Weekly Drawing Prompt Thread

So this is just tangentially related but I put one of my old portrait drawings through that Myheritage.com deepfake app and holy sh*t it worked REALLY WELL.

I can't stop watching this on a loop.

Can't embed here actually, but here's a link to it on my twitter..

That looks crazy cool!

It's nutty how great that looks.

I bet the fuzzy bits on the edges would go away if there was detail in the background layer. Probably the ML isn't quite sure what to do with the flat color?

actually it mostly works best with a flat background i've found. i tried it with a couple that had more detailed backgrounds and the effect wasn't quite as good. Same goes for anything with more hair out to the sides and the like.

It's crazy how effective deep fakes are. Unfortunately it can be used against people pretty easily now.

H is for Harley Quinn!

Also, here's my "pointless tool." I'm having such a productive morning!

I like that one a lot

Thanks! I had a lot of fun drawing it.

I is for... Irina Spalko, from the much maligned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I also like that one.

For my part, I struggled a bit for inspiration for "pointless tool", so in the end I just threw together something rather abstract:

Maybe it's some kind of orrery... thing?

Totally an orrery! I like its weirdness.

And thanks!

More fan art: J is for Jessica Jones!

I'll get to "bad hunter" soon!

Great pic but if I could give one critique, the fist on the left looks more like a stump because of the angle. You might wanna work on showing more of the lower arm or changing the lines on the fist to imply the fingers more. (or just a little more of the elbow)

It totally looks like a stump!

Here's my "bad hunter!"

So I, uh, started on 'Bad Hunter' and got sidetracked, and ended up drawing something other than I meant? And now it's Monday, so I'll just post what I've got?

I meant to draw a hunter stalked by a snake (much like Mario's!), but instead it appears I've drawn a lady sitting by a stream and spotting the snake in its reflection. So does that make the snake the bad hunter? I guess so.

Okay, me going slightly off-brief aside, I think I need to put a bit more effort into backgrounds, or find a better way to do low-effort backgrounds when I'm running out of steam with a new drawing. And maybe recognise in advance how much effort it would be to draw a decent reflection. Or how tedious it is to draw the scales on a snake (though I know that one—I spent ages on a snake for a prompt last year!).

Well, regardless of who the bad hunter is, the picture looks awesome! I really like the lady's facial expression --she seems so startled! Her dress looks great as well. And I like the snake --no need to draw every single scale. A lot of the time, less is more!

Next is "living vehicle," so let's see what we come up with. I have a couple of ideas so far, but I want to do a couple of fan art drawings first (letters K and L). Plus, I'm working on my wedding anniversary drawing for my wife, so it looks like this week is going to be packed with art! (The best kind of week, right?)

I definitely got a bad hunter vibe from it as well but by reversing the relationship.
It seems to me if the woman was the hunter, she is doubly bad at it for several reasons:
There could be something in the water.
She has left her weapons.
She took off her shoes and got into the water before noticing the snake that she can't run away from.

It's interesting how strongly 'bad hunter' in this case correlates with 'lazy artist' . I'm sure I intended to draw a bow and a pair of boots beside her by the bank, but I seem to have neglected to do so (still bad for the woman that she put them aside to go wading, mind).

Here's my "living vehicle." I'm not sure where any of that came from...

Hahaha. Love it.

K is for Korra!

L is for Lina Inverse, from one of my favorite anime series, Slayers!

Lina (Mina) is the best!
MEGA FIYA BOWL!

Wow, I haven't thought about 'Slayers' in ages...

So for 'living vehicle' I decided to just draw one of the other player characters in one of the D&D game I'm in, a goblin ranger who always rides around on his beast companion Arlo:

Sooo, if you want a really fun time waster, try Heroforge!
Its been around for a while but I think the last time I tried it was ~2 years ago. It has come a long way:

I almost want to get a 3d printer just to print these out.

Tried to break it as much as I could. It works really well.
