Cartoon watchers with jobs

Random aside... kid was at the grandparents and watched a transformers (not streaming) with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and.... Trashcan? Which series is this... he now wants all of them as toys...

I don't believe there has ever been a transformers series with at transforming trashcan. There has been a series in a dump, Robots in Disguise where Bee is the leader for most of the series until Prime comes back to Earth.

Dang grandparents not knowing which version of transformers they watched.... lol I was wondering why I couldn't find it on 'the google'...

Transformers: Animated had a garbage truck transformer but none that I can think of with a trash can.

Well the almost 5 year old is a pretty unreliable source when it comes to details. Ill try that and see if it's the one. Thanks!

Watched Batman: Soul of the Dragon. They went for a 70s mixed with kung fu feel. I thought it was okay up to the end. I'm not sure it has a ending. I'm not sure if the main conflict was taken care of.

The team up was interesting. This is first time I have seen some of them as good guys or semi good guys. Bad guys were forgettable.

Ended up deciding to work my way through The Owl House. I'd honestly thought when I first heard clips from the show that Wendie Malick wasn't doing great with the voice work, but eight episodes in, I was wrong, she's fine and fits Eda quite nicely.

Did you watch the new Transformers serieses?

Yeah I did, even commented on it but that might have been in the netflix thread. Thought they should have combined the two seasons into one. The second season was a bit better than the first. The lack of transformations didn't make sense. They were running away from things when they could have drove away, I think it was because they didn't want the toys to conflict with the show. Megatron and Primes story arc was pretty good. Elita-1 storyline was pretty good also. Might have been the first time for a lady bot leading the autobots.

Just watched the latest season of Disenchantment and really liked it. For the series gets better with each season. The first season was just okay for me. Some of that was because it was riding the creators of futurama tag to hard which it is still not on that level. Mostly though the first season wasn't all that good and didn't seem to know where it was going.

Now they obviously have the show heavily mapped out. They only had one oddball episode that didn't move the overall plot. The episode was good but completely pointless. They could come back to it though which I could see them doing.

Watched The Owl House which was really good. I ignored this the first few times I heard of it because the title sounded dumb. Then I watched the trailer and liked what I saw. I think anyone that liked Hilga will also like this.

The Real Ghostbusters is on youtube. I mean officially but it looks like it might also be on their unofficially which is weird. Youtube is weird. I seen people get taken down for having clips of show that they were paid to review then there are people that have had full episodes of stuff up for years.

OMG YOU GUYS. YOU. GUYS. Peacock has ALL OF EXO SQUAD. All of it. The second season hasn't been available for decades so this is HUGE. It's such an amazing show you guys.

The 90s had so many amazing shows, this one included. It's amazing and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.

I remember the episode where they had drop their suits into a volcano then one of the suits starts to talk. My little kid brain was like oh no it was alive all this time. So sad.

Watched Earwig and The Witch and I don't think the film was complete. So the movie didn't have as story arc. A person drops off a kid at a orphanage. About six years later the girl is adopted. Turns out the people that adopt her are a pair of witches and a demon. The girl tries to get the witch to train her. Then the last scene happens without any buildup. I mean the ending could have been the start of the movie

Don't read this if you plan to see it

Spoiler:

So the Earwig seems to be the daughter of a red haired witch and a demon. This is never stated but it is heavily hinted at with Earwig devil horn hair and she has a general evil attitude. It is very odd that this is never brought up.

Now the movie is called Earwig after the main character and she has a ability to get into people's head. Again this is never stated. By the end of the movie she has taken over the house but it isn't shown how she did. They just change scenes and now she is in control. Oh I guess there is a time skip but they don't say what happens in that time skip.

Then her mom shows up and the movie ends. Just shows up out of the blue the end. What did Earwig learn nothing. What did any of the characters learn nothing they are mind controlled.

No story, no middle, no end.

I had posted this in the HBO thread:

Earwig and the Witch was entertaining, but not well put together. I don’t know enough about filmmaking to speak to where they might have gone wrong, but it might be the editing. Since it’s an animated film, the problem may go back to the original storyboarding. Also, you can’t end a film that way. So awkward.

What they got right:
English voice work
Visual style
Dialogue
Story

They barely missed the mark. It’s like recording a song demo on guitar and vocals and bringing it to your band. The demo can be great, but until you get the drums and bass added in it’s not complete. Once you add those final elements, it’s a real song. There’s something like that missing from the movie.

Oh and I bet they wanted to name it Earwig and the Angry Witch but that’s too close to another movie with 70s rock music in it.

Maybe there’ll be a sequel?

The children of Miyazaki just don’t have “it”. It’s like they need help from a Hollywood filmmaker or something. To be fair, I was mostly entertained by the film. It’s such an awkward work, though. So weird.

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Franchise To Expand With Launch Of Nickelodeon’s Avatar Studios, Animated Theatrical Film In The Works

Nickelodeon is launching Avatar Studios, a division designed to create original content spanning animated series and movies based on the franchise’s world.

The original creators and executive producers Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will run the studio as co-chief creative officers, reporting to Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation.

Avatar Studios will produce content for platforms including Paramount+ and Nickelodeon as well as third-party platforms and theatrical releases.

The first project is an animated theatrical film that is set to start production later this year.

Well looks like Nick learned their lesson from ditching Korra.

Watched Pacific Rim: The Black on netflix. The first episode is pretty generic following the standard kids with giant robot trope. The show quickly picks up doing some cool and surprising things. Unfortunately it is only 7 episodes and ends on a cliffhanger. I'm not sure if they split season 1 or if season 2 is far away. Either way I hope it is back soon.

I also enjoyed that.

Just watched Rango, a 2011 western cartoon. I really liked this movie. The animation is great. They went for a cartoony gritty style. They captured the western feel they were going for. I think kids can watch this but adults might get more out of it. The movie has many references kids wont get. Like the title is reference to a popular western movie. There are a pair of hookers but there isn't anything they says these ladies are hookers.

The movie is about a lizard that comes to a town after nearly being killed. He is soon made sheriff after some lies and accidents. While in the town he must find out who is stealing the water which is money in this toon. Standard stuff but I dug it.

Pacific Rim: The Black's entire season 1 is just those 7 episodes. It's apparently already been picked up for season 2 though. It's okay so far, but I'm tempering my expectations. I don't really care about any of the characters, but I'm willing to suffer dealing with them so long as they eventually let us know what's been going on outside The Black. I'm not crazy at all about the

Spoiler:

human/kaiju hybrid boy or the smaller kaiju. The more of that they add in the less "Pacific Rim" it feels. The jaeger-drone/kaiju hybrid and kaiju form of the boy are both far too agile and fast, meaning that they don't have the same feel of mass & momentum that the movie nailed. It was clearly a deliberate choice too, because the normal jaegers and kaiju do have it

. I would like to see them explore more of the non-jaeger piloting possibilities of the drift. Ultimately, I think I'll end up as disappointed in this series as I was in Uprising.

I'm sad that Duck Tales has come to an end, but you couldn't have asked for a better series finale. It was absolutely perfect, every major character got a chance to shine, and it wrapped up the show perfectly. I'm really going to miss this show.

I saw it way back in the theater. Love this film!

The music is super cool. I forget if Robert Rodriguez had anything to do with it, but it has his Chingon band’s sound; that neo-son jarocho thing. Love that stuff.

Also I feel like Johnny Dep was channeling his Hunter S. Thompson character a bit, which is just great.

This movie is top notch.

Watching Duck Tales season one at the moment. Just watched episode 7 Whatever Happen to Della Duck. Della is Donald's sister and the boy's mother. Some of the previous episodes hinted that something bad happen to her that the adults wouldn't talk about. In this episode as the title suggests we get to see exactly what happen with her. This was fantastic episodes. Hits you in the feels.

Oh snap that was actually season 2 episode 7.
