Does Wabberjack work with the SE edition?

Yes.

It's Wabbajack. Wabbajack.

As in the eponymous Wabbajack which may or may not slowly turn you insane.

Thanks for the correction! Wabbajack.

I understand that Living Skyrim 3 is currently in development. No clue when it will drop, but I'm really, really looking forward to diving into Skyrim again over this upcoming holiday season.

From the LS3 roadmap doc, it is planned to be released on 2/15/2021.

Just want to come on here to promote some games made by Skyrim modders.

I can't remember what mod this guy made for Skyrim but he has now made his first big open world game
Gedonia.

Another Skyrim modder who made Moonpath to Elsweyr has made a game
Falconeer (controller only sadly)

Yesterday, Living Skyrim 3 released via Wabbajack.

Still early on after the install and character creation, but it looks and runs superbly (5900X/3080)

Actually, the installer is down right this minute because one of the mods updated, but according to their discord, this will be rectified very soon.

Dang, that looks nice.

Last weekend my daughter mentioned that her friend just started playing Skyrim for the first time (Xbox One). She asked if I had ever played Skyrim. I showed her screenshots of Steam, showing 100 and 150 hours in Skyrim and SSE, respectively. I'm half tempted to install Living Skyrim 3 and invite her friend over to take a look / blow her mind.

The High Poly head mod, and the implementation of it for NPCs as well as the player character really makes a difference to walking around the place.

One issue previously with modding Morrowind and Oblivion was that, there was only so much that could be done with the characters.

But yes, very impressed with the looks and performance so far.

So Living Skyrim is a bunch of mods packed together for easy install to improve graphics and gameplay?

It's basically Skyrim as you imagined it would be before it released. Shocking improvement in nearly all ways.

It's basically a curated list of 868 mods, that can be installed via the Wabbajack application in a few clicks (strongly recommended to have at least a month's Nexus Premium, which cost me £3.59 - this removes the download speed limit, as well as the limit on number of downloads per day, that the free membership has).

Wabbajack will download, extract and install all 868 mods, provide a customised ModOrganizer install specifically for that Modlist, and do a huge amount of the post install configuration for you.

Once it's all installed, I basically hit New Game, create my character (with the insane number of character options), then wait for a bunch of configs to be automatically applied by the game (a one-off, and takes around 3 minutes). Once those are done, there are around 5 or 6 Config changes you have to do yourself (they only work once you've created your character), but it's all done in-game via the MCM Options Menu and all very straight forward and documented.

The download takes ages, purely down to the number of mods involved, but once it's all in place, and not including the time it took me to make my character, it's like 15 - 20 mins max, from clicking Play in Mod Organizr to playing the game. Fully modded, fully ENB'd, and (so far) not a single bug, collision, missing texture, crash etc etc.

One of the great things about these modlists is that they are at least tested beforehand (Living Skyrim 3 was in Beta for a fwe months prior to this full release), and have methods for reporting bugs that you do find, so that they can be fixed and the modlist updated.

And Living Skyrim is just one modlist - there are lots to choose from in Wabbajack, all with different aims and changes. There's one that changes the graphics to look more like Borderlands. There's another 'hardcore' type, that adds the need to cook, eat, and prepare for even the simplest journey, and so on.

Nice, looks like they added a bunch a new tricks since I have been gone.

I used to run through whatever the latest S.T.E.P guide was, when returning to Skyrim.. and it always took days before being playable. I just dont have that time to dedicate now - my remaining gaming time is far too precious to spend it doing that stuff manually.

Wabbajack has been a godsend.

What’s the internet version of putting your fingers in your ears and going, “la la la la im not listening im not listening!”

That’s what I’m doing right now as I read this thread.

That’s what I’m doing right now as I read this thread.

I've been spending too much time in political / current events threads in the D&D section. I forgot what thread I was in, read this, and thought, "oh God, I must have missed something, better scroll up and see what horrible thing happened now."

I really like the idea of the WabbaJ and mod lists but I also kinda enjoy scrolling through Nexus, tinkering, adding what appeals to me. Ever since SSE and using Vortex I have had no stability issues/ctds etc. As for finiky fine tuning, I really only make a bashed patch and then run some Zedit patches and that's it.

That used to be me, too.. but I'd just much rather spend the time gaming than tinkering these days

Wow, After having a look I REALLY want to do Living Skyrim 3 but my computer is definitely not beefy enough.

I'm getting mostly 90+ in the wilderness, 120+ in dungeons and enclosed places like shops, and I've only seen on dip below 60 while in Whiterun at night, when most of the town seemed to be out in the streets, drunk and with lanterns...

But then I am very fortunate with my rig these days...

The Readme has a huge section of Performance optimisation settings though - but I think the only hard limit recommendataion is the 6GB of vRAM on your GPU...

I went to Bleakfalls Barrow.... level 4.... it was huge, and deadly... I had to turn back (once I found my way out). Time to go fight wolves or something to level up a bit.

Oh man. So exciting. How big is this download? Would a 1080 nvidia be beefy enough? Can you use a previously saved character or do you have to start from scratch?

Has to be a new character. There is a fairly substantial overhaul of the perk system, and the introduction of more standard attributes - Strength, Agility, Intelligence etc.

Heck, even characters from the beta of LS3 aren't compatible.

I'll check when next at my PC, but I think the download is about 80 -100GB and the on-disk size is about 120GB. (There are other mod lists that exceed 250GB on disk...). Strongly recommended to have both Skyrim and the mods installed on an SSD. Though the downloads folder can be anywhere of SSD space is a concern.

A 1080 might not give a perfectly smooth experience with their default settings, but they have a fairly substantial performance guide where it will guide you through which settings to change, and if needed, (for example) switch out the grass mod for a more lightweight one. You can also go with a more lightweight ENB, or even run without one, though that would lose quite a bit of what makes Skyrim still able to look so good almost 10 years after release.

For this particular modlist, I'd view it more like a movie reboot, than a remaster. It both looks fantastic, but is also changed quite a bit from the original - Which is exactly what I want, I've played vanilla Skyrim to death and beyond (even with lists like S.T.E.P, it was almost entirely graphical mods I went for).

Comparing the complexity of the few post install steps via the wabbajack install, to running through S.T.E.P manually in the past, this process is childsplay. However, if you've never modded Skyrim before (like my nephew who installed this last night), some of it may be confusing. The readme guide is fairly easy to follow, just make sure you don't skip a step by accident. They also have a really helpful discord server if you have an issue, or you can always just pm me here or on gwj discord if you need a hand!

Living Skyrim looks amazing but I am just too tech challenged to get it to work. I might run Elysium, that also looks like a great mod collection.

Edit: well I got Elysium installed with Wabbajack but it’s not playable, graphics are messed up and no sound. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but not sure what. Maybe my 2070 isn’t cutting it?

I kind of have the Skyrim itch, have not added any mods in a long time. Off to YouTube!

How closely did you follow the instructions, cause it sounds like you're missing files.

I did follow all of the steps and downloaded the missing files separately as instructed. I have a 49” ultrawide monitor and it seems like Skyrim doesn’t play well with those, wonder if that’s the issue.

So how long does it take for Living Skyrim to load up? I got it installed and launched it this morning about 6 hours ago, just checked and Skyrim SSE was fired up but still stuck on the Living Skyrim splash screen.

I didn't have that at all. First boot I had a few minutes while ENB Shader cache was built, but then it's been fine since (slower than vanilla to launch from MO, though.)

Did you just do the steps in the readme or did you also follow all the performance guide steps? I have seen people in their discord mentioning some of the steps taking hours, but didn't pay enough attention to see if it worked after all that time, or if they had to restart etc?

I didn't bother with the performance guide, other than the NVidia control panel settings.

Yeah, definitely sounds more like something missing from the install, rather than your 2070 not cutting it - usually the only thing you'd see of your GPU wasn't up to it would be lower fps or stuttering.

Is your Skyrim installed outside of Program Files? Did you do a fresh install of the base game prior to installing via Wabbajack?

Thankfully as long as you keep the wabbajack downloads folder, then the bit that takes longest can be skipped. Maybe try uninstalling Skyrim itself, and using Skyrim Shredder to make sure nothing is left behind and reinstalling via Steam outside of Program Files, then deleting the Elysium folder and re-running the install 'from disk' via wabbajack? As long as you point the downloads folder to the same place as before, then it should have everything it needs. There's usually a bunch of files you need to copy over from the Elysium folder, to the main game folder, but that would all be in their readme.

There is an ultrawide "fix" listed in the Living Skyrim docs... I don't have one so I didn't look, but maybe it's not specific to Living Skyrim and can be applied anywhere? I'll dig up the link shortly when at my PC.

Edit: Here we are: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspec...

I have a 38" curved ultrawide at 3440x1440 and Living Skyrim runs flawlessly. You definitely have to nuke everything from orbit before the install, and follow the instructions meticulously, but it's a fairly automated overall. I definitely paid attention to anything with emphasis in the instructions though, as those usually mean that the author has seen those trouble-spots many times!

I might have to start over.

I not only did a clean install of Skyrim, I have a clean install of Windows with no games installed from Steam. I installed the Steam folder outside of program files.

I find the MO2 program a little confusing. After Living Skyrim was downloaded I had multiple files flagged as needing authorization by the author or something like that. Unclear to me what is required to resolve that. After everything was installed per the instructions it just wouldn’t launch. I also tried numerous ultrawide mods just via Vortex and none of them worked.

Just not sure it’s worth it, I suspect this is going to require way more tech knowledge to dig in to than I possess! Thinking about just playing on Xbox and checking out what mods are available there. Would be fun to play on my ultrawide though!
