Weekly Drawing Prompt Thread

The suspense is terrible, I hope it'll last!

Haha. I've been running errands all morning, but I'm about to have a quick lunch and then sit down to draw the page, so the suspense will hold for at least a couple more hours!

Here it is, at last, the 31st installment of "December Deadline."

Thank you for coming with me on this crazy adventure! I can't believe I managed to do a page a day for the whole month! Despite doing it in December instead of October, it's definitely been my favorite Inktober ever!

If this thread is looking for more prompts, this one is for sculpting but could easily be used for drawing

I have to say those look good!

On the same topic...

It's starting again! I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since today's Thursday...

Well, out of the two suggestions above, I really like the SculptJanuary prompts. I know they are supposed to be daily prompts for this month, but I think we could make them weekly, which would give us 31 weeks already, or we can choose a few from the 31... or we can go on a completely different direction. Anyway, just some quick thoughts --I'm on a Zoom meeting now, and I need to pay attention...

The ScultJanuary prompts do look fun (I've only just looked at them—I was put off earlier by the youtube link, thinking I'd need to watch a video to see what they were, so whoops). I've started sketching out something for the new Inktober prompt already, but I'm hardly committed.

I haven't done anything yet, so I could go either way, but as I said earlier, the Inktober prompts have gotten a little stale for me, and the SculptJanuary ones look like soooo much fun. If we go with those, we already have a bunch, so we don't need to wait until Thursday for a new prompt. In other words, we could start the week on Monday with a new prompt, so I guess last week "wouldn't count"? Do we start Week 1 today with the first prompt?

Sorry for the youtube link. I wanted to credit the original poster and I couldn't track down a non youtube link even though it was not a video link.

edit: duh, I am an idiot

No worries, I just wasn't paying attention at the time.

Sure, we can do that. I might end up finishing and posting my current drawing before doing "dragon's egg" though (or combine them? Hmm...).

Hey, maybe someone lurking on the thread is an aspiring sculptor, and they can do the actual challenge (daily or weekly) and post photos?

Thank you for posting it, fangblackbone!

And Ravanon, you should totally combine them and have a "fresh dragon's egg," I think!

Let's do that, then: we'll start the year today with "dragon's egg," and we can go down the list on a weekly basis, and skip some if we don't like them.

Finally, it would be awesome to see sculptures here. If I didn't 100% absolutely suck at sculpting, I would give it a try myself, but that will never happen. It's up to those potential lurking sculptors!

Okay, so here's what I'd done for the Inktober 'fresh' prompt:

And now I'll do the 'dragon's egg' prompt for SculptJanuary. And stick to those prompts. Unless the next Inktober prompt is particularly interesting. In which case I might do it as well. I probably won't end up doing two different sets of prompts simultaneously... I hope.

Very cool! And hey --if you could do two a week, every week, that would be awesome! I still haven't started mine, what with the semester starting again and all that, but I'm hoping to find time soon. I need to have an idea first, though!

Instead of drawing dragon's eggs, I used some time I had today to do a quick drawing of one of my dogs, Fozzie, but the eggs will be coming soon!

Very cute!

On that note, here's my "dragon's egg":

That looks great! Starting the year strong, I see.

Here's mine, freshly hatched:

Since we have "all the prompts" now, we know this week is "freshly baked." I have an idea for it, but I've spent my free time not drawing (shame on me). I'm hoping to have it done by Saturday, though!

Well, it looks like I'm slipping in first with my "freshly baked":

Niiiiiice!

I finished mine just a few minutes ago. I'm waiting for the ink to dry so that I can erase the pencil lines...

Here it is! Fresh off the oven, as it were...

It looks like this week is going to be rather busy, but I'm off today, so I thought I'd go ahead and draw this week's prompt, "modular limb." Now, I have no idea if that's what "modular limb" means, but that's what came to mind.

Looking forward to seeing yours!

Modular means it is made up of different parts that can be swapped out for different characteristics. If you are a fan of Mechwarrior, it is like omni hard points versus fixed weapons and equipment loadouts.

Aaaaaah! I see now. Well, maybe the drawing works, then?

Aargh, late. Quick, knock something up for this/last week...

For 'Modular Limb':

Cool! A much more accurate representation of the prompt than mine for sure!

This week's prompt is "sneaking insect," which sounds like fun. I've been thinking about it since last week and I've come up with some ideas, but I don't really like any of them, so I'll be thinking some more...

Here's my "sneaking insect," even though it's more like "quick, quick, brush, brush." Oh, well...

If I ever find the time to work on another challenge, I think it might be this one!

I had an idea for that with spaceships. I would design 26 spaceships one based for each shape of a letter of the alphabet. (might still do it someday...)

I like that fanart idea! I might try to start doing one of those a week in addition to the other prompt.

Yessss...I think I'll hold off on adding more challenges to my week. But it would be great to see what some of the rest of you come up with.

According to my usual lackadaisical schedule, here is my "sneaking insect":
