Apex Legends - Catch All

I did this the other night

I tried connecting my steam account to Apex but the page that loads from the game bricks. Thinking about re-installing via Steam. Anyone had any issues with that?

Anyone interested in some goodjer Apex one of these nights? I have a core group I play with but would be fun to play with some other folks, different styles, etc/

Shoot me a friend invite in the game.

Shouldn't be an issue. I reinstalled by copying the old files into the steam folder and went without a hitch. Tied the accounts together and got the fun gun charms.

Sure! I'm on origin as Min0taar and steam as Minotaar. I'd love playing with Goojers and actually have communication rather than solo queuing.

wrong thread

Shoot me an invite inside of Apex. I play pretty much every day.

oddly, apex is one of the only games I like sniping in

Good games last night, bigred! Thanks for carrying us to that first win!

Good games for sure! Was fun playing with someone who heard gunshots and was like, "let's go this route so we can get the drop on them and play strategically" instead of "must b-line without cover straight at bad guys immediately!!!" like every pubby.

I really hope they patch the apex bug soon. I've figured out how to reconnect to game without rebooting but it's really frustrating. Happened in both our wins last night. Luckily for second win I relogged in time to get a kill on final squad and feel like I contributed to win unlike that first one :). I like to think my crash/disconnect and the resulting feelings of abandonment fueled the team to greatness!

I couldn't believe how quickly you reconnected in that final win! Maybe I just hadn't noticed how long you'd been DCed.

Yeah, I don't think I have a lot of gun skill, but I try to put thought into strategy and positioning. When our final rando friend made a comment about wanting to play smart near the end last night, I was beside myself with happiness.

Last week I literally asked a squad of randos to play smart and keep the high ground. One of them said "Of course" moments before the other one jumped down 100 feet and got knocked. Then the guy who had agreed with me accidentally fell down after him.

We somehow won anyway!

Any interest in playing Thursday evening? Third goodjer welcome! Would love to get folks a little more active in the discord shooters chat. It's all CoD folks right now.

Also, has anyone used the Apex club feature? Wondering if that would be useful to get us playing more together. The regs I play with seem to be tiring of Apex and I really hate solo queuing.

Thursday night is my coronavirus D&D campaign on Roll20, or I'd love to! Sundays and Wednesdays are date nights. Apart from those, I play pretty much every night. Happy to team up anytime you see me on!

I'll endeavor to be on. Might be more toward the 9pm range. I'm on Origin as Min0taar (a zero in there).

Supposedly they patched the freezing issue today! Hope that works for you, Red!

Hey Minotaar, turned in super early on Thursday. Next time! Hit me up on Discord or Origin chat.

No issues when we played last night. So far so good.

Ugh. I really like this game but I'm soooo bad. It gets disheartening after two or three losses where I've done less than 100 damage in each round. I quickly exit to lobby so that my team mates can't chastise me (as a former MOBA player I'm conditioned to expect toxicity).

Anytime you have the chance, drop immediately into combat. Only a small percent of playing time involves combat, so if you want to improve your combat skils, that's a way to get more reps.

There's also the firing range.

The big thing in Apex that sets it aside from most shooters I've played (CSGO, CoD, etc) is movement. Being able to traverse open fields, navigate corners, bounce off walls, etc is so crucial.

You don't need to follow everything in the guide below. For example, I use both crouch hold and toggle at different times. However, this gives you a good idea of how to boost your game.

I think the other aspect is playing a lot and learning the texture of a game. When to push, when to retreat, etc. Agreed with Fedaykin on hot drops. Learn how to prioritize cover and always know a retreat point every time you engage someone. Calm the rush of blood to your head to run out in the open and straight at a group. 9/10 times, prioritizing staying alive and/or finding cover will result in more kills in the long run.

The kills and damage will come as you start to be able to jump slide past a corner, unload a clip on someone, slide to the next cover while reloading, hop off a wall, and finish them. Early on, most novices are simply running out, taking shots, running in straight lines, etc. Easily thrown off the second they encounter an experienced player who can shoot and dodge while you seem glued to the floor.

"Winning" in this game is being the last squad alive. I agree with bigred's post, and I'll just add, "Discretion is the better part of valor." In this game, that's often true! It was originally said by a cowardly character in a Shakespeare play, which few who use the quote know - but in Apex, consider withdrawing from a fight you don't think you can win.

Value your life highly, since you only get one. Always be in cover, and peek only to fire.

In addition to all the great above advice, there are people who play this game very well who prioritize educating other players in their streams (CourageJD and King Richard, for example). Fed probably has other suggestions, but watch some top streamers on Twitch do their thing and notice what they do for ideas.

The first thing you'll see them doing is usually playing with the same people on the regular and using voice comms. This is a huge advantage over other teams of randoms who aren't communicating. You can still be successful solo if you abuse the excellent in-game tools, but it's eye opening to know what you're up against, and how you need to shift your approach if you're queuing solo.

Using a mic and actively communicating are huge, like Wizardm0de is saying. There is a huge difference between playing with voiceless randos and playing with chat - although the in-game tools enable some voiceless randos to be truly excellent team players.

I don't play much ranked and so I haven't worked very much on playing with a particular squad and evolving our teamwork, but the more communicating and thinking one does, the better. The game really does reward smart tactics and usually punishes bad decisions.

I got lucky but i had a string of wins with randos that said 0 words in the whole match, but would ping twice when they were pushing and ping once or put the warning ping down for informational or wanting us to look that way.

It ended up being very effective. Being able to move together and being able to focus fire on the same thing is huge.

It's amazing what a sense of personality you can get based on playing a twenty minute match with someone. If they're always pinging and generally doing the right thing, possibly dropping you meds or ammo when you need it, that's honestly better than a ton of people who have microphones.

Yep totally agree. Apex really has a great communication system in place that allows you to provide and receive information w/o saying a word. Sure, being vocal helps but I have also won a few games without me or my team saying a thing but using pings, etc to know where to go, dropping meds etc. Good stuff.

New Tales from the Outlands
I expected them to pull a Forge right up till the end.

And the trailer is excellent. A bit of a shame I've already decided not to do the Battle Pass this season because I need to dedicate that time to other things.

Crazy vid..Got almost 20 kills in one match. No. not me

Nice! I don't think I've gotten more than 12 in a match.

New season starts tomorrow!

Thinking about moving from Bloodhound main back to Bangalore main.

I haven't had the chance to play Fuse yet other than my foray with him in the firing range, but I'm loving the 30-30 Repeater. I played a couple of games with it and it's definitely a gun I wouldn't mind picking up when I can get my hands on it.
