Satisfactory - a Factorio-like First Person game

definitely this. i build a very nice spiral trail lift based on a youtube video, and i can already think of about 3 other places they would be useful... but it took me two hours to build it and even with a bit of a speed up for having done it it would be so much nicer if i could just assemble all the resources in my inventory and plop it all down at once.

Sound on. Trust me; it matters.
(No, it’s not going. To scare the hell out of you. Promise.)

I picked this up during the Steam sale and then played it for three hours straight. I think I found my new obsession, at least until CyberPunk in a week and a half.

I only made it far enough to automate production of most basic items like iron plates, screws, copper wire, etc. I’m already planning on starting over in a different area and laying out everything so it’s neat and orderly.

Game performs and looks fantastic, even in early access! I can run it in 4K on Ultra with decent performance, but I’ll definitely have to start cranking things down once I get going with lots of factories.

Pretty soon you'll be making giant coal power plants with 96 generators.

i appreciate how nicely you've lined up these generators.

I need to jump back in how they've added a new update.

There always comes the point when you realize chaos is unavoidable.

Embrace the spagat. i've restarted like three times, and every time i get to their 6 or so, and going back to my tier one building is horrifying.

Just tear your stuff down and make it again.

That's the third or fourth version of my coal plant

That is much easier now that they've added batch deconstruction, originally that was WAY more tedious than it was worth.

It's a cycle. You try to make it structured. Give into the chaos, and then end up in a realm of orderly bliss.

I love this game. I've put hundreds of hours into it.

44 Gigawatts of turbo fuel power.

you should put your cooked spaghetti in a bowl not a box

Those are incredible looking factories, all I can say is wow! Hopefully I’ll get there some day, but right now it’s just a jumbled mess of machines, conveyor belts, and power cables, but at least it all works. I really need to figure out how to build vertically. One thing that does get tedious is running around to fill up all my power plants. I’ve switched completely over to solid biofuel, so thankfully it’s not nearly as often.

The update 4 teasers have started. This appears to be that mystery building they mentioned. Looks like two liquid and two belt input and one liquid and one belt output?

I guess this is teir 8? the manufacturer equivalent to the refinery's assembler?

My 17 yo son and I have just started diving into this and just adore it so frigging much. We used to Minecraft hard back when he was a youngun, so really cool to have something similar to work on together again. The factories shown above just are amazing. I thought I was pretty good getting 4 coal power plants working without the pipes and conveyor belts looking like a crazy person put them down. May, need to watch some guides

What the what?? My man, holy crap.

Is it easier to start over or destroy and rebuild?

EverythingsTentative wrote:

They added a feature that lets you very quickly destroy a bunch of things. There were a few major content updates that changed the first few tiers and then it was worth restarting. But if you were playing recently (in the last year) destroy is probably easier.

Is there a way to have open server that people can constantly drop in and out of? Starting over feels like a slog and my spaghetti factory is overwhelming. I'd love to be able to just jump into a world and get to work on later stage stuff.

So I picked this up in the Holiday Sale ($13 with coupon? Sold!) and am about 20 hours in.

Is this the point where I should want to tear everything down and rebuild it better? Is that normal?

And why is the nearest source of coal to my main build area way the hells over there!

Thanks. I had intended to put a fourth floor on it but got bored before I ran out of power.

Yes. As you unlock new tiers and shipments, you will need to rework and improve the efficiency of your factories. In all honesty, the higher you get, the more true that becomes.

I could say something about the spread of resources in real life, but I’ll pseudo-refrain and just say having to search for and retrieve resources forces you to get out and explore and enjoy the views!

Which are apparently in Switzerland. The Matterhorn is clearly visible off the south-west corner of the map.

I believe dedicated servers are still on the roadmap but they've been tougher to implement than expected. We should be getting an update end of January/early February with the new content and then dedicated servers in the 4.0 later this year.

PSA for those just getting into this. Once you reach aluminum production you probably want to hold off on any more advanced factory projects. Update 4 in 2-3 months aims to overhaul most everything above aluminum and much of your work may break.

What tier is aluminum?

Tier 8? I've only opened 7 and stopped, but T8 is where they said problems would happen

okay im working on 7 now

I would actually stop at liquid refining. update 4 sounds like it will break anything involving refineries.
