoy thing to say!

The refs had two massive chances to swing the game our way in the end and didn't: the loose ball knocked out of bounds, where the Iowa State player reached for it and on one replay, definitely appeared to touch it, and the tie ball where the State player swung her elbows and hit our player in the face.

She 100% did not touch that ball. You can tell because the spin of the ball didn't change at all. That was clear from every angle of replay.

And besides that was in overtime. I'm talking about the last possession of regulation where Iowa St was fouled 2 or 3 times and not called. Or the couple of possessions before that. Or another with about 2 minutes left. Any of those blatant fouls is called and the comeback never happens and the team that was the better team for the first 40 minutes wins like they should have.

Don't worry, Stele, I was once a soulless, joy-murdering nincompoop, oblivious to my own misery and why I was trying to spread it to others - but there is hope! One can grow. Hell, I haven't even posted the Bill Self choking meme in years, and this year... But I digress.

Anyway, there's hope, is what I'm saying. Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.

Like 20(?) hours to still sign up and join us.

Well... PAC 12 wins again. Bye Loyola.
