Final Fantasy VII REMAKE Catch All

Coming to PS5 with various graphical upgrades, photo mode, quality of life enhancements, etc. Also free upgrade on PS5 if you own it on PS4.

Bigger news in some ways is a Yuffie episode taking place during the events of the game.

Also of note, the Yuffie DLC is PS5 only. Seems they built it in the upgraded engine. Also, if you do PS4 to PS5 upgrade on the core game, you still have to purchase the Yuffie DLC. Otherwise, FFVII Remake Intergrade seems to basically be the PS5 version of FFVII Remake(?), but don’t quote me on that

That mobile FFVII remake is the remake I want to play. But not on mobile.

Yea, seriously. Is there a convenient way to play mobile games on TV? Apple TV had something like that, right? I don't want to cast to a screen and create annoying latency. Although I guess it probably wouldn't matter much if it's a turn-based game.

FF XV Pocket Edition made it to other platforms, so I'm reasonably confident that Square Enix will make it available elsewhere... eventually.

Most Everyone: FFVII Remake is way better than we expected!

Everyone According to the Above Post?: Get rid of the director!...?

I guess if it comes quicker that’s good but I don’t think anyone was calling for his head. Or at least if they were, it wasn’t particularly justified.

Tetsuya Nomura was co-director, and given that he was also co-director of Kingdom Hearts III, I have a sneaking suspicion that Square Enix doesn't trust him to act without supervision and needs someone to keep him on track after the topsy-turvy development of FFXV. Dude has trouble with focus, and personally I'm not sure he was ever a great director to begin with.

Mine is a post of snark suggesting that the most chaotic element has been taken off the project, meaning part two will likely ship in a timely manner.

Knee jerk response rather than intelligent commentary? Sure, but, meh.

I googled it and I don’t think 4 years is an unreasonable amount of time to make that game, given the final product. I’m hoping now that the systems and some assets are in place, 2023 is a fair target.

I haven't seen this mentioned, but I noticed two new difficulties - or was it three? - shown in the presentation with a designation in parentheses that said Classic (ex: Normal (Classic)). I wonder what that's about, and if they'll at the very least add that in a patch to the PS4 version.

I enjoyed the battle system well enough, but ultimately wasn't crazy about it, and found playing on Hard - with its restrictions - to be more of a chore than a fun challenge. Any tweaks to the difficulty modes could definitely entice me to dive back in and try for the platinum.

I haven't seen any articles that mention those, though, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

There were complaints that Classic mode (and regular Easy) were too easy, so my guess is Normal (Classic) lets you play in the closer-to-turn-based mode while still having a good challenge.

FFVII Remake is a free ps plus game in March. Sony is stepping up their game

It's also only Sony-exclusive for 12 months, and that ends in April this year. So, this is a good thing (TM) all around.

Getting the PS Plus version does not get you the free upgrade to the PS5 version, though.

It IS still a damned fine game, even in PS4-compatibility mode.

What upgraded engine? The game is built in Unreal Engine 4, one of the more scalable engines on the market. I doubt very much that "engine upgrades" prevent it from getting to PS4.

Yup. This is very much a "money" move (possibly encouraged by SONY to push PS5 sales, like they have trouble selling those)... a dick move, really. I'd be willing to buy it on PS4 since I already own the main game aaaaand the console. I might buy it when I buy a PS5 like 3-4 years from now. On sale. Heavily discounted.

Ok, so I played through FF7R on my PS4, which is now in storage. I downloaded FF7R onto my PS5, but it can't find my saves, even though they (presumably) are floating up there in the PS+ cloud storage. Is that not a thing - downloading PS4 cloud stored game saves onto a PS5?

Edit: Never mind, I'm dumb, or this process is dumb, or some combination of the two. Needed to go into PS5 system settings -> game saves -> PS4 cloud saves -> manually download the FF7R save from the cloud.

Weighing it in a “sell more consoles” vs “sell more copies of the DLC”, I was hoping it was an engine-based issue. It’s such a smaller install base, it seems ludicrous, but if they are gonna use Yuffie DLC and nostalgia to try and get more system upgrades, so be it. Let it be known that I HEAVILY disagree with it not being on PS4 if it’s money-related.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Save Transfers Are A Mess

As someone with the PS4 version I was rather looking forward to updating to the PS5. I don't really care about updating my save game files unless I have to to play the Yuffie expansion but I guess we will see.

Let's Play FF7R EPISODE INTERmission - CHAPTER ONE!
*spoilers obviously*

How does one get the ps5 upgrade? Because it’s Sony, I’m assuming it’s unnecessarily complicated.

It didn’t seem available at midnight eastern so I gave up and climbed into bed. Hopefully it’ll be clearer tomorrow.

Ok got it. This was not intuitive for me. You have to specifically go to the store page on the PS5, the upgrade option is all the way to the right in the purchase options. You can’t do it from your library or your existing download.

I am very excited to play Intergrade since it will also be my chance to do a Hard mode run. I hope the save transfer process isn't as annoying as it sounds like.

I really do love FF7Remake.

That is all.

I have a few questions. I bought the game on PS4 but got distracted about halfway through and am looking forward to starting from the beginning.

Is the ps5 upgrade everything except the Yuffie content? Does the Yuffie dlc integrating into the main story or is it separate?

The PS5 version is the whole game, yeah. There wasn’t any additional content outside of some items packs (some of which are free right now), until the Yuffie episode. And the Yuffie episode is completely separate from the main game.

Just don't do like I did and update the PS4 version to the PS5 BEFORE uploading your save. Also one thing to note, the cloud system only holds on to one save at a time. So if you want to move multiple saves, you need to upload your ps4 save, then access the PS5 version and download the save. Rinse and repeat. It is really easy if you have a PS4 and PS5 running at the same time.

It's still possible to switch between the PS4 and PS5 version on a PS5. Go to the one Final Fantasy VII game entry, hit the "..." button, and then pick PS4 (to switch from PS5 to PS4), or PS5 (to switch back). It's annoying that they can't both be running at the same time, but very manageable. The only annoying part is that there's just the one upload/download save slot for transferring, as you mentioned.

And btw, if you upgraded from PS4 to PS5, then you probably still have ~80GB worth of PS4 software taking up space on your drive, like I do.

If you don't have PS+, what are you supposed to do to convert the save file?

[edit]

Ah, the option is built into the FF7R software. Question answered!

Yeah Spider-Man had something like this where you start the PS4 game and upload, then start the PS5 game and download. Outside of the usual cloud saves.

So, at the end of the latest trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade, there's a note that states "Available on PS5 at least six months earlier than any other format". In other words, if you're hoping for a PC (or Xbox) release, the soonest you might expect is Dec. 10th, right?

Well, some digging into the Epic Games Store has revealed a secret folder that indicates a PC port is indeed coming, but it raises only more questions. The folder states "Final Fantasy VII Remake" without the Integrade, which makes one wonder if that exclusivity note at the end of the trailer is for the Integrade version/content specifically. It would be weird to sell vanilla FF7 Remake and then later sell Integrade, but you never know with Square Enix. Thing is, even if it does hit PC, will it then be locked to Epic Games exclusivity?

Regardless, I'm probably over-thinking it. Just don't expect to see a port before December.
