Outriders - Catch All

Trickster is still my goto because the playstyle is more my preference, but i was surprised at how OP the support class felt right out of the gate.

Okay I was about to suggest you have your head examined ;P When was the last time you didn't gravitate towards a rogue/thief/assassin class? (ha!)

Go figure that I am thinking the trickster is my fav too. (I should probably have my head examined...)
I do like the devastator though. The neo bullet thing skill is pretty awesome against packs of perched ranged attackers. I got my first legendary on her as well. Its an auto shotgun with vulnerability, life leech and healing. Got a bleeding assault rifle and a toxic auto sniper on her too. Punching is really satisfying and critical with the deva I've found.

Now just my poor pyro is stuck at 4. My deva and trick are 6 and my techno is 7. Pretty sure I've unlocked tier 5 with my techno and tier 4 with the others.

Really good weapon variety at even early levels in this game. Some could be powerful enough to be class agnostic with things like vulnerability, bleeding, etc. I have seen some interesting armor penetration mods: 20% for some seconds after first shot in clip, permanent buff, extra penetration on crit for example. I have also seen mods that extend skill duration or give armor pen on blighted rounds or allow skill to be cast twice before cooldown. So there is going to be very deep customization in this game.

Got my first Epic weapon last night grinding one of the bosses.

So pretty.

I was grinding the boss at one level below the max World Level, and as soon as I saw the little glowing things drop, I started spamming X to pick it up.

Downloading the demo. More games need demos!

There is an option to auto look in the options-gameplay. You can set it to whatever level of drop you want it to autoloot upon death ie commin, rare, epic etc. Helps a lot and I am sure cancels the frustration.

Please remind me of this when the main game gets released. That's a must. I have no interested in manually picking up my loot.

It's on by default but set high because when farming you just want the pieces you're looking for.

I wasn't close enough to hoover it up sadly before i died.

Re: Voice acting

The male voice seems better acted from my two runs through the Demo.

Completed 2 side mission last night: rescuing the shop girl after the cringey Asian shopkeeper from Gremlins was shot up & rescuing Shira's soldier buddy which I must admit had a rather funny ending to it.

I've also passed along a trinket to the nostalgia lady at home base. Am I missing any side quests?

How do I reset the main missions so I can keep grinding for loot?

Theres an option to chose where in the story you are in the lobby screen. Just reset it, and lose the "save data." It keeps your character save data, loses the story save.

Nice! I was wondering how you did that

So ranalin is right in that not only armor but gear in general makes a difference. I don't know if that is wise long term for a game to have such stark difference between level 5 and level 6 or 7 gear. But that is how it is set up in the demo.

Now to be fair, you can change the settings to not automatically escalate to a higher world tier every time you unlock it. But the easier albeit gold sink solution is to buy 3-4 pieces of gear during every trip back to town. You will be surprised at the stat differences and the potency of the mods offered. A couple of pieces offered expanding slow time's radius by a meter or inflicting weakness on those enemies effected by it.

I had a lot of fun playing the Pyromancer today. Having played the Technomancer previously, having healing on kill has a lot more survability than the heal on damage does, except in the case of single-target bosses. It's also nice to have abilities/skills that refresh in half the time the Technomancer ones do. Now I'm curious to see if the Pyromancer has the lowest cooldowns relative to the other classes because of those skills being tied to the healing aspect, or if the Technomancer just has really long cooldowns. I think I'll try Trickster next.

The gear system and world tier difficulty is very Diablo like. A single piece of gear can bump you a up a torment, er world tier level. Getting that first skill point and a damage boost can be the difference between being the Boss or being the Boss' plaything. I have gear pieces that give me multiple uses of a skill before cooldown and then cooldown reduction so that is helpful. A shotgun that gives me both life and shield on every hit. Very much agree that this is a game where going to the vendor and buying that upgraded piece of gear every chance you get is absolutely necessary. I'm chomping at the bit to see what cool things being able to craft will open up. I can't wait to be able to teleport into the fray, use my time sword attack and then be pulled back to where I came from automagically and time bubble etc... Etc...

There is also the historian side quest.

I’m very curious about campaign length and if the difference in classes holds up over the whole game.

The Diablo comparisons are apt but fall apart for me at the point of Outriders not have procedurally generated levels or quests. I’m not a fan of playing through the campaign just to try a different class of the content is the same and Diablo has always had procedurally generated level layouts so there’s at least some difference on play through to play through. Diablo 3 has optional quests that might not even trigger. I don’t think there’s anything like that in Outriders.

You've seen all the videos on Outriders end game right?

I used some dried up funds left in my paypal account to take advantage of the 20% discount at GMG. So I am itchin to go in early April.

So far demo seems ok. have not gotten far enough to test my class choice. Damn, that screen shake is set to 11 isn't it.

Trickster + assault rifle with shield per shot = awesome!

I am getting pretty crazy gear mods. Apply weakness in the slow time bubble + extended duration blade + blue bullets = Boss dead in 20 seconds. And the shield generating shots makes me only vulnerable to burst and being surrounded. (lightning storm sucks too)

I've also seen a few backstab pieces that give you a bonus on the teleport skill to damage from behind.

I need more. We are at the very tip of the iceberg with this game.

#SuperEarlyTierLists

Do I want to even click on that if it is based on the demo?

The level cap is 40 and who knows what level gear we'll be getting with the higher world tiers...

Yea that's just click bait. That's such a subjective thing as well, and of course it's too early to be making that call.

The primary ideas the video is based on starts with each class's ability to heal.
Any class can get a mod that drastically improves its healing mechanism. Pyros can get weapons that burn. Devs can get a bleed effect on weapons. Tricksters as I mentioned above get shield on hit mods and I am not sure whether other classes benefit it like they do from toxic, bleeding, cold, life steal and fire damage.

I will also say that both Devs and Pyros are incredibly effective as snipers with their skills. In fact, they have an advantage as they can aim behind cover without having to pop up because their skills are not blocked by cover (yours or your target's)

I would be stunned if in a group of 3 the most effective setup was all 3 using the "Best" Class... I would guess Best Class is probably the most effective solo class.

Agreed. It is just not possible with all the crossover between classes. All those "adds weakness" type mods work for the group.

I get the feeling that coop will annihilate whole packs of enemies in seconds no matter the group class make up. If the devs aren't careful, chain interrupting bosses could trivialize those fights.

Interesting backstory. I was wondering why all the character models looked like your prototypical white supremacist. (yes even the women and the black presets, the Asians definitely not though)
Turns out we're all criminals because the good guys got blown up and probably wouldn't have been able to handle it anyways

Servers were down for several hours yesterday. It was fun to watch people restlessly squabble on the Discord while they waited for updates.

When I tuned back in the servers were up. I did a bit of captain farming for the first time but came away with nothing good at all. The demo felt extra framey during this time. I wasn't even in a combat area and it was hitching all over the place. Really messed with my aim and the made the already loosey-goosey gunplay even more so. Makes me hesitant to spring for the PS4 version on release. I'll definitely be consuming many YT reviews April 1st (or earlier if no embargos).
