Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

I was able to get the Red Blue Mario edition Switch. I haven't opened it yet because, well, there are 4 other switches in this house. Question: How rare are Nintendo's special edition consoles and is this thing likely to have significant value one day?

I don't know. The fact that this one didn't sell out day 1 makes me wonder.

After I got the Animal Crossing one I won't be getting another.

Monster Hunter Rise one looks good.

I'm sure there will be a magnificent Zelda 35 one. That one will probably be hard to get and worth a lot to resell.

Depends how you define significant I guess?

I was going through my old stuff, I have a plenty-used but in good shape special 3DS, the Link Between Worlds one. The only such system on Amazon is listed for $569.

Oh, interesting to see Artdink is doing Project Triangle and not Acquire. Game seems very Tactics Ogre upon re-watch with the three choices. I've got the demo downloaded, can't wait!

EBay has them for around $200. Amazon is such a crock of poo anymore.

Does the world need a Splatoon 3? My son still prefers 1, and was willing to endure long queue times in it just this week. While he waits, he ipads.

So, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and one of Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword, because that gives us the same mix of original-release platforms (N64, Gamecube, Wii).

Nobody wants Skyward Sword.

And scene.

I bet like 2, maybe 3 million somebodies want it.

I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a new game or another S2 expansion until they put the title on the screen.

Dig Splatoon, but that trailer just gave me the feeling of the same game being sold a third time.

Splatoon might be best known for being a competitive online game from Nintendo, but the first two games had pretty substantial single-player campaigns. I imagine the third one will as well. If that was enough for Halo then it's enough for Splatoon.

On a side note, I still kind of hate that the previous one wasn't "Spla2n." Although I'd probably hate it even more if it was. Anyway, I'm going to be thinking of this next one as "Spla3n" and nobody can stop me. Even if sometimes I wish they could.

To be honest I always assumed they would keep running Splatoon 2 the way they did Mario Kart 8. Just make it an evergreen title until it was absolutely necessary to make a sequel.

Is it worth playing Splatoon 2 now, especially given that 3 is on the way? I've never played a Splatoon game before, but have been fairly interested.

Also, pretty happy to hear about Mario Golf having a single player mode again! I'm pretty sceptical that it'll hold up to the same standard as the GBA game, given that it's been 10-15+ years since Camelot delivered a decent story mode in a game as far as I'm aware, but hopefully I'm wrong.

I would say go for it--according to that direct Splatoon 3 isn't coming out until 2022, so you've got plenty of time to check it out before 3 comes out.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Splatoon 2 brought stuff in like Salmon Run and a new campaign, and the Octo expansion brought in new Octoling characters as well as lore. One could argue the single player mission maps of Splatoon 2's Octo expansion were better than the single player campaign itself, even. Nonetheless, I don't know if I'd be itching for a third.

I can think of improvements you could make to Splatoon 2, particularly in the weird timing of Salmon Run (just make it a constant if they haven't already) or grouping up with friends (no more phone apps!), but I'm not sure a third entry is necessary.

That said, the early parts of the trailer made it look like it was going to be an open-world spin-off or something, which... admittedly, I'd like a lot more. I know that portion of the trailer was subtitled "Not actual gameplay", and therefore could have easily been spoofing common open-world RPG shooters, but I was genuinely curious if Nintendo could bring the same kind of creativity to that genre as they had the competitive shooter as a whole.

Still, Splatoon has a pretty good audience. Just weird to see them pumping the sequels out so comparatively quick.

Heck, I'd go one farther and say Splatoon 1 is still worth playing, assuming one has a Wii U. They've done an amazing job of creating an evergreen shooter, which is not something I expected to say of Nintendo.

I'm slightly bummed the Splatoon team is doing more Splatoon, which I hope is because they have more ideas and not because it was mandated by Nintendo's management or something. (There's no indication that this is the case.) I'd really like to see what else the team comes up with.

Since Project Triangle Strategy has a demo already has anyone tried it? I was kind of surprised it had one since it isn't releasing for a year but I do love demos

I wasn't surprised as they tried that with Octopath Traveler and it worked well. Gave 'em lots of feedback that was implemented in development. They call it a demo but it's effectively a focus/beta test.

With that in mind, I would not assume that the demo will play as the final product would.

I plan on giving it a spin sometime next week.

I have barely played the Splatoons, but my kids have enjoyed them. I thought Salmon Run sounded cool, but it required a Switch per player, so I never tried it.

I wish Mario Kart got installments like Splatoon, or DLC like Smash.

They mentioned in the direct there would be a survey too after you play.

If Mario Kart and Splatoon got the support Smash has been getting I'd be happy. I much prefer that model, though who knows what we'll be looking at in the future. There's bound to be a new Smash Bros. release at some point, though the longer they can keep this one evergreen the happier I'll be.

Octopath, Bravely Default and this game are all handled by Team Asano. They like their demos and seem to take feedback well into account. Seems to work for them!

I played through parts of the demo and I wouldn't be surprised if they ditched that name and renamed it to Final Fantasy Tactics Something, Something. Apart from the graphics sending out clear Octopath vibes, there are so many things that reminded me of FF:T that I actually find it pretty odd that they gave it a random name.

I don't know why I'm being so precious about this one. I guess because I have access to other Switches, but the only reason I have this is one is because my wife is tired of me using hers so she got this one for me. I'll regret it in 20 years when unopened ones are selling for 10G haha

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD | Switch VS Wii | Trailer Comparison

How do owners of multiple Switches, who share them with family members, juggle the use of their libraries? I understand it's not as easy as Xbox. I'd be interested in playing Project Triangle, but I think I've only ever managed to play a Tactics game on handheld - and my Switch stays in the living room.

It's kind of annoying, but not impossible.

The easiest thing to do is have the primary console put itself in Airplane mode and the other Switch is able to play whatever they want.

Can your secondary console play digital games without a wifi connection? Say, on a plane? I'd expect to leave my primary console at home and on wifi for the kids.

Wish granted. Now MK has 20 new drivers and they're all JRPG anime sword swingers.

Fingers crossed:
Rumor: Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Zelda: The Wind Waker HD coming to Switch later in 2021
If so, sounds weird not to announce them yesterday though.

You’re doing it backwards. Primary: in pocket; secondary: permadocked.

With all of these remasters, might as well start calling this platform the Nintendo Swiitch.

No. I had this setup for a while when I was trying out the Switch Lite and it has to call in constantly. So eventually the best thing to do is make the "mobile" Switch the primary console. If you don't, you can't launch new games. Or sometimes you can't play the same game you were previously playing. It's a mess, to be honest.

I have started it. It is fun and pretty. I do wonder if translations of "classic" Japanese by English speakers sound as silly as the Japanese attempts at medieval English. It is a bit hard to read sometimes because it just seems so overdone.
