Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC, and Android

I played the first 15 minutes of Control on GamePass PC. It looks like a game I'm going to really enjoy. I'm waiting for them to fix it so I can continue though. For some reason a lot of players, including me, have huge texture issues. I can't read any text on walls, and most textures look like they are on the atari 2600. Can't wait.

Some friends and I have now played two sessions of the aforementioned Project Winter and had an excellent time. Many times, people have successfully escaped the wilderness, but often the traitors have at least killed some. Once, I was killed by wolves in the first two minutes of a round. Many laughs have been had.

I'm not sure how long the legs are for this game, but then, we have only been playing it on Basic mode. I feel like I can play the tabletop games from which this derives (The Resistance, Secret Hitler) all day long without getting tired, but that may be aided by being in-person with friends. In any case, this is a fun one!

Old news, I know but I've been playing State of Decay 2 on my XSX and it really holds up. Strong framerate and snappy loading times make it a great pick-up-and-play game.

What's this? I never bought POE2 and it's coming to Game Pass? Unpossible.

I gave it a spin and there's something about that just never clicks with me. Had the same problem with POE1. It's some combination of the combat, the UI, and the storyline that bugs me. I know it's going for an old school RPG feel but it doesn't scratch the same itch that Divinity did for me.

Whew... Next!

My experience with GP is about what I expected: clearly a good value but not really for me. It’s not for me for a few discrete reasons.

1. As I get older I have an unfortunate reluctance to learning new game mechanics. Spending money on a game or being part of the launch hype is often extra propulsion that I need. Being that all these games feel free, I’m super quick to drop something. Which would be fine if game sizes weren’t so out of hand. Downloading 115gb of Gears 5 or 80gb of Destiny 2 only to find out in 10 minutes that I’m still not interested is going to be financially detrimental in... August.

2. As far as the large back catalogue, it remains that if I’m interested in something, I’ve played it. Free or not, Medal of Honor Airborne isn’t lighting my fire. The exceptions are recent Xbox exclusives since I never had an Xbone.

My dud XSX doesn’t help. It almost definitely needs to go for repair.

I got 3 months with my XSX bundle and bought 3 months for a dollar so we’ll see how the rest of the 6 months go.

Xcloud streaming should be coming soon to PC. My advice for the issue with downloading a 100gb game only to find you don't like it is to stream the game first. See if you like it. If you don't like it, nothing lost, if you do like it then you can decide if you want to keep playing via stream or download a local copy. I've been doing this via my tablet and it works really well. I'm actually surprised they haven't made this available for the consoles yet, especially the Xbox S. This would really alleviate the problem with the miniscule hard drives they come with. Of course, then people wouldn't need to buy a $200 expansion so that is probably why they aren't in a hurry.

Not a PC guy. I actually don’t even own a functional laptop anymore.

It works pretty well on my tablet and even my phone but the phones not ideal due to screen size. Anyway, hopefully it is something they add as a feature on the consoles.

Yeah. My son sometimes downloads a game, deletes it, then downloads it again a few weeks later. If he could stream from the console, he would be less likely to do that I think.

I've been using xCloud streaming a lot this way. Try a game really quick on my tablet to see if I want to play more and if so download locally to Xbox or PC.

Go onnnnnnnnnnnnn??

I've actually enjoyed the tablet streaming experience, I just wish someone would make a good controller for tablets. I want to be able to sit/lay in bed and play but it's a pain to prop my tablet in my lap and use an xbox controller. Ipega makes a couple that attach to the tablet but reviews aren't great on them.

^ this.

I want something like a Switch form factor where the controller snaps onto the side of the tablet. Problem is something that small doesn't make an amazing tablet and something larger might not make a great handheld device. Also, the joycons suck compared to an Xbox controller. For phones there are things like the Razer Kishi.

A friend of mine modded his Switch to run Android specifically to try it as a streaming device for xCloud and PC game streaming apps but it never worked smoothly.

I was looking at the AYA Neo recently and thinking something slightly larger (and 1080p) could be a cool device for streaming but the price point is way too high.

Coming Soon to Xbox Game Pass: NBA 2K21, Football Manager 2021, and More

Leaving March 15
- Alvastia Chronicles (Console and PC)
- Astrologaster (PC)
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (Console and PC)
- Kona (Console)
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Console)

That's a big ol' bucket of yawn from me.

A bit to sports focused for me...

I will say, if you haven’t played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, you should give it a go if you want to experience an off-kilter Castlevania.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a Metroidvania type video game developed by ArtPlay and published by 505 Games. The game's development was led by former Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi, and is considered a spiritual successor to the series. The game is the second in the Bloodstained series.

When is EA Play coming to PC Game Pass?

I think early 2021 is the target date. I haven't seen any updates beyond that.

I'll have some dumb fun with Star Wars Squadrons, and there's a non-zero chance I'll download Madden late some night, play part of one game the next day, and then realize all over again why I stopped playing Madden years ago.

Oh man, The Witcher 3 is leaving. Bummer. I own it in PS4, but would rather play it on Xbox.

There's a group of us trying to get a weekly Saturday night session of Squadrons going, now that private games are a thing. Competence hasn't been required yet so Game Pass dabblers are more than welcome.

I'm sure it will be deep discounted soon enough. Right now, the complete edition is $39.99 digitally for Game Pass subscriber (20% of the normal $49.99).

It was $8 last month, and it seems to go on sale for $12 every month or two. You won't have to wait long.

Toss a coin, folks!

One of my friends kept singing this first line at PAX South last year, but my wife and I didn't start the show until a while later. Now I want to have a sing-along the next time I get to see him (whenever that may be).

How late this week, and what games should we await from Bethesda added to gamepass this week??

They said "stay tuned" in a different place/article, so I expect they wanted to give some space between the different news articles.
